Mine took about under 5 mins to download and damn i am really liking this experience. I will have to agree with admeister the avatars are useless but i think there funny.
(off topic) does anyone know why my avatar won't appear in the mygamercard sig?
If someone could pm why it would be very very helpful cheers. _________________

Anyone who is claiming that Avatars are a rip off of Mii's is forgetting the small fact that the Nintendo did'nt invent the concept. I mean geez, Sierra had an online service that let you design your character/online representation back in the very early days of the internet. _________________ www.redkingsdream.com

Haven't actually read the full thread so I hope no one has asked, but does this new update offer the option to turn disc-autostart off? So when I shove in a disc into the console it doesn't automatically turn it on? So far that has been my main annoyance with the 360. Otherwise its all been swing ^^

yep, auto start can be turned off. Can't remember where, but somewhere there is the option to turn this off. _________________ Please support my love of gaming by making your play-asia purchases through my affiliate link.

I'm just wondering what happened to the promised game shows ect? or are they being released later?
Also, anyone found out anything interesting that most of us probably didn't find? _________________

The only thing missing is the opportunity to actully do something with your avatars. Theres basicly just that gameshow thing at the moment isn't there? _________________

The avatars will grow over time I think. I think this is just the begining.
Well my gripe with the new release video list is fixed. So that's good.
It's really growing on me. It's really really slick and professional. _________________ Shin J Leon.

That's all well and good, but a lot of the facial features (damned near all of the eyes, at least) are pretty much pixel for pixel the same as those offered in Mii creation on the Wii.
It isn't just that they've taken the concept and run with it, but that they've shamelessly snatched a lot of the content for it from the closest point of comparison - which makes it pretty easy to call them on it.
Personally? I like it. There is an awful lot of missing functionality that will likely be added in via DLC packs, buit even then it's a fun way of personalizing your Gamertag. But even so, I think it's a bit weak that they haven't even tried to obfuscate their wholesale ripping off of Nintendo's design, or built upon it in any significant way. _________________

Lovin the new dash!
The only hiccough I had last night was when I tried to give UNO a go, cos I heard that now has avatar support, but it would only download two thirds of the UNO update and then freeze.
It's now fully downloaded and my little avatar is sitting there laughing and getting annoyed with the other players!
ah... the simple things...
Very slick looking and it'll be fun when they bring out some more (free) clothing options etc... _________________

I spent a while trying to find the section for XNA Community Games before finding out that, yet again, everyone outside North America gets shafted. Hooray.
I wanted to try out those games =/ _________________

plugged an external hard drive in with usb, and the amount of stuff it'll play is impressive, the 4mb optional media update thing that comes up definately adds a lot of good codecs, and there doesn't seem to be any limits on playing videos etc off it. very good. _________________

I think the arcade game "kelfings" or something takes advantage of them, too. Haven't downloaded it to try though.
The only complaint I can come up with regardling the Avatars is 1) not enough clothes (they've said they'll release more though) and 2) I don't like the random backgrounds they get in friendslist. You should be able to design your own background, or at least customise it a bit.
Sooo, any chance on a 120gb HDD price roundup? I'm sure I'm not the only one keen on picking one up thanks to the installs...!

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or nor, but Uno has been updated to include the Miis. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it is a nice little touch. _________________

my friend just sent my an xbox live message and its pretty funny:
| Quote: | I've got my new wii,
Its known as the nxe,
Unoriginal crap gee,
Is my new avatar a mii?
Even my friends list is changed on halo,
It smells of failo,
How annoyed am i - i've even written a rhyme,
I'm just happy i didn't waste a dime,
Why fix something that ain't broke?
Is this some kind of sick joke?
Well i'm gonna play my new wii,
Which is known as the nxe.

i don't necessarily think all of its true, but the rhymes pretty cool _________________

I've spent a good 3 days with this and I can say the new dash is kick butt. I think it does everything better and has raised the bar yet again for the standard across all the consoles. It also seems like the bugs have been ironed out over time (i.e. missing faceplates etc). _________________ Shin J Leon.
