Beat Mega Man 1 & 2 today.. hence the new avatar.
Mega Man 2: I still don't get why this is the king of the series though the final boss fight is quite the awesome
Mega Man 1: I've played about five different versions of this, most recently Mega Man Powered Up. Though today I played through the Wiley Wars version.... God I hate this game. anyone who says they can get through the last level without dying is a filthy liar.

Picked up a couple of PSP games, not been giving it enough love recently. WALL-E is amazing; I love the film, I love the game, one of the best movie-game adaptations I've played. I may be biased being a crazed fan, there are frame-rate/pop-in issues, but other than that it's very well done; controlling WALL-E is a dream.
Also Lego Indy, another great game; certainly no film bias either, I'm not a big fan of them, but you can't go wrong with the Lego platformers.
Great thing about both games is the lifespan, loads of collectibles and extras, exactly what I needed.
Also playing WoW to kill some time over the summer. No job, mates are in Europe.. nothing to do. Trying to rocket my 66 Rogue to raid-land. _________________

Currently playing Ninja Gaiden II, but I'm a pansy and playing it on Acolyte. I wasn't enjoying it on Warrior (got to point of almost throwing the and smashing the controller). It's much more fun for me on Acolyte.
Also got back into Gears with some friends. Took a bit of time to learn the controls again. A little annoyed how they changed the roadie run controls. I'm finding it hard to just roadie straight at someone or weave left and right around cover. Still, got back into the swing of things and had HEAPS of fun. Only a little over 3 months and Gears 2 time!

Super Metroid
Finally finished. The final boss battle sequence...wow. How confused was I as to what the hell was going on . Playing the game in a disjointed fashion and over quite a period of time was to blame there I think as I totally forgot how the game started hence not knowing what was going on at the end till I looked up a FAQ after finishing
Zack and Wiki
Started playing this now I've finished Super Metroid. A great game, can be a little frustrating at times. I'm currently stuck on the final Fire level, trying to figure out what I guess is maybe the last move. I find myself getting quite compulsive about not using revive and restart a level from the beginning. Same for the Oracle Doll hints. Refuse to use them . Always going for max HirameQ points. The game is quite addictive, has had me up till 3am a couple times already.
Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel
Just finished 'playing' through this. This is where me not reading the manual comes in. I was most of the way through the story sitting back and watching before I found out there are things to 'collect' as you go through. I'm not compulsive enough to go back and go through it again to get them. So this 'game' is now done. Plot seemed more complex than I remember from playing the game way back when. Interesting how my mind has merged some of the events from MGS1 and MGS2. Will definitely get the second digital graphic novel when that comes out.
So now I'm onto Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for my handheld fix. _________________

So i finally finished metal gear solid 4 on the weekend and it was awesome. The game was a blast to play and i didnt spend any time being pedantic about collecting everything, but after sitting through the entire saga in the last 12 months I want to go through it all again so I can really get my head around the story. I also fell like completing the games 100% as I think that these games reward the efforts.
after that completion i have started devil may cry 2 begrudgingly as I think a lot of people dont like that game.
I also started bioshock and found it a bit difficult on the regular difficulty maybe im a bit too gun happy but i ran out of ammo just before the first 'boss fight' and found it too hard to get past. maybe ill just start again with a walkthrough...
i also gave viva pinata another go from the beginning. this game is awesome and i look forward to really getting my teeth into it.
meanwhile i am still levelling up characters in final fantasy III and retracing my stps through the game so i can get a higher percentage completion. _________________

don't ask. I used to never have time but its freed up a lot now, although now that i am back at uni for 5 weeks and chinese lessons once a week and full time work its getting a bit more difficult to achieve. but it wont be long and my time will be more dedicated to the love of games.
plus i dont hire any of my games which gives me more time to play them _________________

For stretching my browser.
Anyways, Mass Effect. Has gone from a 'could have been great' game to my favourite 360 game.. wow. The story really picks up the pace and I'm playing it every night habitually now. What I love is how much care and attention BioWare have put into every facet of the game, every person in the game world you can interact with has a backstory, and I just love sitting back with the awesome dialogue wheel, getting every bit of info out of every person I meet. (Haven't ranted about the dialogue wheel, and I won't because all I need to say is that it is awesome and every RPG should have one. Every game should have one )
There are three factors that are most important to me in a game - the soundtrack, the plot and the characters. Mass Effect really excels in all three of those areas.. normally with game soundtracks, I like the loud, epic, over the top orchestral ones. Mass Effect has stuff like this, but also has subdued, moody and atmospheric tracks that suit the pace of the game so well, appropriately building up to the more epic stuff in combat. The storyline is full of surprises as well and it's really enthralling, I really don't want to do sidequests because I just want to find out what happens next!
The characters are also well constructed - however I feel they are underused. I cared enough about two of the characters that I felt torn when I had to choose between them, but of your main squad, if you don't pick them to come around with you, you'll only really see them in end mission briefings where they will say 1-2 lines of dialogue. I suppose it can't be helped in an open game like this, but I find these really well constructed characters (going from the conversations you can have with them on the Normandy) and I just think it's a shame they aren't used in the storyline more.
Also, I must say the exploration system feels very.. stripped. But in a good way - at first I thought 'wow.. this feels so disconnected from the core of the game', but then I realised it only made sense for it to feel this way. Exploring uncharted planets means there's no one else there but your crew of three, the atmosphere BioWare have created during these sections is spot on and you actually begin to feel lonely while traversing the land. When I found a bunker in a side mission on an uncharted world, you really begin to feel tense and scared about what you might find in there, I found myself carefully looking around corners since I had no idea what to expect, crouching behind cover and the like. That's immersion.
Sooo yes another rant (geez, what's that, three on Mass Effect now? I'll shutup for a while haha..), I'll definitely be picking the game up on PC as well sometime down the track (experience it without the disappointing lag). _________________

