What makes you think that our PSN store would *ever* get GTA content that wouldn't appear on the US PSN store? _________________

that sort of seemed like they were saying that NZ doesnt have a R18 rating so it just seems like they didnt realise that its only australia. _________________

I know you're being facetious but for example, you can't download Oblvion: Shivering Isles of the US store and make it work with the OZ version. So I'm doubting I will be able to play Australian Store content on the US version of GTAIV.

What the hell kind of link is that? Is that an article, or a forum post or what?
If this is true, there's going to be a whole lot more grumpy gamers out there. Makes me all the more curious as to what's been cut though. _________________

Ok, but my point was that anything released on our store would also be on their store - so if you had the US version you could just download the US downloadables.
Or did I misunderstand your post from the get-go? _________________

That page is a fake. It was written by a guy on OCAU. Here's the link (with his admission of being a smartarse at the bottom of the page).

NZ has an R18+ rating, so they will get the full game. Imagine their outrage if they got a borked version of the game just because they're geographically close to Australia! _________________

But I can't download US stuff unless I have a US credit card.

Just go to your local Westpac Bank and purchase a Westpac Mastercard Gift Card. It isn't linked to an address of any kind, so can be used on US accounts to purchase and download off of the US store. _________________

Ah! But you can!
A little service called Entropay will do you right - of course you have to pay a small surcharge to load into your account. But still, it works and it works a charm
Edit: Or if you have the free time and inclination, do as the right honorable Mr. Mitchell suggested. Same deal, just less online. _________________

Do you have any idea if this works on the American iTunes store? If so, I'm very much in your debt. _________________

I've just found the UK version on ebay for 45 pounds including postage which equates to around $100AUS.
I'm the sort of person who will pay an extra 15 bucks(Over the PlayAsia one) if it makes it a safe purchase...

Honestly I'm not sure, but seeing as the card can be used at any store that accepts Mastercard, you won't really be losing any money in giving it a try. If it doesn't work, you can just spend the card elsewhere! _________________

Just got the dreaded email from gpstore.co.nz -
| Quote: |
Hi Phillip,
We have been informed today that New Zealand will be receiving the same version of Grand Theft Auto IV as Australia.
As you have placed your order after Rockstar announced that the Australian version was edited, we are assuming that you will no longer require the game to be shipped from us, as we can't supply you with an uncut version.
The last thing we want to do is supply you with a product that does not meet your needs and we've therefore taken the liberty of removing your GTA4 order from our web site.
We certainly hope we can be more helpful to you in the future!
Kind Regards,
Katey

Ditto... *facepalm*
Nice of them to just cancel the order instead of simply giving us the option. I'd rather keep my order for now until I can find a UK spec. ed to order or decide that it's impossible and just keep go with the cut version.

Bah. |
Same here - I now have NO limited edition GTA IV pre-ordered. And given that all the pre-orders are out (in Australia anyway), thanks to GPstore, I'll now have to get a standard edition.
Pretty damn weak. _________________

I think New Zealand will suddenly flog us at every sport ever invented for about 10 years over this, thanks rockstar.
And besides that, this, keeping the edits from us thing is pretty low _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ would be the closest chance of getting a 'real UK edition that you'd have, then. _________________

It's disgusting to think that they can get away saying that the version Australia will get will be edited and won't affect gameplay but not tell us what has been cut, if only they were to tell us all of this might have been avoided, thou like any gamer i'm not taking the chance of believing them when i can simply import from the US. _________________

What the hell do you want them to say? "Yeah, we cut this scene, and it was totally violent and there were naked women having sex everywhere. Then this awesome gunfight happens, and girls are fucking everywhere.
But you don't get to have it."
Saying what was cut is retarded, because you are essentially dangling a carrot in front of the rabbit-y faces of Australian gamers. Rockstar can put up with the forum members bitching, but the millions of consumers who buy the game will have no idea.
So what do you want them to do? Have a Rockstar guy stand there in-store, and every time someone goes up to the counter, stop them and say: "Hey man, before you give us money, we just want to tell you about stuff that we gave to everyone else, but not to you." That's essentially what you are asking them to do by giving a straight-forward answer. Well, they would prefer the money of ignorant consumers over satisfying you (especially since you will buy the game anyway, from Australia or otherwise).
When one forum knows, everyone knows. _________________ phil@australiangamer.com
