May aswell join in on the picture fun. |
I just started playing Earthbound... such a fun, quirky little game. Wish I'd had the chance to play it in my early SNES days.

R-Type has to be my all time favourite. I'm hoping that it would eventually make it onto the Xbox Live Arcade some day. Those big end of stages bosses were totally awesome.
notable mention also goes to:
Ridge Racer
Elite (C64) [still can't believe so much could be fit into 32k of RAM!]

I always say OoT is my favourite game but Im starting to think that Skate is taking over. I have been playing it almost every day since launch and Im still not even close to getting bored with it. It almost feels like the game was made just for me. Gears of War is also high up my list (the multiplayer side of the game) I still get a big rush whenever I win a 1v1 shootout. Some of my best gaming memories come from that, with the help of a handful of awesome Palgn members (Nis, Jimmy, Froz and Dane) <3 _________________

Ya know I loved the shit out of Ocarina of Time when it came out, first game I 100%ed, beat it more times then I can count. But I was playing it recently, and I really don't think its held up that well.
I play it now and there is way too much block pushing and backtracking to do the puzzels. The really cool stuff like reflecting stuff with the mirror shield is used in one puzzel and then it's never used again, there is alot of "You don't know the layout of the room infront of you in advanced so you're going to die" bits.
(I'm looking at you shadow temple)
I think the latter enteries (Wind Waker and Twilight Princess) are a lot better to be honest. _________________

Xenogears and Final Fantasy Tactics, both from ps1. Engaging story and great character development. Unfortunately the sequels for both games are somewhat disappointing(Xenosaga and FFT:A).

Well I always see these topics and I tend to steer clear as it is really hard to distill it down in to just ONE game, but I think I will post a "short list" of a few of my favourite games just so you get the general idea of what I like I guess.
The list (in no particular order):
Shadow of the Colossus
Beyond Good and Evil
ICO
Half Life series
Psychonauts
Looking over that list I think that what really makes a game for me is the story and the art direction which draws you into that story, I'm not really a "Wow I just shot a guy and look at all the bloods its teh bestest grafix eva!" kinda guy. The games I most enjoy are the ones that entertain me with a coherent story, something that really touches me.

I was actually contemplating putting the silent hill series in my list but I haven't played them all so I thought I would save judgement until I'm done. And also looking at the list I realised that I missed a few other games as well, see this is why I usually steer clear of these threads because I just can't make a decisive choice

Conkers Bad Fur Day on N64 for the massive amount of fun I've had with multiplayer. Next Call of Duty 4 AND GTAIV for also having lots of fun with their multiplayer and fun single player _________________

It has to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Some other notable mentions are:
Final Fantasy VII
Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age
Metroid Prime
Goldeneye 007
Pokemon Gold/Silver
Super Metroid
God of War
Metal Gear Solid
And as always, I probably missed some _________________

I think MGS4 is high up there on the list of my favourite games. Mario Kart and Brawl are good too. I also like Halo 3.

Alundra (PS1) - This game was based on Zelda style gameplay, but pretty much excelled in all regards. Great music, a story that pissed all over bland Zelda storylines, challenging bosses.
I supposed second would be the great SNES rpg trilogy (Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6).

Mine is quite easily Wild Arms on the PS1. This was the first RPG I ever played and it was also the second playstation game I ever played. My nan saw it in a random bargain bin and decided to give it to me on my birthday when I had just received a Playstation on the same day for Christmas (yes for me my birthday and christmas are the same day). The western styled music in this game is beautiful and I fell in love with it and just the general wild west feel of the game. I can't wait until the PSP remake comes out here in Australia. I'll be preordering it as soon as the release date is confirmed. _________________
