Depending on the results tomorrow they'll either face Brisbane in Brisbane or elimination.
Horrible performance though and these past two finals have been absolutely disgraceful. _________________

^ I think we'll be taking you on then Petey. No way Storm will lose.
It sucks the Raiders have so many injuries, its been so long since we've been in the finals and to have so many guys on the shelf is such a killer. Still I'm happy they've made it, but would not be happy if they performed the same way next week.
I think they do have the problem with 1 vs 8 etc.. that they are clearly at different skill levels so you can get blow outs. Friday nights game was always probably going to be the closest. Though I did fancy the Raiders to at least keep it close. _________________

i seem to think differently i think warriors could take this game, a damp ground will probably benefit the warriors so i think it will be a close match but i think the warriors will force the storm to play next week, even though 8 has never beaten 1.
warriors are a much stronger side then knights and knights beat melbourne 2 weeks ago, and coming off an easy win against souths aint gonna do them any justice, and if warriors play as well as they did last week against the eels with 93% efficiency (completion rate 69/39) they will really make it a tough ask for the storm.
so my prediction warriors by 1-12 _________________

Wow what a game and what an ending. I honestly thought the same as you Cro, that the Warriors would come close at the first time then get smashed in the second. I do like Canberra, but I am glad that they are knocked out as they played absolutly pathetically last night. It's fair that the Dragons and Raiders are the two teams to get knocked out. Anyway, this was one of the best games of rugby league I have ever seen in my life. Sure there were not much tries, dubious calls and tons and tons of penalties, but this is a huge upset. I'm pretty sure that NZ were like $6.30 favourites! It also shows how much I dislike Melbourne that I was going for NZ so hard.
But that means that the Broncos have to vs Melbourne next week. I know that we would have to vs them (probably) eventually to win the final, but this is the worst scenario to play them I feel. At least it's not at Olympic Park, but playing he Storm the week after a loss is huge, I honostly still think that they are the favourites to win by far as I can't see anyone beating them aside from NZ obviously and possibly Broncos on their day. Anyway, I'll be at the game next week to hopefully see us get up. _________________

^ Well hot damn, you were right Mr Solids. Can't believe it. To be honest I hadn't really considered the possibility that the Raiders could be eliminated this week because I thought for sure the Storm would execute the way they always do. But nope, Warriors are definitely their bogey team. Part of me wanted Canberra gone to save them and me the emotional trauma of another certain loss but I still would have liked to go and see them at Suncorp. Now I guess it will be:
Warriors vs Roosters in NZ
Broncos vs Storm at Suncorp
Manly and Cronulla get the week off. Winner of Warriors vs Roosters will take Cronulla and Broncos vs Storm will get Manly I think.
I'm going to go and mourn for Canberra now. I'm still proud of them though, to do as well as they did with all the injuries. I'd like to see any other team do as well as Canberra have done minus a starting halfback, hooker, fullback, centre, etc etc. Here's hoping for 2009.

i don't think it needs deleting, just say at this stage that there is a rumour that 3 players are in deep s**t. even their names didn't really need hiding (imo) but i guess it's safer this way.
we'll know soon enough if you (and your source) were correct. _________________

names will eventually come out, how could something of this magnitude be kept quiet, remember ths bulldogs saga? pretty silly thing to do really, i mean just cause you can play footy doesnt mean every girl will want to sleep with you....
makes you wonder though, surely they didnt just grab some girl and assault her? she probably gave them/one of them some kind of signal...i dont know, seems to be a bit of a cliche these days.... _________________

I wasn't home after 1 pm yesterday arvo til about 3 am so when I turned the tv on this morning and heard the Warriors got up I thought it was just the hangover. Then I realised I wasn't that hung over and we were out. Sucks they had to play so shit in the finals! _________________

