I've heard from the folks at E2 that the date is 24th which is Thursday, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to grab my pre-order SE early of them. I can't wait.

Im going to be looking everywhere on thursday for a copy. i reckon ill find one . just play dumb at kmart or somthing or get my grandma to go in lol. ill just play a standard edition till i can get my special edition then sell the standard here.

I would think that it won't break, for a game as high profile as this I'd imagine the boxes containing the game will have their own security lasers and very large muscular men in suits standing either side.

I can't imagine being able to break street date at work. But personally be able to play the game all day friday?
Definately. The game will have to come in thursday, obviously public holiday friday and saturday nobody receives stock.

I'm predicting we'll get the game at work on Thursday. As people have already said, no deliveries on ANZAC Day or the weekend and Monday would be cuting it to fine for a game that is obviously in huge demand. I'm also fairly confident that the release date WILL NOT be broken. Now I just need to convince the boss to let me take a copy home early to "review" it.

Why does everyone keep mentioning the Public holiday. I know BigW will be open from 1pm onwards, & I'm sure Target/Kmart will do the same. It's not as if the shops will be closed.

I'm silently praying for a broken street date so that I can play it on the public holiday/weekend but honestly I don't think it will happen. Some places are having midnight launches and the last game to do that (Halo 3 by memory) didn't have its date broken (again, by memory). It would be damn nice but something tells me we'll be waiting until Tuesday.
And even if the date is broken somewhere, that's no guarantee that it will happen right across the country.
On another note, just another reminder in case people do get it this week or whatever; Please post any spoilers in another separate thread. Keep this topic for the normal discussion of the game.
Speaking of spoilers, Kotaku had an article regarding a certain radio host and apparently whatever he said spoils a fair bit. I actually avoided it surprisingly so who knows, maybe I can start avoiding GTA stuff and have a successful first time media blackout? *shrugs*

^ EB Melbourne Central are a joke. I'll be keeping in contact with my mate that works at Game to see if I'll be able to get my pre-ordered copy a bit before the release date. Not getting my hopes up though as i highly doubt it.

Erm, quick question to fellow importers - did anyone give HMV a try for the UK version of the special edition? I emailed them asking for confirmation that they would send it all out here, and haven't heard back yet - and I just got an email from GAME saying they were about to start packing orders and as a result my credit card could be charges as early as today/tomorrow. They never emailed me to say the package was too heavy to send, and it would seem my order is still valid.
So yeah, any ideas which place to cancel my order from? I only have enough money in my account for one of them.

Preorderred at EB Games Weribee, they said i'd get a copy on release no problems if i Preorderred, hopfully they're doing a midnight launch but I really doubt it.
If my play-asia order gets sent, i'll probably just ebay it, i'm sure i'll make my money back on $80
