I wonder regarding a faulty PS3 such as, will not turn on, or beeps three times then turns off...
Can this be fixed by replacing its hard drive with a new one?
Thanks

What do you mean it won't turn on? The power button does nothing, or no image is displayed on the screen?
And three beeps before shutdown usually means the PS3 had to shut down an operation you were supposed to quit yourself. _________________

The only common issue im aware of with PS3s is corrupt hard drives. In this situation Sony usually send out a new PS3.

No, it's not happening to my PS3... it's just that "in situations" like this, can I fix it by simply replacing the harddrive...?
Or is it the motherboard?

Why would you want to know something that you don't have to worry about?

Just in case it happens to my PS3 with people seemingly have a problem with theirs out of a blue...
I've heard some slight noise lately when it loads the games... usually not happened... so maybe I'm a little paranoid lol
I just don't want to sell my PS3 when I can fix it myself

So my question is, if these things happen, should I replace:
- the motherboard
- the hard drive... or
- the power supply
to fix this?
I'm guessing it's motherboard... or is it power supply?

Dude... stress less. Nobody can tell you what will or will not go wrong with your PS3 or how to fix it.
PS3 problems are very very rare. And the system is supposed to make noises. It has a laser track which clicks, a disc drive that whirs and fans that also whir... >_> _________________

My PS3 is at Sony now getting fixed.
For some reason games wouldnt load, the PS3 didnt even pick up if a game cd was inserted.
They said it takes 10-12 days to get back a new one ( that was a week & a half ago ), so ill have it back for sure for GTA4.

I can understand why he is stressed, like $700+ is alot of money to most people. When I first got the $1k PS3 I was paranoid for about 2 months.
However Icebox I can tell you that the PS3 is a very reliable machine,A+ there. It has its strange faults now and there like the system will randomly freeze or your internet will drop out (Mostly on Resistance), but when it comes to fatal errors-0.

I have the $1000 model as well and the only problem I have had is that if I turn the PS3 on before my TV, the HDMI doesn't hand shake and thus nothing comes up on the screen. Simply switching the channel and then back quickly fixes it. I think its probably my TV rather than the PS3 anyway. _________________

Also I had a problem with HDMI, but simply was the TV's fault. Since testing it at two other places seemed to work fine. _________________

My first PS3 had a blue ray drive issue. I sent it to SONY after calling customer service. Waited 2.5 weeks and a new one came back. Keep your controllers and cords, its a present for being inconvenienced!
