Maybe its that UT3 guy (Pictured.. i haven't played or know anything about UT3) is related to Marcus Phoenix. Like long lost brothers or something.

Sorry but I think the issue here is more that UT3 stole its character style from Gears, and its more what his wearing that makes them looks similar, not so much his physical features.

I think you'll find UT2K4 was more or less rocking that character style two years before Gears, so if anything it's the other way around. And don't forget they're both developed by Epic, so I don't think there's gonna be any (more) lawsuits for them over the matter. 
This has certainly made me curious though, and weirdly interested in GoW2 which I previously couldn't care less about... viral advertising ftw.

No, PS3 fanboys will profess their hatred for Gears too. Even though deep down, they know it's a really great game. Gears was my 2nd favourite game of 2007, after Bioshock. And easily the best co-op experience I've ever had - better than 4 player Halo 3, even.

i loved gears being a PS3 fanboy, after spending hours with it at a mates place, i went out and bought the collectors edition about 6 months before i even owned a 360
