well i'm about to head out pretty soon to Westfield Chatswood to compete today, and if anyone wants to know

I've planned to go to the southland one awhile ago, although i was unaware of the date. The only thing apart from the Brawl comp that interests me though is Sonic Chronicles. Still, i might try some of the other stuff.

hey gamers
well the tour is over for sydney but i have good news!
on sundays tour, my brother (DARE) and i both got into the final!
thats right, a girl made it into the top 4, and man am i sooo happy!
Luca's is my saviour man, i couldnt have done it without him.

my first match was in that level that turns upside down, cant remember the name at the moment, and lucas got me 4 ko's (last one was thanks to the smash ball landing in front of me). other players were Meta Knight, samus and toon link.

quarters match was in the wario ware level. other characters were king dedede, ike and wolf. only just made it by 2 ko's in that match but it was a struggle cause i didnt bother going for those little missions in the level; like one i had was 'dont move'. the other guys stood still so i blasted em, i didnt want to miss an opportunity like that

semi's match was the battlefield level and i was vs a dk and a sonic. this match was a stock match, so yeh it took a little bit longer hehe getting the smash ball twice reallly helped me in that match.

finals time now and we had the final destination level. great level in my books hehe. 5 stock match again, and this time i was vs a wolf (my brother dare) pikachu, and ness.
i got knocked out pretty early on unfortunately but my bro did come 3rd after me. Pikachu character ended up winning for the day.

Dare's NSW Brawl Connection Tour (4th - 7th July 2008)
WRITE - UP

For all i used Ike in Timed Matches
& after my first day i instead decided to use Wolf in stock

CHATSWOOD
4th July (Friday)
Was able to pull-off entrant 14 today and didn't have anyone accompanying me, but there were other things to do at the tours, of which i will write about at the end

The 'gates' opened at 9 and the tourney kicked off at around 10:30, but by the end of the tourney it was revealed that there was 96 entrants all up.

* My first match was ok but could have been better, took place in the Jungle Japes level and i SD twice but somehow came out on top.
* The 2nd match was on Delfino and i was up against the winner of Saturday's event and only just scraped through...
All i can really recall was the last few seconds where a peach pulled off her final smash and put me & another opponent to sleep, while Bjay as Marth was in the air & didn't get affected he was recovering & tried to take out me as Ike, but what happens? A bombomb spawns between us taking us both out, -1'ing him & myself, but by that stage i was already up 1 KO to him & came out the victor
* then was onto the semi's, there i lost to a Link & Pit player with Ike on Battlefield, character was a bad choice imo as Ike is more suited to timed matches...
In this match the settings changed to 1.5 damage, battlefield stage, items on medium. While the final wasn't a 20 min as per the rules on the forms we had to fill out, but 5 stock, medium items, final destination...

All in all i was in the top 6 (no. of semifinalists) of 96 players there that day, so i was happy
In the final there was Pit, Link, Fox & Falco if i recall correctly, the participants playing as Fox & Falco were brothers, the Falco took out the trophy in the end.

Today we also had some folks from Cybershack down recording the final, had group shots, interviewed the finalists & winner etc etc, was quite surprising

If you made it to the finals (quarter's, semi's & the final itself) but got knocked out u still received a prize (of course the value of prizes was smaller if you got knocked out earlier though).
- Quarter's if knocked out u received a bag (Mario, DK or Peach themed) OR a Guitar Hero hat
- Semi's if knocked out u received a small Mario set figurine (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bullet Bill, Bombomb or Paragoomba) & a pokemon plushie
{BTW -- mario series 1 individual figurines retail for $7.50 at Game or EB if u want to know what ur missing out on}
- Final if knocked out u received a PAL Brawl & a Mario set of 2 figures in a tin (either Mario & Bombomb OR Luigi & Paragoomba)
{Again these boxed figurine's retail for $15 at GAME or EB}
While the grand finalist won a copy of Brawl & a 1 in 16 (rare) figurine set of 6 from the mario universe being Daisy, Luigi, Mario, Shy Guy, Lakitu & Koopa Troopa in a case
{these figures will probably be available in the same way that GAME & EB stock the figures later down the line, but these are from 'series 2' of Mario universe figures which aren't for sale anywhere to my knowledge}

Met some people from other forums & such today, with the only one i knew from before being Magikoopa (from Mario Kart tour 06 & others since then) but it was the days after where i was a bit more familiar with them (after knowing names instead of just relying on 'faces')

Prizes for me today were:
- Mario Bag
- Turtwig plushie
& - Yoshi figurine
the Bag was given to me from someone who unfortunately got knocked out in Quarterfinals & didn't want it, while the other 2 were from getting knocked out in the Semi (the remaining 2 players from my semi went through to the final)

Saturday 5th of July
Arrived even before Jamie (host/chronorox from other forums & here but now he works at Nintendo & can't join in on forum-y topics etc) & Jackie the other representative from Nintendo (i.e. actually works there); all other staff were hired through agents, so to them it was basically just another 'function' but they were there all 4 days & did a standout job

Today I received participant 3 in the line with my younger sis picking up participant 4, now i knew some more people (from aussie-nintendo: Bjay, ZNemisis & Chicken Salad), as well as Macka & my sis being there we thought as it was the first day of school holidays & a weekend there would be a large turnout... not so much, a bit over 100, but not maximum
The competition was however the hardest i'd say, with the NSW champ Simon (Kulla on Smashboards) clinching his matches till the final.

