It would be good to see them form a new group, always enjoyed their age of empire games just a pitty it had to end like this. Makes you wonder if it'll affect the overall quality of Halo Wars now that they know their job's are finished after production.

Hopefully it will be the opposite in that they will do their best work for a final hurray, showing their talents.

From what I can guess, I dare say MS is more focused on winning the console side of things. A primary PC internal study doesn't fit in with those plans.

I agree about them forming a new group. It's a real shame that Microsoft can't see how valuable they are.
Though I don't see how they are only PC - Halo Wars is a 360 exclusive. Maybe MS is finding that their PC skillset is hampering the way they work on the 360, though I doubt that is the case; of all consoles, the 360 is probably the most similar to a PC (DX9 etc).

Actually the PS3 is most like a PC. It has a CPU that can run a specialised version of Windows, has a unmodified DX9 Nvidia graphics card.
I'd assume Microsoft will be dropping the majority of their PC studios as Direct X 10.1 looks to be the last version of Direct X due to Intel's Larabee and whatever Nvidia comes up with which won't use Direct X or OpenGL.
