Why is that? To save the publisher money? The game's being edited, but the gameplay won't be being touched. It'll still be the same game, just less gore. That's hardly a call for a new rating. When a game comes out where the gameplay is hindered by not having an R rating, then I'll jump on the bandwagon. _________________

Well I suspect they only really toned down the gore relating to human interactions, so basically it's the same game but now it fits into an MA15+ now this game is going to be played by an audience where its original intention didn't fit, because this game wasn't intended to be played by minors, or children.
Obviously if we had the R18+ rating not only would the game come to australian shores untouched, it would also prevent minors from purchasing and playing the games. No matter how mature they think the game might be, it prevents the adult audiences to enjoy adult material due to this. _________________

I think it's really difficult to say that Dark Sector will remain the same game with an edit. Having played through the 'uncensored' version Dark Sector really is a violent, disturbing and powerful title. Part of my enjoyment with the game came from the fact that I was so immersed and possibly disturbed. Now, i'm not sure how much content will be edited, but by toning down the content Dark Sector won't be as immersive, the kills won't be as gripping and the game just won't feel as powerful, which I would say does actually affect the gameplay.

I heard they were gonna take away the background music cuz it doesn't really effect gameplay so it's no big deal.
Same game just less sound...
Why not pimp everything, people only jump on bandwagons when it affects them anyways. _________________

Well technically those games never had their gameplay hindered given they weren't edited and rereleased after being refused classification. _________________

^That's what I was getting at. The gameplay would have been so affected that they couldn't even release a diluted version here. I think that's the best example of gameplay being hindered. _________________

bloody arrogance!
i hope R18 comes in time so you older gamers can enjoy the title.
I honestly dont see why R18 shouldnt be introduced.
political arrogance i say, i would've thought that they follow in the footsteps of the UK and the US.
No offence australians, but this country is around 10 to 20 years behind British and American politics and laws. _________________

Both those games (well, Marc Echo's for sure, Blitz is a maybe) would still get banned if we had a R18+ rating.

Let me get this straight, Gears of War somehow passed all the tests from the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification. Ninja Gaiden II did the same. But, Dark Sector didn't. I just don't get it. What is this; comparing apples and oranges? That does not make sense.
See, this is Chewbacca. _________________
