Well today will be the first time I've hosted a contest, so let's all hope it works out smoothly. Firstly I'll be listing some rules which you'll need to follow in order to be eligible for the prize. (might add some more, but hopefully i get them all in one shot)
1. No Porn/Hentai
2. Original Work
3. Drawn (Traditional/Digital)
4. 1 entry per person
Secondly, I've decided to try and involve other forums to get things moving more. This same message will be posted on all boards, The boards that are being involved are Mangaschool DA-SAI PALGN
All entries from all forums will be uploaded to each board so that everyone can see all entries that are submitted (saves having to travel to each board to see the competition but also see what the competition is (makes sense?))
To submit an Entry please send them to ittekimasu[at]gmail.com
With the subject being "Contest Entry" with what forum your representing and also your name(and/or)forum name. This will just help to upload all pictures to the first post.
The prizes will be:
1st place: "The Ready to Draw Kit" Which includes: 1 How to Draw Manga Book(a list will be sent to the winner to choose from), 1 Tachikawa manga inking pen, 20 page IC brand sketchbook, Carry Case.
if there are enough entries, it'll also include a 2nd and 3rd place prizes which consist of
2nd place: 1 How to Draw Manga Book(a list will be sent to the winner to choose from), 1 Tachikawa manga inking pen
3rd place: 1 Tachikawa manga inking pen
Now for the theme of this contest:
1 - 3 page Manga/Comic/Storyboard. Whether you choose to do a 4 panel manga, or a 3 page short story it'll need to be a complete experience (or whatever term you use)
The voting will either be a voting system, choosen by me or if possible, I'll select a panel of judges (1 or 2 from each forum to help pick out the winners)
If I've left anything out or you have any questions, be sure to send me a note, or reply in this thread.
oh btw it's due on the 4th of july if the heading didn't give it away.

1 question. those the whole story necessarily have to end at 3 pages? or could it be something like, the end of a chapter in a book (i don't know if i explained myself well, but something like, it's not finished, the story is somewhat ongoing??)
not sure if i'll end up doing a story like that...... but it's good to know, coz 3 pages is quite short for what i had in mind

yeah I've had problems fitting my entire thing into only three pages, but I think thats mainly cause my original plan innovled two splash pages

urgh...planning stage is always easy.
actually doing the thing might require some extra effort from me...
due date is a while away, which means i'm gonna leave it til later. and later. and hopefully it'll get done ^^".

As long as the 3 pages show closure really, it'll really depend how you'll draw it out.

Man I freaked out last night thinking this was due june 4th and that I'd have to get my second two pages finished up quickly.
I also keep changing my idea and wanting to start again from scratch, I'm probbably gunna end up with like three seperate things entirley.

Ah well good thing you have plenty of time, it can be difficult trying to figure out which story to write up, but also i'm hoping that with the restricted pages people won't feel overwhelmed.

so it cant be like a wallpaper or something right? Does it have to be a story? Also, can i use photoshop filters to blur and blend lines?

i'm guessing its a manga/comic 1-3 page story rather than a single artwork.
and i'm also guessing it doesn't have to be black-and-white manga-like, prolly could colour it too =).
contest gives me a good idea ittek, start up a monthly art comp or something ey? =D

MM is right, can be coloured and you can use filters/effects to alter the look of your story.
And it needs to be a story 1 to 3 pages.
I don't think i could afford to do this monthly  lol

when you say illustrated, i can use the kind of painting style right? like this
i haven't completely decided, but i may use a mix of two styles
