I still do. $10 HD-DVD's FTW.
I will continue to keep my HD-DVD player hooked up in my entertainment area. _________________

Well finally there's a victor in this ongoing battle of the new format wars. And personally seeing as though both formats I believe were using a blue laser, why settle for an inferior format like HDDVD when you get more freedom in the means of storage (especially in today's world where storage hungry programs are the programs of today) with Sony's BluRay format.
Not sure how this is goin to affect the XBox 360 but I think it will be limiting the machines potential. That and the recent issue with the ring of death ain't all that good for the console and fundamentally it's reputation.
I don't own a 360 myself, I have a PS3 and am glad to hear that BluRay is the format of choice. But even before I purchased a PS3 I had this notion of BluRay winning the format war. It's something totally new and i think a new shiny thing seems to attract the masses, instead of just a polished old gem. lol

nah mate. yeah my approach is biased, but I already mentioned that I had a feeling straight from the start that BluRay would be the victor. I just really didn't believe it would prosper. Hey but as much my view may be biased, your responses to me just being a Sony employee means that you guys must be biased as well. Hey I'm not here to argue but just to state that there was bound to be a victor and I'm glad it was BluRay. As much as there have been faults with both formats, i just feel that BluRay has better capabilities.
At least this forum is friendlier in a sense with their retorts, instead of other forums where there's just ppl swearing their heads off.
Let's here what others think of this topic anyhow. Fans of HD-DVD what do you guys think of the fall of the format?
EDIT- Sorry about that theory. Will keep in mind for next time.

I am happy the format war has ended, and I honestly couldn't care less that blue-ray won. I wouldn't have cared if HD-DVD had won either, makes no difference to me. Now consumers can buy something with the knowledge that it wont be obsolete anytime soon. Not that I will get a blue ray player anyway.. waste of time right now, but maybe in a few years it would be worth it.

Did the HD-DVD player add-on have games that made use of it? Or is it just for movies? _________________

Don't worry, the HD DVD drive for the Xbox 360 was marked down to $47.99 today at JB Hi-Fi. _________________

If MS decide to release a blu ray drive for the 360 I hope they make it able to play HD DVD as well, it'll definitely would save current users having to swap drives (if they decide to purchase one) if its needed and be able to build atop of their HD DVD library.
If i was certain that HD DVD would become the preferred method for PC use i'll probably would purchase a HD DVD drive and take advantage of the HD DVD firesale. _________________

I couldn't be happier. www.ezydvd.com.au sale for HD-DVD is awesome. I picked up 11 movies (that I have been eyeing off for ages) for $100 shipped. Now I can't care what format it's own, but for a HD movie that's good going. Very happy. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Unlikely... wait, entirely impossible. BluRay is fundamental to the PS3, there is no way they will give Microsoft access to BluRay this generation (possibly for even longer). _________________ Economical Gamer - Video game bargains, competitions & freeware games

Not to sure whether Sony has the right to deny Microsoft their right to build a BD player for the 360 since they don't own the technology. (so i'm thinking) _________________

I had forgotten about some of the things MS said about BluRay. It might be possible, if MS say they have been talking with BluRay all along. I dont see how though. Isnt Sony primarily in charge? _________________ Economical Gamer - Video game bargains, competitions & freeware games
