Muhahah. I picked it up yesterday with some friends, and ended up playing on/off 'till about 5AM. What sad, sad people we are. Unlocked all the stages and characters already, thanks to SSE. XD
Took us a little while to settle into Brawl, we're too used to Melee. I still can't handle Link or Peach properly, but hey, Stage Builder more than makes up for that.
My FC is 0989-3166-4993. Though I don't think I'm on top of Brawl completely, I'll still play a round if anyone wants too.
^Peveus: -Dissidia- seems to be headed in a very Brawl-y direction. (See: Ever-changing release dates. XD) That'll probably end up with loads of FMVs too.

Big Pete's General Thoughts:
Well I've owned Brawl for a over 24 hours and while I havn't been able to dedicate too many hours I've found the game to be a fairly big dissapointment.
Maybe it's because I've only played through classic mode but even then I've found the core gameplay average. Hit Detection seems off to me and some of the items generally add nothing or just detract from the experience.
I've only found one good new character in the Pokemon Trainer, the other seem off to me. Mind you I havn't unlocked Sonic nor Snake yet but the other new characters I've played with have been nothing short of dissapointing. _________________

The European version of Smash Bros. Brawl is finally out! To everyone in Europe: I'm sorry for having you wait this long.
You can choose between five languages. Have fun!
And, to commemorate the release of the European version of the game, "Snapshots Galore" is back for the third time!
I hope you enjoy it. The Japanese version of "Snapshots Galore" is...here!
Snapshots |
In other news, I got all characters. Time to really play!
Online, when it is smooth, is good. Had a great stretch of virtually lag-free matches today. Spectator mode is a nice passive activity. I find it strange that one guy just stays still the whole match and nobody even bothers to attack him. Then that guy taunts at the ends. Whaa. _________________

Really? i found that Pit, Meta Knight and especially Ike are really good characters and pokemon trainer seemed a bit off to me. but i guess its just personal opinion.
I'm up for an online battle if anyone wants to play, my fc is in my sig _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

I've played the game most of the weekend. It's strange, the game has some sort of spell on me. I just kept playing it and want to see want I can unlock. I started the single player campaign and it's so much fun. I expected it to be rubbish!
The graphics, sound and presentation have been given so much attention.
Wow, loving it. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I tried online yesterday. Lag. Horrible, horrible laaaaaaaag. 2 min matches had to be lasting for 10 at the most.
Hopefully this'll clear up eventually. Ah well, Mario Kart's online still rocks.
Also: Lucas, Lucario, Sonic and Toon Link rock my proverbial socks.

You keep playing in the lag matches? I drop out straight away. Then I try again and if it the next match is lagless, I continue to play with them for many matches.
Of course, one time, it was just three of us at one time continually playing virtually lag-free, then a fourth man came in bringing in the lag monster. So if you always have lag online, you may be the problem.
There is something satifying playing 4 men online lag-free, it is like we defeated Smash Bros' broken online. _________________

Nah, I was playing other online matches fine, it was just the two 4-player ones I attempted. I only played the first one all the way through, kinda realised it wasn't gonna get any better eventually.

I noticed that too, with batle of just three or two the batle were virtually lag free, but as soon as a fourth came..... LAG!
also, is it just me or for some reason i'm player 1 all the time? _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

First you have to beat the SSE, then go into the forest level and go through the first door you see. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

SO. I just tripped over my GCN controller cables, pulling the Wii from the table it sits on, which ripped the Brawl disk out. Scratched it up real nice. Awesome. ):
Everything works except the title screen, so I just needa skip the opening movie. Thankfully, EB have that wonderful scratch protection thing. When you're as clumsy as I am, It's worth the extra $5. >_>

^ Scratch protection?
Are you talking about insurance (replacement) or that gooey stuff
that you rub on the disc - cuz that stuff does not work in my experience. _________________

Don't I feel proud... I just took out 15 men in Cruel Brawl. I was going to save the replay, but I quickly pressed the wrong button... oh well... I'll try for 20! _________________

Nah, replacement. I've tried a disk repair thing once, and it failed miserably too. I think they're more meant for general wear and tear, not horrible disfiguring scars. XD
Anyone else think Home-Run Contest is awesome co-op? Trapping the sandbag with a flurry of punches from Shiek/Kirby, and having the other character slamming it repetitively with the Home-Run bat seems to work well.

The 100 man brawl was brutal. The old DK under the platform trick doesn't work no more. Plus I noticed the AI increases every 25 opponents. The last 25 are a real pain in the arse. But I beat them eventually, with trusty Peach of all characters. _________________
