i mean the patterns not the actual drumkits, they are both fisher price really, but i can't imagine doing so many yellow hits on the cymbal with wt drums, ouch _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

I was dead-set on picking up World Tour (game only) to use with our RB kit, but after reading this and watching a few youtube clips of the drums, I'm having second thoughts. Which sucks, because there is a lot of music on there that I'd like to play!
But yeah, the classic GH style of 'note highway' or whatever it's called really seems clumsy for the drums - all those round notes take up too much vertical space and it looks a little wonky, and what's with not having a solid marker across it for visually timing beats against? I much prefer the more precise, refined look of Rock Band's take on it.
Chimpy, what say you - is WT drumming worthwhile? _________________

a big no bingo on the wt drum patterns, so boring, my missus was just going, ah why is this one so boring compared to the other one, it just didn't feel like drumming compared to rb, and the hits are very loose, very very loose. you can mistime a hit by around a full second and it goes yep no worries there mate. But yeah rb felt like you were playing the actual drum pattern even on medium.
On wt, it is just a barrage of red and yellow notes.......also the song progressions in the track list feels weird, its like they got epic songs for every song but i think that was just boredom setting in. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

That's all the confirmation I need - thanks. It looked really loose, but I thought that might have been due to Youtube being a bit shit with syncing issues. Guess not.
I'll wait this one out - someone I know is bound to get it eventually, or I'm play it in a JB or something. If it turns out to be better than I expected I'll get it, but I'm certainly not going to go out and buy it before trying it now. _________________

My first impressions are similar, that the drumming in some songs is very boring ... but I'm sure that is only on the easier levels, because the game trys to get you comfortable with the drums by removing a lot of the notes. I haven't played Rock Band myself, but apparently they do the easier modes better by not removing so much of the "fun" notes while still keeping the experience fun to play.
I noticed this type of thing in GH3 with the easy levels, but as you progress through the set list, the songs start to get more fun to play as it takes you through the learning curve. Then, when you get better and start playing on medium and hard, the songs are A LOT more fun to play and you really feel the experience.
The drums in GH:WT are not as sensitive as I would like, but I haven't really had any problems with them. I would definately like to get the software and midi cable to play around with the settings though. It would have been good if they had of included this in the bundle, because I think it would be a nice feature to have.
I like the new Guitar. It is a little bigger and feels heavier and more sturdy than the Les Paul. The tilt to activate star power is much better, I found that I had to tilt it almost vertical before it activated, which is HEAPS better than my GH3 guitar, which would set star power off at the slightest bump.
Looking forward to playing some more tonight. _________________

I just picked up game-only GHWT this morning and having had Rock Band since UK launch I'm a bit hesitant towards it given this forum and everything else I've read. It seems anyone who has had RB for a while has somewhat negative things to say about the game itself! It's always good to have new songs so at this point (before having played it with friends this weekend) I'm glad I got the game-only and didn't fork out for another instrument pack. I think my 3 guitars, drum kit, 3 vocal mic's is enough for one room
Maybe when someone gets bored I'll grab their offloaded drums to give it a try _________________

So I have all the RB kit, is World Tour worth it at $68? I'm not convinced given all the other games I want to get and RB2 can be imported in about a week so... _________________

World Tour is hell worth it. It has alot more modes than RB and great songs, plus DLC.
I recommend it. _________________

Eye of the beholder I guess. I grabbed it because I just wanted some more tracks and to give it a try. The DLC for RB/RB2 destroys GHWT and I can't see that ever changing as they have proved game after game how incompetent they are at providing decent DLC with the GH games.
The modes, again, really up to what you want. I personally just want to play songs with friends so Band World Tour is the only mode I need. The stuff in GHWT might be good for checking out, but the meat will always be just doing the band tours with your friends/solo. _________________

^ Just to hammer the point about Rock Band's DLC - Check out this list - it is already pretty massive, and is added to weekly. _________________

