Crap. I was hoping AC2 would be a whole new story with a new character (specifically some kind of Asian ninja type thing, which I thought was a given after the ending of the first one).
I really, really hope it's at least not in the middle east again.

Sludging through sewage to get to the next target maybe? Not glamorous, but probably practical. Then again, one wonders if they even had sewage back in those days...
Anyhow, I thought the next episodes were in a different setting (Oriental and South American?).

Like the cliché on The Simpson's Game, never let the player swim until the sequel.
I hope that this is just so that you don't die when falling in the water which was kind of silly, not forcing you into doing any swimming levels, which 99% of the time suck on any game. I still don't think that Altier will come back as the main character, but he could be in it for a little part. Or the guy could have even got the information wrong and just meant the main character in the game, after all I'd think that all of Desmond's ancestors would look at least a little similar. _________________

Nobody ever said it's the same Altair. He could be talking about a Chinese guy called Altair, maybe that's how they'll tie the games in the series together, the main character is always called Altair. _________________

This rekindling of Assassin's Creed makes me want to load it up again and have a play around... In fact, I'm going to do that after Rush.

I was really hoping Assassin's Creed 2 would involve a different memory character. Still Desmond and Lucy, but a different ancestor to play as and a different time period and setting. I can't really see how Altair could have much more to do in a sequel, it seemed like his job was done in the first game. _________________

Thank god they got rid of the insta-death water, angered me almost as much as in GTAIII. I'm assuming they mean an ancestor of Altair considering the link in the first game, would make the most sense and would allow for multiple time periods through multiple games (which equals more moneys). _________________

I would love an Assassins Creed modern day, mainly for snipers. It would be awesome exploring roofs of buildings, and insides of buildings, to find the best spot to take the person out. It could have 3 cities, and every building detailed and explorable on EVERY floor. That would be pretty fun. And not a run and gun, a really tactical game where you have to plan your position, your escape route etc.

Yeah, but can you image how crap fights with police/getaways would be if everyone had guns? They need to keep it in the time before firearms in order for the gameplay to not suffer. _________________

I'm happy to play as Altair again, so long as they set it in a different era.
Feudal Japan would be cool, as would London and Paris during the Industrial Revolution.

They can't change too much, they left the game on such a damm cliff hanger they can't just go "BAM!" diffrent charecters now.
Am I the only one thinking Feudal Japan would be really boring? That setting has just been played to death I rekon. _________________

Fair call Benza.
I think the Industrial Revolution is a better fit for the AC series anyway.

I would have liked Assassin's Creed 2 to be set in the real world with Desmond as the playable character. Altair's powers were bleeding through the Animus in the first game, so we could have had Desmond escaping from Abstergo and trying to track down the remaining Assassins and chasing Abstergo around the world. _________________

I have a feeling that's going to be the final installment. Maybe during the second title Desmond sneaks around and learns more about the company and the finale will be him escaping, then the final title will be about him finding the remaining assassin's and chasing Abstergo. The only downside is that if it's set in modern day, it will become a run and gun shooter moreso than a stealth oriented game. If you have access to weaponry you're going to use it, of course if you don't get access to weaponry but your enemies do... well, that's just hardcore.
I guess Mirror's Edge will be a good indication of how this style game will work in a modern/futuristic environment, so maybe I'll reserve my judgement of that call until it's released and I've tickered with it.

AC was the most repetitive game i've played in a long while. Go to bureau. Assasinate. Bureau. Assasinate. I couldn't wait for the game to end.
Hopefully they mix it up a bit for number 2.

You bought a game where you are an assassin, and you expected your missions not to be assassinate? Tough crowd. _________________

i liked the idea of a game during the industrial revolution or something!.
Seriously out of everything the main thing i would like to see in AC too is different approaches to assissinations. Hitman blood money does this perfectly. ETC: you can run in and gun, try sneak behind takign everyone out till you get for to him/her, or go for awesome kills that vary each mission: etc replace a fake gun with a real gun during a play, then drop a chandalier on another guy! poisen peoples drinks and stuff. More variety. I dont care when its set.

Not even close to what i posted. What I mean is there was no variety. Apart from every each target having a different name and location, the kills were all the same. Gathering info on each target was always via the same mini-games (eavesdrop, persuade, etc). It felt like i was playing the same mission over and over.

I think some games are built in such a way that you pick your own path, and so it is up to the gamer to try different tactics and methods of play and not just try get to the target as fast as possible and take the easiest, quickest approach. Of course it is a very boring game, from a clinical perspective, as you can achieve the goals by doing the most efficient actions, however you can have great fun approaching the same problem in a variety of ways.
A lot of people lately have been jumping on games, saying they don't force the player to do different things in order to win, but that may actually be the fault of the gamer for not being creative. Heaps of people complained that The Force Unleashed was boring and repetitive, and you could get through the entire game just boosting your lightsabre and slashing mindlessly, but I found I was constantly using different combos and force power combinations to dispatch my foes. I guess what I'm saying is lack of imagination on the gamer's end shouldn't be counted as a fault of the game: A game can be as interesting or as boring as you make it. _________________

the player can only use the tools that the developer puts at their disposal.
trust me, i don't rush through games. i take the time to learn all the combos whenever i play a game but the fact is AC had limited combo's. the counter-attack was basically push a button and see which random kill animation you get. sure you can switch weapons to get different kills or take different routes to get to the target or use stealth but in the end it was still the repetitive.
we'll just have to agree to disagree.
