I think that a movie like this doesn't only delay > 8/10 review scores, but increases their score overall because reviewers who would award a 6 or 7 / 10 might not want to wait until Monday to put out their review.
Having "exclusive review" and "Australia's first" etc etc are big selling points for website and magazine covers. Waiting too long to release a review is like a newspaper reporting on old events.
So while this increases the overall score in the short term it also heightens the score in the long term.
hmm.. I wonder if that makes sense to anyone else.

It's a bit dumb for them to ask, but I understand where they are coming from. They invest millions into a product that, lets face it, a lot of people out there will enjoy regardless of our opinions. It's a little harsh that they can lose a lot of money because someone got ants in their pants over a bug in the game and gave it a 4 or something.
There are a lot of clueless gamers out there that base their purchasing decision on the little figure at the end of a review, and most of these clueless gamers don't notice the sort of glitches and bugs that we do. I've got a few friends who are tradies that love games that a lot of people think are shit, simply because they are very casual gamers and their expectations aren't high.
I guess I'm a little different anyway, I don't really base my decision on a game from somebodies review, I'd rather read the box and see if it grabs me that way. Kinda like movies, I have never read a movie review to decide whether to watch a movie and never will.

True but movies don't tend to be $100. hehe. Anywho i love how we have this mentality of 'if it's crap i'll return it and get something else' funny that people don't really buy too many dvd's without either seeing them first or at the movies.
We dont get dvd returns for change of mind - while 20 times a day i get Mr Smith coming back saying, 'yeh i dunno - it just didnt do it for me.' _________________ Kill each other nicely please.

Ha, Legacy of Kain is more deserving of a sequel then Hitman, as long as they can do it well.
(opinions vary from person to person though, bah)
EDIT : Sin Ogaris I very much disagree, there's nothing wrong with the story, other then the countless plot holes, they just need to make it more violent and it'll prob suit you, thats what they did with Blood Omen 2, shame they sorta screwed up the story. _________________

I buy DVD's on a whim, it's how I found Erskineville Kings, Vertigo, Blue Murder and a ****load of other fantastic movies/shows.
As far as Legacy of Kain goes (moving on from my previous point) they need to piss off with all the story and just have Kain sucking people's blood, honestly, what else does anyone care about?

*shakes head* The story is the best thing about LoK, and if they make some crappy game where Kain just runs around biting peoples necks then I'll make sure that everyone sends at least 100 letters of complaints each. I don’t think there is a game that has a better story than LoK, and I even struggle thinking of a film/book that’s better story wise.