I finished Assassin's Creed over the weekend and came away quite satisfied from the experience. Sure, I could see the repetitive side of the game that everyone had problems with but for me it wasn't an issue and as such I enjoyed the game a lot more. The usual aspects of the game (graphics, soundtrack etc) were great and definitely added to the immersion. A bit random here but the sound effects for the assassinations/attacks you can do sound pretty awesome as well. Speaking of fighting in the game, while at first it felt weird I now absolutely love the system and would like to see it implemented in more games. I mean, imagine a Pirate game with similar swordplay to AC (but with perhaps more options), it would be totally sweet.
The thing that really made the experience satisfying is the ending moments of the game. Maybe not necessarily for what happens, but more for seeing the potential that this story has. I won't go into detail to save for spoilers, but, the story has a lot of potential and I really hope Ubisoft can realise this potential when they get to work on the inevitable sequel.
I'm also still playing through Call of Duty 4 but due to getting 'stuck', I haven't touched it in a few days. I'm up to a part where you have to head downhill towards a helicopter, going away from a barn where you find the Javelin that you used to take down some tanks. Now I'm not stuck because of not knowing where to go or whatever, moreso just stuck because of the amount of enemies that you have to fight on the way down hill. I can get to the road reasonably easily but after that I just die too quickly, mostly because by the time I realise which direction I am getting shot from it's too late and I am dead. Up until this point, I breezed through the game (Hardened) so I am confident I will pass it soon enough but time will tell.
On and off for like 4 months now, but I am still playing Metal Gear Solid 2 as well. There is no particular reason as to why I stop playing it time and time again, I just do. When I do play it though I enjoy it and look forward to seeing it through to the end. It's weird but playing MGS 2 makes me want to play Snake Eater again, not to mention of course MGS 4 now as well but that will have to wait...
One thing I have realised though while playing MGS 2 is that, well, I don't think I am a fan of the gameplay of Metal Gear games. It's not necessarily the stealth, but I dunno it just feels like a chore sometimes trying to get through certain rooms and I realised that I don't enjoy it that much. I don't understand it though as I absolutely love the boss battles and of course the story as a whole so yeah, I'm not sure what to think anymore. I'd still rate the games very highly (Snake Eater is one of my favourite games I have ever played) but yeah, I don't know. You can tell I have no idea how to describe what I mean here.
Other than those games, I am also playing Ridge Racer 6 (again - going for my no-crash victories this time), Super Mario Sunshine (98 Shines so far) and Pokemon Ruby (just versed the 6th Gym). _________________

My brother asked to borrow my Nintendo 64 on the weekend, so I got it out last night and gave it a test run to see if it still worked.
Goldeneye Years on, this game is still great. Running, gunning, blowing stuff up. Shooting people in their limbs and having them grab at it.
Perfect Dark Years on, this game is still great. Running, gunning, blowing stuff up and getting shot :/
Although I must say playing this on my 42 Inch LCD made me feel like throwing up, I think I might have to plug it into my smaller CRT.

I downloaded Super Stardust HD and Theme Hospital on PSN last night and I must say Super Stardust is quite addictive I also got my first Playstation trophy last night so im glad I finally have a game that makes use of the trophy system. Theme Hospital is the same as I remembered gameplay is great and some of the diseases the patients come in with are hilarious. Whats good is I can remote play it on my PSP.
Apart from those two I am still playing Mass Effect which I have taken a break from just recently. The story has picked up a bit since I last played it but I think im on the cusp of it sucking me in, just need that extra push to get me over.... _________________

I finished my Metal Gear run today, I've played through MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 in the past week. This was my introduction to the series, and I have to say I'm quite impressed, I can definitely see why the series is held in such high regard by many gamers. MGS4 is an excellent game for so many reasons.
While I'm on the topic of MGS4, something awesome happened today. There I was, finishing up with MGS4, when the doorbell rang. I answered it, and there was a package delivery man there, holding a package for me. I signed for it, and carried it inside. I was confused as to what it was, at first I though my Blu-Rays from Amazon had finally arrived, but it was too heavy. I opened it up, and this is what was inside:
How sweet is that? I remember entering the comp ages ago, so this was a very nice surprise. If anyone's interested, I'm looking to sell them both as a bundle. _________________

Ah, there's a good reason for that, all can be explained. I made the original post on the 22nd, but after I made it, I realised that I should take some pictures and add the bit about how I won a copy of the game (this was just after midnight though, so it was now the 23rd). The forums don't show that a post has been edited unless a reply to it has been posted. _________________

It's really awesome. I think I like it better than VIII. I never actually finished
VIII + I still want to play IX so that must mean I like it better...

Been playing Half Life 2 360, Well I must admit Im a little disappointed, after hearing such good thing about it, its become quite a bore. Im up to the part where some guy is helping me through some old wasteland type-town, its not too far into the game. The reason its boring is that I have no motivation to keep going. Please tell me it gets better. _________________

I got the shits because I had to solve math sums to train my character's Eidolon and I f****** hate maths. Utter loathing. I don't come home from work to simulate Brain Training in a Final Fantasy game.
Anyway if anyone hates maths as much as I do: http://nenem.jp/dsff4/eq10.cgi