True fact.
Seriously, who the hell would think "Coldplay" as a band you'd play in GHIII?
It's really down to who rides Activision the longest.
That and a full album download isn't over a gig in size in RB. _________________

So, I'm thinking about getting RB2/GH:WT for the Wii. Worth it?
I'm not really up with the technicalities for all the versions so I have a couple of questions;
- Are either of these titles missing any content in the Wii version?
- Is the equipment usable between the two and worth it? If I only have to buy one kit I'd rather do that.
- Is RB2 equipment backwards compatible with RB1? If so, I'll pick up RB1 cheap as chips to go with RB2/GH:WT hardware.
I should note that I have zero interest in online play. The GH/RB games, to me, are a billion zillion infinity times more enjoyable with friends in the room than online. _________________

I believe that is because it is in Rock Band 2, IIRC. Just like Everlong with the recent Foo Fighters release.
So either import that from the UK on the 21st Nov (assuming you have a 360) or wait until whenever the eventual Australian release is to get it.

Yeah, it's in Rock Band 2's setlist.
If you want that, buy it from the UK Friday. It'll cost ~$100, though, thanks to the economy. _________________

Ok, A little question about GHWT - does anyone have a slight crackle in their game- or is it really quiet? Its like one of those times where you have a mp3 player with its volume low plugged into an external speaker with its volume up high.
My tv vol is normally set to around 30 to get a reasonable sound on ps3 but i had this on 40 to get the same kind of volume and..yeah..i get the slight crackling...I dont quite know whats going on.
Anyone else had this problem? I went into the menu and messed around with the guitar volume in game and all but to no avail.. _________________

It is sad, somewhat.
The casual consumer will not know much about Rock Band, and even if they do they'll think it is a copy of Guitar Hero: World Tour because of the similar launch time in Australia, when it is more like the reverse. If it weren't for Rock Band I doubt World Tour would even exist.
*Sigh* If only the distribution channels were better outside of the US for Rock Band.

Well, when I bought Rock Band, the lady at the door said "Another Rock band, what is so good about this game", so I think a few people buy it.

I guess in the End Rock Band dug there own grave. They had plenty of time to bring this game out and stand out from GH but it looks like there left the run to late.
Well i tried out my GH drums and all i can say is there pretty lame. I know Rock bands drums get a hammering concerning there qaillity but the GH drums are just cheap. The stupid stand doesn't lock in properly and when you put a big of pressure on it it drops down. The symbols are just cheap and nasty. The main drum part is great i gotta say, hitting them with the drum sticks feels good. Its ashame the idea of the drums is great having the symbols and such but it just feels like a prototype to me that need alot more work. Im going back to my RB drums, they feel alot more better imo. Oh as for the new guitar its awsome. Feels real good and nice improvement on the GH 3 one.

To the people saying that the drums are an ultimately boring experience, Neversoft stated in an interview that the way songs were picked were "Guitar parts first, Drums second, Vocals last". They also just threw in "Party Songs" because they probably thought people would complain about everything else. _________________

I agree with the previous posts about GHWT drums being boring. I've been playing RB drums for a week now and I find that, no matter the difficulty setting, they have you playing just the right parts to make it feel like you are really playing the song.
On the other hand, GWHT feels extremely generic until you try expert difficulty. It looks like they removed any off-beat sections and reduced the variety of pads to make it easier, but at the same time having you hit more notes (usually hi-hat). I think this approach takes the fun out of playing drums.
At least guitar is fun, and my wife says the singing seems a bit better than RB.

I complained about the drumming, but as you go through to harder songs and harder difficulties it gets really fun. It's boring at the start when it's just red and yellow symbol. I like the songs when the symbol's are not primary buttons, like when you use the drums and then occasionally smash the symbols.
As for singing...I still haven't mastered it yet. I am fine on beginner, but I can not beat ANY songs on easy unless I cheat and just make a humming cat noise the entire time (get like 85% that way) which is no fun for anyone! Any tips? _________________
