... It's a conversation that has no bearing on anything to do with the plot that you can acess after the first fertile land has been cleared by mashing the L button.

It's not a spoiler.

If I detailed something that happened in the plot five minutes into the game, it's still a spoiler.

I hate it when people use the defence "It's not a spoiler"

If it's from the story, it's ALWAYS a spoiler. kthxbai.

But yeah, with my code for the extra costumes the card I have is 9 digits long, with only eight spaces to put in the code? Whats the deal with that.

I've also been wondering, since it didn't seem to register the code on the net or anything, could I give that code to anyone and let them have the costumes?

The code is the same for everyone, I posted the code in this thread a little while ago. If it has 9 digits, leave out the last one.

So you're saying we're not alowed to talk about anything of any plot relevence in the game whatsoever? I can't tell you that you have to stop Aruman from escaping cause it's a spoiler, I can't mention you ahve a female companion named Elika cause it's a spoiler.

I finished the game last night, and must say that while it was a good game in its own right, I was a bit disappointed in some elements and how the game was designed.

I don't want to start another long "vs. Sands of time" debate, but in short I felt this new PoP was slightly inferior to the SOT trilogy.

My score for it would be around a 8 as given by gamespot. The score of 9.3 given by ign was way too high, in my opinion. The reviewer obviously enjoyed it tremendously, which is a good thing, since that's what gaming is all about: enjoying the experience.

One last thing, somebody pointed out that they were confused how Ubisoft can have had all this time since the last PoP in 2005, to make a new PoP for 2008, and yet not be able to make this game better. I think I can see the logic in that argument, but I also applaud their decision in willing to take a new direction with regards to the Prince (dramatically different personality) and the presentation of the game (anime, painting-like instead of realistic).

See, I really, really tried to like Sands of Time, but it was plagued with so many issues that just prevented the game from being more than a 6 for me, this new one is probably an 8.5. It improves upon everything that Sands of Time did, all while making it feel more like the very first game in 3d, which was something SoT didn't do. What I mean by this is that the structure of the game was very akin to the original, it's 95% platforming, with the odd one on one (well, one on two) battle thrown in here and there. I really enjoyed the return of the one hit kill traps, regardless of the "Elika saves j00" system of respawning, it still felt sufficiently detrimental each time I failed in a task, without getting overly frustrated (although there were some instances I did get frustrated, like some of the wallrunning segments and the flying moments, which could have been a bit tighter).

So yeah, I loved it, and felt it was more representative of what Prince of Persia was trying to achieve than Sands of Time ever was (mind you, I never played Warrior Within or Two Thrones).

Yeh Sin, I get what you mean... but I'll be finishing the game 2nite... something uneasing about actually knowing that about a game... Definetly worth the purchase... definetly a whole bunch of fun... but doesn't warrant me keeping it unfortunatly (Contrary to the SoT trilogy).

I'll be trading PoP and 007 for Resistance 2, 2moro...

8/10 is my rating for this game.... happy gaming!

I don't get this, how do you rank something 8 out of tem (Basicly just shy of being perfect) then trade it in a couple of days after you bought it?

Because, I don't see myself playing it again... it'll gather dust, while it'll still be worth a pretty penny for trade in (just business really). Plus I didn't find any difficult setting, contrary to the SoT Trilogy... I do and have returned back to them to finish on harder difficulty.

I didn't mind Uncharted however that too warranted a trade in once finished.... if you get my thinking here.

I know people like to keep their favourite games, I'm one like that too, but with no online, coop or additional gaming features... time to move on.

8/10 for looks and story line and the innovative talking concept... can be improved, but a really good platformer/adventure game. Yes perhaps I'm being generous, being a UbiSoft and PoP fan... possible a tad bit biased... but I stand by it.

I've been taking my time with this game, as I'm really enjoying the whole experience (I've currently killed 2 of the 4 bosses, and am 2 fertile grounds from the other 2, with all 4 powers). One thing that got me from the start was the attention to detail. For example, when I first started, I jumped on a beam, Elika jumped next to me, but I realised I needed to be on the side Elika was on. As soon as this happened, I got a little worried that this would happen throughout the game, Elika getting in the way. Than all of a sudden, they both do a little jig to swap sides on the beam, and it was at this point that the game elevated itself to something special. Yes, something so small and trivial really increased my love of the game.

Also, the more I play it the more I'm liking the story and interaction between the Prince and Elika. His smartarse remarks and the charming presentation of the game as a whole is very enjoyable. Sure, it's riddled with cliche and predictable moments, but there's something about the game that is charming and helps ignore that. For example, SLIGHT SPOILERS when you defeat one of the bosses and the Prince lies down saying "I'm a legend, I'll live forever", then all of a sudden the tower he's lying on starts collapsing. I couldn't help but laugh, even though I knew that would happen.