I recorded some matches & took photos today.
I did not however get further than the 1st round, being on Jungle Japes again (what are my chances of that??), my sis & Macka did proceed to the quarter's, while Chicken Salad, ZNemisis along with Bjay & Simon got into the final, with Bjay being the victor (really great guy, was glad to have met him). Character choice was Metaknight (Chicken Salad), Pikachu (ZNemisis), Wario (Bjay) & Metaknight (Simon)

my only prize today was a Peach Bag

- Stage where the tournament matches were held. All control options, but no custom control schemes & the only TV which allowed for wavebird GCN controller use, meaning if you wanted to 'practice' on the other TV's u were stuck with Classic controller as the closest thing


- one of TV's used for friendly Brawls (3 sit downs & a 4th sit down for wiimote only MKWii) + the dog leashes they had to keep wiimotes from being stolen

^ would have been much better if the people i hit went that little bit further & actually died

^ was lucky how she got 2 KO's within the first 10 seconds. But again, what are the chances that my 1st match yesterday, today & my sister's first match were all in the SAME LEVEL, especially under the match settings of 2 mins, random level & items on medium! Damn u Smash Bros.

^ annoyingly i couldn't get a good camera angle, and i had a head popping up in front of me a lot but you can still see the match. She did put up a good fight imo though

I was at the saturday chatswood tour, I was number 25 in the line, and had i checked this thread earlier and seen dare's pic i would have said hello, cause i saw the pic after and recognised you, My friend got into the semi's on that day, he was using captain falcon and used the old technique of get a cheap kill then runing away for the rest of the match. I was knocked out in the first round but i did end up with one of those mario green bags, which are the greatest green bags ever.

@ Macka: yeah the trivia was just plain random stuff 'off the top' of Jamie's noggin... but the 4 other playable characters in DK 64 are Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong DK & Diddy, shame on u for not knowing those

A) ..... i suggest going the 'easy route' of Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise & someone easily remembered: Mewtwo

Yeah, I find the Southland one is usually pretty tough, Scythian usually comes along as do some of the other guys. I'll be there, so I guess I'll see you there then. You should have some online matches if you want to see how good you are.

::Fountain Gate Day 2::

Man Fountain Gate is so far away from Broadmeadows, but I wasn't going to miss a Nintendo Event, especially when I took the day off for it.
I would have really liked to have gone to Day 1, especially since Dekar (TEC) won, it would have been good to see it and Cheer him on.

So I wake up late thanks to my mum thinking it was too harsh to wake me up even though I asked her too...
When I got there, there was only a short line since everyone was pretty much in already.
I got Number 89.
It was a little different then the last tours, instead of a lanyard with just a Logo/Design on there, this time the nice Girl on the front Desk took a Polaroid pic of every contestant.
I took a Standard one, no funny pose. =P

I decided to watch some matches before I jumped in for my round, I got to watch some great matches.
There were a few familiar faces in the crowd, Cats (Winner of one of the pokemon tours), Little Willy from Aussie-Nintendo, Josh and Harry (2 young kids who are almost every tour), Will, Kaze, Macus (Pokemon Card Game Pro) and his friends, Westy and Cass, and heaps more.
I also got to meet some new people like Unlucky, His Brother who did very well on the day, Also Shaz who I met once at the SSBB Rambo event, who is a legend, and a few more.

After waiting a while I decided I'll go for it, unlike other tours that reply on peoples numbers to choose who plays next, instead it was anyone who still hadn't played their first round just put their hand up and Jamie would pick the next four.
I liked this method better since there was no chance of the MC calling out a Number of someone who wasn't there.
Nothing worse then having to hear.. "69?... 69?... Is 69 here?... Anyone 69?.."

So I put my hand up and I get called up to the stage, I was in one of the last competitors, so there was only 3 people in our game.
Me (Fox), A Zelda and a Metaknight.
And since the map was on Random, guess what great map we got?... 75 Meters... Hooray! X_;
Didn't matter anyway since I really didn't practice enough cause I'm getting ready for Halo3 in World Cyber Games.
I would have like to have practiced more, but its too late now, I guess I'll get into more after WCG.

So we start the match and Zelda keeps her distance and just uses her Fireball thing (No idea what the name is) against me and the Metaknight.
Most of us were getting hit with the random objects in the stage, well mostly me.. =P
The matches are only 2 minutes long, items on, random map, I was at about -1, Zelda was on +1 and Meta was on 0.
Zelda gets another +1 and so does Meta.
I manage to get the Smash Ball and I managed to shoot Zelda and she goes flying off, but the odd thing is Meta who was behind me got the kill.... which was weird..
And that pretty much ended it for me, and only left for me to do was a Barrel Roll.

And that ended my SSBB day, but I didn't leave I had to hang around and check out some of the other matches.

