'sif have a conversation about me without me.
Seriously though, does it matter who is better at what genre? I mean really? I know I am inconsistent with FPS games and that is fine with me, but at the same time I also know that I am good enough to finish something or reach a goal within the genre if I keep at it. If that wasn't the case then I wouldn't have Gears finished, Halo 3 finished (until the new achievements anyway) and so on. I aim on finishing Call of Duty 4 too, so I look forward to that challenge. Honestly though, I am sort of over the fact that every second game has guns in it these days.
As for racing games, yes I play them a lot and yes I've spent many hours going for the harder 1ks in Ridge Racer or whatever. Racing games are my forte after all and I'd rather have every single racing game on my card completed than I would any other game, but with that said the completionist in me will always see me try and complete game's achievements as much as I can.
That said, I guess you could say that I am sort of over them as well. Well not over them but I am not in as much of a rush to get them as I used to be. It's no secret that Gears 2 will become my main game when it hits (got 100,000 kills to get after all...) and if that means I don't get 1k in any other game in the meantime, then so be it. Fun before completion, thank you.
In saying that, I'm quite close to finishing GRID 1000/1000. Got two or so easy achievements left in the single player and then I will focus on racing online until I get Online Elite and Online Legend. _________________

^ didnt mean it as competition man needless to say you are a racing god. And I feel the same as you, If your having awesome fun with a game such as cod4 online, stuff achievements until you have nothing really to paly. Im in one of those modes atm where till gears 2 there is no really big online game i wanna play, so im just going through getting as many 1000/1000's as possible.
Btw for grid what do you have to do to get online elite and legend?

^ Just gain experience from racing online. Not to be an arse or anything, but people who aren't very good at racing games could eventually get the achievements as you get a point or two no matter what place you come. But yeah, you need to keep gaining experience and it takes a long time. _________________

Just completed Soul Cal IV 1000/1000. Took me just shy of 50 hours to get all the achievements. Fighting games + achievements = epic. Love it. _________________ Shin J Leon.

at the moment working on tetris revolution. Apparently its ranked as a pretty hard 1000 (9/10 hardness on achieve 360 or whatever) but im working through it strongly.. got gold in about half the game modes. there is 1 that will be insane though and i need to get the online achievements but not many people if any play online anymore

Funny that you mention Tetris Evolution and it's 9/10 difficulty ranking on achieve360points. I just got my last achievement on it to give me the 1000/1000!
The hardest achievements were the multiplayer ones as there is no one else playing the damn game! To be honest I found the full 1000/1000 to be easy but then again I am a Tetris freak. I got the 1000 after 2 sittings and took me about 3-4 hours to get. I even managed to get a few scores in the top 1000 in a few game modes, most notably marathon mode both fixed and variable. _________________

Sweet just finished the 1000/1000 in tetris evolution. It wasnt too hard but you need to be pretty skilled at tetris for some of the achievements (clear 40 lines in 2 minutes, get 17 tetrises in a row in 4 minutes)

To those who have Lost Odyssey and have completed it and its achievements, did you guys use a guide and if so could you point me in the direction of it?
Once I finish Eternal Sonata I will be playing Lost Odyssey and as it is a RPG and therefore a long game, I would really like to maximise game/achievement potential during my playthrough(s). Thanks in advance. _________________

You are looking at 100+ hours easily for 1000 gp. I got to about 80 hours and gave up. It became a grind session.

It can be done faster with a playguide provided you have the missing location of one of the treasure items that doesn't appear in the Prima playguide. I think my sister finished the full 1100/1100 including the DLC in about 70 hours. Either way its going to take a while. _________________

I got my first 1000 tonight, Assassin's Creed is done and dusted. Pretty easy to get the final two on the second playthrough as I flew through each area. So w00t for me at achieving something today. I'll plug away at FEAR some more this weekend and get a bit of Condemned in too, I have a few games that need finishing before Dead Space, Fallout 3 and everything else releases.
As an aside, awesome "Nny" sig and av you've got there chickenplucka.

I found a pretty cool tool on 360voice that turns all your completed games into a sig.
It seems to be missing a few games though. (2 retail, 1 xbla) _________________

Mega Man 9… is done!! I had to go through Wily 3 freakin times to get Conservationist, and have a full-proof strat if anyone’s interested. Its not even that it was overly difficult, just majorly annoying to go through and get nothing for it. I hate waiting for the credits, then to have them finally end and not see that little green circle pop up. But I’m glad I can move on now.
| LeonJ wrote: | | Bloody Tears wrote: | | My 1k retail games are: Ninja Gaiden 2, Devil May Cry 4, Lost Odyssey and Virtua Fighter 5. |
R u serious? Holy crap, the amount of hours (and skill) you would have needed to get those. What's ur Live account name. I want to check your gamercard out.
Add me, LeonJ. |
Leon, a decade later and I’ve finally read your post! I know – I suck
Anyway, I added you. I had some issues lately with the net but am good to go now. Oh, and VF5 is the only game I don’t have a 1000 for on my current profile… I managed to get it soon after release (it was by far the easiest out of the games I mentioned) but had issues with my original profile, which left me starting from scratch. You still owe me a match from back in the day, man
| Chopbusted wrote: | | And well done to Bloody Tears for getting 1000 in Devil May Cry 4. I only got 180 and I beat it on 2 different difficulty levels! |
Cheers Chops (can I call you that?)! Hey, you say you only go for 1k’s which don’t take you ages to get, yet you have CoD4… I hear that one’s not too easy. A friend of mine always holds that one over my head whenever such conversation comes up. Revenge will be my motivation!
| ObsoletE wrote: | | achievements, yes, gamerscore, no. |
I would plus you for summing up the topic in 4 words, but it would seem I’m too late. The least I can do is bring up your point again.
Anyway, Lost Odyssey, like any other RPG, requires very little skill in order to get that perfect file. But I had a blast playing it and found it to be one of the best RPG’s going round. Nismo - I never used a walkthrough but often found my way to the Gamefaqs boards. I hate spoilers, and even more so when it comes to RPG’s, so I made sure to browse with caution. Just for reference, my final time was 110 hours or so. Anything in particular after you start playin, and I’d be glad to help. I’ve got my little notepad dribble in case I ever revisit the game.
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of earning a worthwhile achievement. Things are the same as they’ve always been, only now it’s more glorified. What was the point of getting that perfect FF file other than satisfaction and bragging rights? What about the pain of S-ranking Contra: Shattered Soldier on the PS2? Or double S-ing all of DMC3? Dominating Shinobi? It’s the same sh!t, only now its taken shape through natural progression and become more about community. Those that complain about it now never really saw the point back then.
But I’ll agree to some extent. It’s obvious that a good portion of developers have missed the point entirely when it comes to achievements. I think many feed off that in an attempt to justify their ways, either because the challenge is too great and they’ve given up, or because they genuinely find pleasure in getting something for nothing. Hours of tedium should never translate into an accomplishment, and developers should be ashamed for attempting to put forth such a message.
I think that’s what it comes down to, at least for me, as I’ve never really understood the appeal of (or desire to boost) overall gamerscore. Every time I see those people with 300k+ (that’s right – 3-Hundred-Thousand-Points!!) I can’t help but sigh in disbelief. Usually followed by a shake of the head and an attempt to remember what I was doing beforehand.
Blah, blah, I’m done. Next game on the list - …Fable 2!