Special mention also needs to go to the Scimitar Engine, and I sincerely hope we see Ubi make use of it in more of their games (BG&E2? Please?...) It's one of the best game engines going around and it's real strength is its' extraordinary draw distance. We already saw it working wonders in Ass Creed, but it shines even more here, with no frame rate issues etc. It really is beautiful standing up in a high tower and looking all around and seeing environments miles around you. You can even see corruption traps and Lightseeds far into the distance. Amazing stuff.

Did you notice, that sometimes when they switch places, they would make quick comments. Prince says stuff like, "excuse...me!" and Elika sometimes giggles: "having fun?!"

Nice touch I agree.

bobboblaw, one of the things that impressed me most in the game is those little interaction animations, esspecialy the ones that are compeltly optional, try standing by a wall after you've just done a wall run or a gripfall and waiting for Elika.

If you do it enough Enrique he starts complaining that she weighs too much icon_razz.gif

Yeah, I've had that happen a fair few times, it's a really nice touch.

My only real gripes with the game are the lack of puzzles for one. Sands of Times had a fair few movement puzzles, but the only proper one I recall in this installment is that one involving 4 platforms suspended in the air, and rotating them and the beams protruding from them to cross to another area. Also, I'm finding the green power plates a little annoying (the ones that let you run up/across walls) as the controls are a little fiddly, and the slightest graze to something sticking out of the wall 'kills' you and you sometimes have to restart long sections of it if there wasn't any safe ground during the run.

Spoilers relating to the Sands of Time Series and this game, you've been warned. icon_cool.gif

Finally got the game today and had a chance to play around with it tonight. Being a fan of PoP games I knew this was one game I couldn't miss out on. Wanted to add my two cents to the discussion...

Must say first off that the graphics are very nicely done. Didn't expect them to go from the style in the Sands of Time series to this, but I really like the way the game looks. I also like the little 'interactions' between the Prince and Elika and the little 'flavour' conversations that they have...

When the Prince mentioned that Farah was a donkey I was laughing pretty badly (my insides hurt :/ - that's how bad). When he called Farah prior to the conversation I thought this was the old Farah from the Sands series with a new prince or something. Also I thought the 'I spy' game was pretty funny.

The gameplay was also different to the Sands series that I was accustomed to (in terms of control and ratio of platform / fighting). A lot less fighting the enemy and a lot more platform jumping / acrobatics to get to the next point where I'm at. This is the aspect I truly enjoy in PoP.

However, there seems to be very few monsters encountered in the game. Note though that I've only played several hours and healed about 3 lands or so... hoping there'll be more fighting later but I can recall less than 10 fights since when I first started, and each was two on one (Elika). Here's to hoping more action picks up soon.

So far enjoying the new gameplay that this PoP has in addition to the old one. Here's to hoping it gets better icon_smile.gif.

There are a couple of more puzzles later, but really they're pretty few and far between.

The fights are always two on one, there really arn't many, you fight the bosses multiple times and thats pretty much it, every other fight you can actully skip if you're good enough at the platforming.

Just as an additional note... the attention to detail comment I agree and loved too... but being Persian myself... I realised that when Elika does her magic... she says some persian (farsi) words... and they've really made it sound authentic and ancient.

Like when you ask her for directions, she may say... "Rah Dorost" Which means.. "Straight Path" or "Right path"... many other ones I understood too.. like "Dasteh Ormazd" means "Hand of Ormazd" (When jumping off power plates)

What a shame then that the Prince OF PERSIA sounds like he's from California. Yep. I'm still bitter.

I think it didn't really bug me as much cause aside from the name of the game, Persia is never even mentioned in the game. It's more of an ambiguous fantasy land then an actual place.

Hahaha.. trust me... you don't want a middle eastern accent... hahah!! I can just imagine my dad or cousin's doing the voice over! Hahahahahahaha!! Or like some of the MEC troops from COD4...

And yes... the only real reference to Persia was at the start regarding "Rugs this thick!" which is fairly ambiguous...

I don't see how the accent is a problem at all. Despite the name, the setting is clearly not Persia (I may not be a history buff, but I don't think they had magic plates and gymnast thieves and dark Gods in ancient Persia), it's a fantasy world. Why does the accent matter? Can't you just assume that in this particular fantasy world the native accent just happens to sound exactly like our world's American accent?

And how is a middle eastern accent going to help in even the slightest bit? If you give him a middle eastern accent then you have to explain why he's speaking English in the first place when his native language would be Farsi. If it really bothers you just pretend they're doing the MGS3/Hunt for Red October trick, where the characters are speaking their own native languages and we're just hearing it in English.

Hahaha... good point, it is just a game... besides, Persia was a large portion of the world at one point... so you could attribute many backdrops if you wanted to...