It's been revealed the culprits are Karmichael Hunt, Sam Thaiday and Darius Boyd. All three players are represenatives and only one of them is intending on leaving the club next year.
To break down the scenario illustrated by the Daily Telegraph.
1) The female offered oral sex to these three players
2) Oral sex became full blown sex between her and two of those players
3) The third player whips out his camera phone and begins recording the act which is where consent has apparantly not been given.
To make matters interesting the incident wasn't reported to police until the females friend encouraged her to go to the police. I think there is something definatly up there.
To be honest though this story doesn't surprise me one bit. I've heard a lot of stories about Hunt and Boyd causing mischief around town and I'm glad they've finally been named and shamed in the media.
But in saying if the Broncos management does the right thing, I believe their season and mine as a fan is well and truly over. What a shame...
Cro I couldn't believe it either! I was sweating on a Melbourne victory so the Broncos could score an easy victory over the Raiders the following week but the Warriors pulled out all the stops. Manu Vatuvei and Ian Henderson in particular were superb for them and the Storm could never gain the ascendancy for long through out the match.
Trying to score back to back victories was always going to be tough for the Broncos. But if the alleged players are to be dealt with I believe it'll sadly become Mission Impossible. _________________

Well Broncos fans, I'm truly sorry. I watched the whole game last night and was rooting for the Broncos the whole way:
a) Because they're my unofficial second team since I live here
b) I wanted to see the Storm get knocked off their pedestal
There's no question I think that the Broncos deserved to win more than the Storm. It must truly be devastating to have lost the way they did. All I can think is that you guys must really, really hate Ashton Sims now. All he had to do was take the hit up and not drop the ball, get to the end of the set, belt it downfield and that would have been it. But nooo, he had to spill it.
So again, my condolences.

I don't even want to think about this. I am absolutly gutted. I could rant and rave about the many many chances we had to secure the game or at least further out of their grasp that we squandered, but I don't feel like talking about the game too much atm. All I will say is that ...
1. We had so many uncompleted sets and errors
2. We were ahead in on the scoreboard and played like we were trailing, looking for the miracle ball.
3. We were outscored by a team with one less player on the field!
4. I am more angry that it is Melbourne, I hate that side so much.
And lastly, about Ashton Sims!!! We paid, what, $270 000 to loose the Premiership. He's done next to nothing all season, along with Joel Cliniton (who i also don't rate one bit) was the reason Petro was booted out of the club. Honostly, Sims may as well pack up his bags and leave. If he did an SBW now, I don't think anyone would be sad too see him go or hold a grudge for leaving, but sadly that won't be the case. Even I could have taken that hit up, submitted to a soft tackle, taken 5-10 second to get up (which wouldn't be hard with the Storm cheating around the ruck) and then we would have won the game. I've said more than I originally wanted, so I will wrap up and say go NZ and Cronulla next week end. There is no way that the Storm deserve to make the grand final. _________________

so who is everyones pick for the big boring replay on sunday?
this is one of those grand finals that just has very little interest from me to sides that i dont really like watching, but its the grand final so that means i will watch it.
but I'm really hoping manly win, im sick of melbourne and i would think it would be a fitting end to the legend Steve Menzies career, a guy that no matter if he scores a thousand tries against you team will still be a guy that you cant hate.
then to add more to my hate of melbourne is Craig Bellamy whinging about bloody everything, first the Cameron Smith grapple tackle (which if it was any other teams player especially manly's he would of applauded it), and now the salary cap, every bloody team has problems with the salary cap and losing young talent but he cant seem to work out that every bloody team in the nrl are having problems with it and its not just the storm.
everything about the storm just seems so damn arrogant and up themselves and i really think they need to be absolutely flogged this sunday to make them realise the world doesnt revolve around them.
ok enough of all that. my picks for this sunday are:
NSW Cup - Newtown Jets by 6 over Wentworthville Magpies
Toyota Cup - Broncos by 8 over the Raiders
then the big one - Manly by 14 over the Storm _________________

Personally I think that the Storm will just scrape home, although I really want Manly to win due to most of the reasons you stated john_solids. I don't really care about the NSW Cup, but I am disappointed about the amount (or lack of) of coverage for the U20s competition. Fair enough it's only on foxtel, but there's been next to nothing about our U20s team in the paper. I would have thought that as soon as the Broncos lost to the storm we'd be hearing a lot more about our young guys, especially when no one really cares about the 2 teams left (from Brisbane).
I do think that the Storm's run is coming to an end and they won't be as great a team in 2009, but I still think that they deserve to be favourites for the grand final as they have the wood over Manly and still have an amazing amount of rep players in their side. I won't be able to stand seeing them win as I hate Bellamy with a passion and everything that the Storm stands for. All I want on Sunday is Manly to win (I don't care by how much) just to see Ryan Hoffman and his mates have a cry like in 2006. _________________
