E3 is almost among us (less than a month), and, being the biggest gaming show of the year, it's fairly obvious to expect that the biggest games will be shown. What game are you hoping makes a big impact at E3? Or, what are you hoping for from E3 in general?
My big hope is Gran Turismo 4.
Yes, I hear the groan. GT3, despite its downfalls, was a brilliant game. Gameplay wise, the game was nigh-on perfect, if you remove the shocking AI and the fact that there was little sense of speed in any car under 650hp.
If GT4 can overcome these problems - which they almost certainly will, considering every reviewer has pointed them out over the past few years - GT4 will be THE racing experience.
It's already known that GT4 will have a damage model, which is essential. Whether the cars will automatically repair themselves after races, or whether you will have to fork out the cash to do it yourself remains to be seen. Perhaps you could go further here, where you insure your cars against damage, and they pay for them to get fixed - or write them off. Probably a bit too complex, though. Hopefully there is engine damage, too. For example, running the car on bad oil rips up the engine, etc.
However, my big hopes for the game are away from the track itself. I want more cars. Bring back the used car feature from the second game. Bring back older cars, too. And bring in Australian cars! ...Well, I know that isn't going to happen, but I can dream. And, I'll be fine if Polyphony include all the old American muscle cars.
Bring in a HEAP of new tracks, too. If they're based on real locations, even better.
Finally, I want a more advanced tuning system. How about brand name parts? More part options? If I wanna put a twin turbo on a mini, I should bloody well be able to! None of this restriction crap. Where the hell were superchargers in GT3? How about engine transplants? Putting the R34 Skyline's RB26DETT into something like an old school Mustang could be interesting. I want these options, dammit. However, stuff like this could potentially alienate buyers by being too complex. I can dream.
I'm also looking out for the new Mario Kart. Hopefully it does put some emphasis on a single player game, and eradicates the dodgy shortcuts (6 second laps on Wario stadium anyone?).

GT4 would be absolutely great if it had all the great options you said, but I think it would only appeal to the hardcore car lovers, not to the casual gamers who just want a new racing game with good graphics.
At E3 all I'm really hoping Nintendo announce a REAL Pokemon game for Gamecube. Not this crappy box system thing. Hopefully one with an online and offline mode. The offline could be a normal RPG game like the GB games where you train your Pokemon and collect badges and the online mode could be like Pokemon Stadium, you log in to the server and use you trained Pokemon from the offline game to battle in 1 on 1 or 2 on 2. _________________

Yeah, I know. But I can dream, can't I?
As for Pokemon... An online Pokemon RPG could be ABSOLUTELY huge. It would sell a whole lot of Cubes in Japan alone, that's for sure.

What they should but probably won't do is have an option at the start, where you pick either 'hardcore' or 'pushover.' _________________
I hope Nintendo pulls out something no-one is expecting, and maybe get 3rd parties interested in the damn console...
Otherwise, I think this year's E3 will be a quiet one for them. _________________

I'd even re-buy GT3 if it was re-released with a damage model. That essential, it is.
My biggest hope? I don't know, but I'd like to be surprised with a revolutionizing game announcement. There's plenty of titles I know will be on there that I greatly anticipate, though. _________________ holy shit

Surprises. Surprises are always good. Nintendo Focused on the big 3 last year and the only real thing I have to get excited about so far is Mario Kart: Double Dash. So i'm looking for Ninty to draw some big rabbits out of the bag as always. _________________ Large Cheese Pizza, Hold the Thrush.
