I've been looking at these, how many story archs are in each? |
ok, well i grabbed Omnibus 5 today, so that will handily allow me to answer the question.
this particular volume contains 368 pages, 7 stories. but these range from one-shots, to over 100 pages, so 4, maybe 5 issues.
the first story in this one is actually scripted by Jane Espenson, and is very good - i'd say canon quality. (it's called Haunted in case anyone out there knows it - although there is a printing error, where Willow and Buffy's speech bubbles are attributed to the wrong person in one panel.)
i suppose that's the issue with the omnibuses (omnibi?), the actual stories aren't Canon except for the one that re-writes the original BTVS movie script.
that and the first comics written (omnibuses 2, 3 and to some extent 4) are mostly rubbish. 5 has so far been pretty good.
if anyone cares, Omnibus 5 is set after season 3. starts the day after the Major's Ascension (this is the Jane Espenson scripted arc), there's a few pre-college issues, and during the college days.
and i also, finally, picked up copies of:
The Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes (Volume 1)
The Snadman: The Dollhouse (Volume 2).
it's been over 10 years since i first read The Sandman, and despite not really wanting to spend $40+ on each volume, i finally decided that they're worth it to read them again. i will eventually get the remaining 9 Volumes in the main collection, and the side-stories and spinoffs.
also very nearly bought a TPB of The Shield comics.
i didn't even know there were comics based on the show, but i'm quite wary of it. has anyone read them, and could recommend them? _________________

As for your set up I guess two amps would suit you best, a 4 channel for the fronts and rears, then a 3 channel (provided one channel has a greater RMS figure for the subs) for the rest. Also some good amp brands include Kicker, JBL, Audison and Hertz. Among others.
What you want to look for is make sure they have a good RMS rating, and that you do some research, some of the shoddier brands actually don't output what they claim whereas you pay a bit more and get greater than expected (like with Kicker, each comes with a certificate of expected output and is generally always above and beyond the claim on the box). |

$40+? I haven't spent more than $30 on a single volume.
Speaking of which, I'll finally have the money to get volume #5 tonight.
No idea about The Shield comics by the way. I've seen the single issues floating about my local comic store, but I've not checked them out. _________________

yeah, that's what sucks about the Perth comic scene. for a looooooong time there was only 1 comic shop, so they had a monopoly on everything, and so they pretty much charge what they like.
we recently got a new shop, but i think it's actually owned by the same people, despite being a different name, as i've seen the "checkout chicks" working both stores, and the prices are pretty similar.
individual issues aren't too badly priced, but TPBs and HCs are usually way overpriced compared to retail prices i've seen on the few eastern state's stores that have prices online. (i say "usually" as some books are bizarrely cheap, with no real reason - Wanted, V for Vendetta and Watchmen were all under $30 iirc)
unfortunately, the price of shipping books to WA takes a huge saving and makes it marginal, sometimes even more expensive unless you're ordering in bulk.
i guess the main problem is i buy books sporadically, at best, although with The Sandman series, there's another 9 books so ordering in bulk is definitely a consideration.
i did this with the Sin City books a few years back. got all 7 books, shipped, for the cost of what i could get 3 for if i'd been to the comic shop.
actually, Comics in Perth seem to follow the same pricing scheme as Videogames do. not a Nerd friendly state i guess...
Borders opening in Perth was also good, as they are a third option, but the condition of the older books is typically bad. it's obvious they've been "browsed" too much _________________

Not as much as you would think depending on where you go. Eg For my sound equipment, I go to JB hi-fi and usually try to talk them into selling me it a bit cheaper.
In any case, its money well spent. _________________

Welcome to the World of car audio. The most expensive mob I listed there, Audison, you'd be looking at:
Srx4 (4 channel): $569
Srx3 (3 CHannel): $700
For their entry level amps. Of course, this is retail and you won't be paying retail prices because most places tend to do deals.
If money is an issue you could get away with a 2 channel amp to power your fronts, rears and shelf speakers (connect all left's to one channel, all rights to another) this will probably negate any sort of soundstage you were trying to create though. If you're going this way you'd want about 200 watts per channel. Which is fairly easy to come by.
Just jump in JB and ask the car audio guys, they'll have far more experience than me and will genuinely try and help you out (seeing as they want you to leave with something, they're not going to try and screw you over because you'll just walk out the door, I would hope).

just had a quick look on Amazon, and they have the other Sandman books (3-11, and the spinoffs) for between $10USD and $15USD, so i'm definitely going to look into shipping, and will probably order them this way.
also found The Maxx books.
man i wish the show would get a DVD release. i used to love it. _________________

Just picked up Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty at JB. Wasn't expecting to see it on the shelf there after the hassles some people seem to have had tracking down a copy.
Also had Dr Who: Four to Doomsday turn up on DVD this morning, and the Trial of a Timelord set has now shipped from the UK, so some a decent chunk of Dr. Who TV watching coming up _________________

I love my pets and to comfort them more is next to godliness....
Check my pets on their raised wooden apex, they love it , also 4 cushions for their comfort as well as a 2 dog doghouse which they love curling up in.
Fkers that abuse their pets whether treating them unsubstantially or keeping them in some small confined space..well you shouldn't have pets in the first place if you haven't adjusted to their lifestyle.Don't think of yourself, they need their freedom too. _________________

I completely agree. My dogs are pampered beyond belief. In the house we are building we are even building a super size kennel for them, one that even I can walk into and play around with them. I know its extreme but they need their home comforts too even being outdor dogs.
Ofcourse where I volunteer I see many dogs abandoned, which I then look after until a new owner is found, which has probably caused me to get over protective of my own to extreme levels.