I wish I could have recorded all of the matches, because there were some Epic ones, and I can't remember every detail.
I match I could remember though was Josh (Snake who made the finals both of the first days) v Wayne (DeDeDe who was first in line the first 2 days and pretty much every tour).
It was a great match, Josh is a great snake and used his items well, Wayne got the slow down item but couldn't capitalize on it and the Smash Ball spawned near Snake.
Wayne did a great job of dodging Snakes FS for a while but Josh managed to trap him and take him out for the win.
Bad luck to Wayne, but you got to give credit to Josh who was doing all of this with a Wiimote.

It was Between Josh (Snake), Apollo (G&W from Aussie Nintendo), Unlucky's Brother ( ) and..
Most of you would already know that Apollo won, congrats to him, he did very well with G&W and made good use of the items.

It was a great match to watch, but there was one match that topped even that one off.
Will, Kaze, Jamie and Wayne all picked Captain Falcon on FD, then danced to the FD background music, Taunted then play a stock match with only FALCON PUNCH!

Another day another Dollar... or something.
This time I woke up on time and had some company on the way there, MoeJoe came with me today.


What a nice thing to arrive to on a Saturday Morning.

We got there and there was a short line and plenty of people already playing.
Me and MoeJoe Line up and get our Polaroid Lanyards taken.
I tried to pull off a "The Rock" eye brow, but the flash made one of my eyes blink and it turned out weird.

As soon as we got there you could straight away notice the regulars, Little Willy, Toadsili, His Bro Will, Cats, Shaz, Leon and His Brothers, Cass and Westy, The nintendotwins, AceAussie, Dark Moogle, Will, Kaze and heaps more.

This comps very fast which is awesome, barely gives you any time to rest, but keeps the EXCitment up and the crowd pumping.
Every time someone we knew went up to play we would get the cheer squad going.

It got crazy loud when people like Toad or His brother went up, or when CAO destroyed people with his wolf, Cats doing his thing, I missed out on Shaz's game which I'm sorry for.

And when you had MoeJoe go up and the chants got going.. MooooooJooooo... MooooooJooooo.
It was a great competitive atmosphere.

After most people got past their 1st rounds, with the EXCeption of Me, Dark Moogle and a few others.
Dark Moogle Didn't really have the game so he has an EXCuse, I did have it, but I didn't train hard enough... But! I lost in Style! and thats all that counts.

After round one we got a 15min break to get something to eat.
So a few of us got together and went to the foodcourt.
There was barely any seating, so we pulled 4 tables together and heaps of chairs to recreate the Last Supper.

When we got back round 2 was on its way, and we got the cheer squad going again.
During the rounds Jamie was asking questions based on the players being used and gave out prizes for the correct answers.

A few top Smashers dropped out at this point, people like Cats, Shaz dropped off around rounds 2 and 3.
Also MoeJoe went out Round 2 with a very close match.

In the Semis Brothers had to go up against each other, Leon being knocked out of the tourney by his own Brother, but they also took out the 2 time finalist Josh in that round as well.
I think Little willy was out in this round as well.
There was a round with 3 roberts in it.


SSJ4GOHAN, Leon, Josh and Little Willy.

In another round, there was 2 Matts and 2 Wills.
Matt (Toad), Matt (SSJ4GOHAN), Will (Toads Brother MarioFan) and Will (Dude that hangs out with Kaze)

It doesn't get more intense then this, take a look at that stare from Toad.

It was a great match to watch, very close between them, but only the final 2 would move on to the final, after an great Battle MarioFan wins it with 1 stock left and Toad with his ROB coming in second, the Brothers Toad and MarioFan went on to the final.

Another Semi was with CAO and a few others in it who I can't seem to remember...
But I know there was a very good snake who took out everyone when the chance rose, but he also stood back and enjoyed the show while the others battled it out.
Match ends with the Snake winning, With CAO's Wolf in close 2nd. Both move on to the Final.

Final Match: Toad, MarioFan, CAO, and Ahmet?...
5 Stock, Final Destination, items still on.

It was a great match and I'm glad I got it on Film.
MarioFan ends up winning in a very close Battle with his Brother Toad, it literally could have gone either way.
CAO went Wolf the whole day then decided to try out Peach for the final, he believes he would have done much better with Wolf, and so did I, but we would have never known unless he tried.
Like I said, glad I got it on tape, cause it was a good match.

Another Match on the day that I thought was a Highlight was one with one of the Nintendotwins (From Aussie-nintendo.com) in it.
It was one point in it and Nintendotwin was 1 point down, grabs the smash ball with Samus, a few Seconds left... BEAM CHARGES!!... At least 2 KO's about to happen! Time runs out just before they get KO'd!
Bad luck man, you did very well.

Again it was great to see everyone again, it was a great turnout today, Jamie doing another awesome and Professional Job.
The Nintendo girls and guys doing a great job all round, especially the cooking Guide DS game girl who easily had the toughest job was still smiling 6 hours later.

That goes especially for CAO, Leon, Cats, and Shaz. And Jei if he ends up going, I got to talk to him a little today, seems like a cool guy.
