It's alright, it's certainly a very modern sort of look, but I just don't find it as easy to navigate as the old system. The avatars are amusing, yet unneccessary imo. At least the Xbox button gets you to a more straight forward menu, and I like what they have going with the game info and the way acheivements are displayed. The HDD install feature should be great, I'll use it with Lost Odyssey as it has a huge effect. _________________

Awesome. The interface looks beautiful. Though I don't like the avatar thingy as they are obviously Mii rip-offs.

Who cares if the Avatars are like Mii's.
I really like the NXE, its a fresh look for the console. _________________

I think the avatars are okay, needs much more options though.
Oh and is it just me or is the Marketplace buggy as hell at the moment? _________________

It finally downloaded at midnight last night, so I only spent an hour or so playing with it, but so far looks pretty nice.
Saw one guy with a "Papa Lazarou" blackface avatar with dreadlocks, mine just looks like another badly-dressed white guy with helmet hair.

I don't like it at all.
It's cluttered and it takes for ever to find things. I liked the simple system of the old dashboard. I don't know why this is a compulsory download, couldn't MS have just released the tweaks for download and let us keep the old interface?

Downloaded yesterday afternoon for me, I find it great. It's clean and modern looking - sure it's a change to what you're used to but so what. Take a few seconds to explore the new layout and it wont be so difficult to navigate. Plus installing games to hard disk is great and should never have been removed!
Only thing we need in Australia is movie content - Netflix would be great, but even something like Bigpond Movies would be decent.
@The Genius
At least the "Mii rip-offs" heads are contextually proportional to their body

The marketplace is bugging out right now, cuz the servers are full, and I think some of the content is not fully implimented yet. One the server access dies down, it'll be back to normal, and as a PALGNer said in the forums - really fast.

Too cluttered? Play game, Gamercard, Games Library, Music, Pictures. You just go from left to right. It's clean and logical. The old dashboard was as cluttered as it gets, with random things all over the place.
The only thing I don't really like is the Friends setup, but the old list is in the guide anyway so there's nothing to really complain about.
I really don't understand how people are having such a hard time with it, it's smooth as(bar the marketplace which I think they may have to fix up a bit).
EDIT: @ Eggy: Yeah, thought might be the case, thanks. _________________

I thought the new dash was ok, I did feel that it wasn't as good as what Microsoft hyped it up to be.
I would say I was probably more use to the older blade design but this is different. I just have to give it more time to get use to it. I'm not that hot on the avatar idea, it's amusing to see what your friends come up with but the novelty wears off pretty quick.
I do like the whole "install to hard drive" thing, that's a welcomed addition.

The interface is fantastic, looks a heap better than the old one, and only took me a few minutes to find where everything now is (equate each blade of the old interface to an option in the vertical menu, basically). Everything loads super fast too - which is a huge improvement over the sluggish blades of the old system.
Avatars are servicable, but like Miis I made one and will most likely not pay attention to it from here on out. The 16:10 resolution support is disappointing, as it crops the screen to the nearest 16:9 resolution, chopping off about an inch and a half off my screen. It might be stretched, but I went back to bizarro 1280x1024 widescreen. The stretching is barely noticable and fills up my screen. _________________

Props on the League of Gentlemen reference.
As for NXE, more +'s than -'s in my opinion. An hour of mucking around and I'm already past it - yesterday's news.

Can't play any videos with it. When I go to the option to download the codec it hits me with another error. Well done, you took away one of the most used features with my Xbox. Not impressed at all.

I'm kinda annoyed at the lack of options for your avatar... there needs to be more options with the face..... _________________

I had a good play and impressed overall. I like the games section, it's so much better.
HOWEVER, why doesn't the new arrival game videos have previews for each title? You have to select each 'blank' xbox green entry to see what it is. Very sloppy M$, very sloppy indeed. I want this fixed ASAP.
Marketplace online is a pile of crap atm as well. _________________ Shin J Leon.

i like the new avatars - pretti cool making them and i like how you can take "snapshots" to make your gamer pic.
i wish they would have improved video playback/codec support though.

I don't like it, but I don't care too much. I prefered the blades GUI but I do like that this is sharper and less laggier when going about the interface. I'm glad you can rermove games with a gamerscore of 0. _________________

My suspicion is that the Xbox Team has a few too many people who really were looking to join Game Studios, not the Xbox Team. :P
*(Xbox Team, while sounding gamey, really is much more low-level and the only bit that is remotely like designing games would be the interface. It's still awesome work, but you can kind of see how the team really wanted to make something more than circuitry code here).

Having had a week to get used to everything, I think NXE is great. Now that every else has gotten it, it's time for the avatar stuff to come to life, methinks.
