Alrighty, I owned a Wii about a year ago and got rid of it due to in my opinion lack of games and Nintendo Australia's corrupt and horrible service.
However, Brawl is making me really want to play again, not to mention the new Super Mario Kart.
I have 4 questions -
1) If I buy an American Wii/NTSC Region 2 Will I be able to play with Aussies? Meaning My Wii and Games would be NTSC trying to play with PAL Gamers here in Australia.
2) Regarding Question 1, Would this cause any kind of latency/Lag problem since I assume all Wii traffic would fly to America then back to Australia?
3) Will my American Wii's warranty be covered in Australia?
4) Will Super Smash Bros Brawl attract chicks to me?

1) Apparently you can't because you set your system to U.S in the menu so it wont accept and Aus codes.
2) If it does work then it will only lag as much as your distance from the person.
3) Not sure about this one but I would say so.
4) If Dani and Charly are turned on by smash then yes.

Getting a US Wii allows you to get games a lot eariler but then you run the risk of being stuck playing US players online.
I doubt Nintendo Australia will have a bar of a NTSC model if it braks down.

What do you guys mean about not playing Aus vs US?
I have added American friends codes to my Aussie Wii. I've never tried to actually play against them, so have no idea what you're talking about.
Are you saying that you can add international friends to your Wii friends database but you can't actually play games with them?

In GH3 you can only play against people in your country so I think it applies to all other games as well. You can have other people on your list though and send messages still from overseas.

Apparently the Wii just connects to the nearest server to you, so it shouldn't have to travel to America then back again

Sami: Agreed. As for friend codes, maybe it's just Guitar Hero 3? I'm sure you can use friend codes from other countries, people must have done it.. Darn, I'm not sure.

I wouldn't pull out Brawl to introduce a girl to the Wii. Try Wii Sports, Wii Play or another casual title first. If they like, then you can say "the wii also has some more traditional types of games too" or something. That example makes it sound a little nerdy though, and depending on what you're looking for in a girl, they may not like a nerdyish b/f.
If you know for a fact they do like videogames however, then pull out your big gun... Brawl that is.

You should have split the topic up. Nintendo stuff here, girlfriend stuff where you originally posted. That said, this topic is hilarious.
1. You don't "get" a girlfriend. If you're always looking you will never find.
2. Work on improving yourself and girls will magically appear.
3. If you have to ask for help it's never gonna happen.

Don't ever go looking for a girlfriend. Otherwise you'll judge every girl you meet and expect to spend the rest of your life with them.

well, if you had brawl, i'd go over to your house and play it, but it'll only be for the game interest (yay for link!!!!!! XD oh.. and marth too...)
oh, and if you really want a girlfriend, you should get out more, reasonable number of gaming girls around ^^
but umm, yea, i have no idea how having a US wii will effect the gameplay.....
