My phone exchange is broadband enabled, and I'm within the radius where I should be able to get broadband.
I tried to upgrade to ADSL last week, but then I got a message from Supernerd saying that I have incompatable infrastructure. Telstra was supposed to upgrade my infrastructure last year.
I hates the Telstras.

Telstra is a really mixed bag.
On one hand, XBL doesnt count towards downloads, and there are heaps of GameArena servers for PC games.
On the other hand, they count uploads towards the limits.. _________________

I don't personally own a 360, but from many people (inc nik) ive heard that it doesnt.
I think it may only be XBL, not XBLA. _________________

Gameplay doesn't count on the Liberty plans at least, not 100% sure about other downloads. And yes they can tell the difference between a download and a game

Luke is right, Bigpond does count Xbox Live, used my Cousins Xbox 360 on my internet, downloaded a demo, and it got counted to my quota! _________________ Became a DAD on the 29/10/09 @ 10:47am, to a 7lbs 71/2oz baby girl, named Gianne Lee Joseph-Webster.

Yeah, but Telstra are the ones that are charged with maintaining and upgrading the phone lines, which they constandly complain about and do their damndest to ignore what they are supposed to do.
If they can't do it themselves, they should pay someone else to do it.

I've heard baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad stories about dodo.
But as for Telstra, just ring them up and yell at them for a while. My friend does it pretty much every time the most small thing breaks in his phone. He complained about an issue with supposedly free downloads that cost him stuff, and they ended up waiving his entire $200 phone bill or something.
And I thought of another funny telstra - phone - buddy situation but then forgot it. My bad. _________________

Hence why I'm not over my limit. Now I have to remind myself next month to turn off uploading when I go to download all my torrents.

same problem here.
wanted to get ADSL2+
and we checked online AND in store PERSONALLY
that our subrub was ADSL 2+ ready..which it WAS
yet when we asked them to set it up..turns out we also have incompatible infrastructure.
when we called up asking wth was wrong they were like...we'll not much we can do. Try another ISP.
... thats telstra for you.
They then proceeded to give us "viable alternitives"
DIALUP----yeh right -_- might as well go back to the dark ages right lads?
Satellite --- something like $100 for 250mb at the time we were tryin to get ADSL
Cable --- $60 for 12 gig if it was bundled with home phone.
Needless to say. We got cable. _________________

I actually live about 15k out of town, but we are within the distance of the exchange where we should be able to get broadband. So, can't really get cable out here.
So, stuck with super-slow dial-up where download is about 2.4kb/s and it takes about 10-20 minutes to download 1meg _________________

Just because you're within x km of the exchange doesn't mean you can actually get ADSL, you might get stupid wiring set-ups that makes attenuation on your line too high for ADSL to function at faster than dial-up speeds. So even though the exchange may have ADSL 2/+ enabled you might not even be able to get it due to decisions made before the internet was dreamed of

Cool site, I'm glad i clicked on. Look at my plan: Freestyle 256. I think Im getting ripped off. My contract ends in 3 weeks so I'm thinking of moving to the internode plan: HOME-1500-Power15
Safe move? Anyone on internode, is it reliable? good value? is there better value with reliability out there? _________________

Lol....I have Telstra broadband (cable) and trust me...every single byte is monitored and that includes Xbox live! We pay around $59.95 a month and we get a 10 gig limit and even uploads are counted towards this.
It's a bit of a rip-off but there isn't many other options in my area other than going ADSL and yea I don't think so....not when I got cable. Atleast they hardly even have any outages....we've had it for around 2 years now and it went down once for like 2 hours so it wasn't a biggie. Speeds are awesome aswell.
Personally I don't mind it but if the limit was like 20 gig it would be so so awesome. _________________

Can confirm the dodos are far worse. Try canceling and you'll get a call from India every week asking you to rejoin. Though that can be quite a laugh sometimes, the last guy who called said his name was 'Oliver' _________________ How come I'm always the bear!?

im on the 59.95 /month plan as well..
but its not 10gig.
the allowance is 12 gig.
they changed it like..somewhere early last year.
and they don't have a 20gig plan they have a 25gig..
it cost around $80 last time i checked
but @ that price u can get adsl 2 with some rediculous amount of usage from a number of other ISP _________________

I've been with internode for I a couple of years now. I rarely (if ever) have any trouble with them and if I do, it generally isn't them that caused the problem. Downtime is very low. I'd recommend them wholeheartedly _________________

Dude, log onto your Telstra account and change your plan to the 12gb, its free, it's just Telstra is dodgy and doesn't change it for you! _________________

Steam downloads don't count toward your limit when you're with Bigpond. I downloaded both The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, and the 7GB of data showed up as yellow (unmetered) usage the next day. _________________
