Now look at what this thread made me do!
Since many of my pieces are missing I did have to replace them with others.
And because many of them are missing I decided to go another way to build with Lego.
In March I downloaded the Lego Digital Designer but never really used it because I didn't have any instructions to build any models with. But yesterday that changed.
Downside to the program is that it lacks some colours and parts you might need to complete whatever you are building. On the plus side, if you like what you have made so much you can actually buy it.
That street sweeper in the 2nd picture costs AU$9.83. (Postage is like $30 though )
Oh another plus is that you don't have to clean any mess up. _________________

Wow, happy memories.
I remember we used Lego for one of my early uni projects, and it excited the hell out of me

Gizmo, since you run OS X, thought I'd recommend Bricksmith, an open source lego building program, with digital versions of just about every piece ever made.
EDIT: Just made another one of my first kits:

I used to always be into the underwater and space lego..
I always found houses and gardens and pirates to be boring, so i built spaceships and terrorised my sisters with them. I recently was given a big set of Technic stuff, including pneumatics, which was really awesome. I think Technic is good (boo haters) and allows you to build stuff that moves more easily. HOWEVER. Bionicles suck. You can't build anything other than what is shown on the box. _________________

With my Lego I never built anything that wasn't on the box. To do that is unreasonable! It's on the box so that's how it had to be built!
Technics on the other hand I would go nuts and build anything and everything I could think of

I was a MASSIVE lego fan. My brother and I used to spend hours every day sitting in our lounge room, with our box of lego nearby, just making 'stuff'. Normally it would be spaceships, and we would alawys prepare the 'goodies' and 'baddies' for a game, giving us (the goodies) the best 2 ships, but once we had finished making all the spaceships, we never felt like playing the actual game, just because we had more fun building the ships. I was never much into creating things as they were meant to. I rarely used the instruction booklet, but instead I used my imagination and came up with my own designs. My greatest ever construction was a largeish, 'state-of-the-art' spaces ship known as the Mystit Excel. If I can find it and make a few minor repairs, I'll post it up. I'm sure if you squint, you'll be able to tell that it's a spaceship
And when I say I 'was' a massive lego fan, after reading this thread the only thing I want to do know is go play with my lego _________________

Ta-da! A little improvisation was needed on parts and colour but I think it all worked out good.

I used to be a bit of a lego fan as a kid. I loved those tiny little sets you got in mini boxes, like pirates with little treasure chests and gold coins. It was exciting picking out a new set every time I was allowed a new toy...
