OMFG REPOST
I was initially going for Killswitch Engage, and somewhat As I Lay Dying, Saosin, and Shadows Fall. But then Alexisonfire and City and Color were later revealed. My pants suddenly dropped at that moment in time.
Can't. Bloody. Wait.

I would just like to point out, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has been canceled, chances of me buying tickets now, also down a tiny tiny bit.
I know, I really want to go, but I also really don't want to spend $100 as my last (and first) live music experience (The Living End) was not that great, although the venue probably had a lot to do with it.
Its really hard for me to choose either way :S
It would however be fun to stalk Mitch and maybe see other PALGN members for a day, so yeah, those also add to it just as much as any above average band could < why does that poke out tongue face to me just look like a smiley face? _________________

harsh, but if all the tickets are the same you can probably swap those tix for sydney ones, if you ring them and they still have some left.
sadly, i've allready got my tickets and my imaginary girlfriend does too. _________________

KSE, Alexisonfire, Shadows Fall,
This is going to be awesome.
My various female friends will inevitably drag me around to a bunch of others, like mindless self indulgence, red jumpsuit, etc. _________________

Went to the Brisbane show yesterday.
I arrived in the city at around 12 hoping to meet up with the group...2 hours later and they finally arrived - apparantly a mix up at the train station but I remain a little critical but it subsides after we get to sit down and get something nice to eat, Hungry Jacks. Yeah Yeah I know maybe nice is pushing it but aye it was going to be better than what Soundwave had to offer thus I give myself a huge plus for the idea.
By the time we arrive to the Parklands, it's about 2:30 and the line is still fairly massive. So we line up and watch a protest go by until about 3pm where we're only 5 minutes or so near the front. The funny thing is...there was an Under 18's line. I felt a bit guilty and tried to lift my voice to make sure those around us knew what was happening and weren't going to feel as if they were going to get the short end of the stick. Everyone urged us to go and so we went.
We got in just in time to see Scary Kids Scaring Kids play however couldn't stay for too long as we had just met up with another group and they wanted a bite to eat. From what I could hear though, they sounded incredibly crisp so I recommend people to go see them. We then went to get food over towards Stage 3 which ended up taking an hour just for them to get a dagwood dog and two bottles of water, such a waste and such a stupid system. While we waited, I heard most of Sugarcults set, they're fairly average live so unless you're a fan of theirs, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. After the rest of the group had lunch we then headed off to the Main Stage to see the Plain White T's.
They were just as expected, meekly average and surrounded by a bunch of teeny girls. The joys of being surrounded by 16-17 year old girls aye? Next up was Thursday and boy wasn't that fun...After the lovely peaceful fair that was the PWT's, Thursdays mosh resembled something of a monster car derby. I know the golden rule about the mosh is...if you can't stand it then get out however sometimes what happens defies reason. To start the set there was still a bunch of girls about who were no more than about 15 just having a good time. I stood and then watched from the other side of the mosh a guy who was atleast 25 and pretty well built ram himself into a group of pre-teen girls and knock some of them over. Yeah big move there tough guy. Stuff like that is what detracts from these festivals IMO.
As the set came to a close Thursday then orcastrated this mosh move I had never seen. They got the crowd to split into two and leave a gap between them. As the song got going the two groups then ran at one another. I'm glad I got out as soon as I could as I was with a bunch of 16 year olds who were no more than 5 foot.
Next up was Cartel and boy these guys have really impressed me this past 48 hour. If you're a Pop/Rock fan (Cro I'm looking at you) you're sure to love them. Live they were great and up there as one of my favourite performers. The only thing that annoyed me once again were a few pin heads who thought it would be a great idea to try and crowd surf on a group of girls who were incredibly unaware of this guys presence. So he gets a guy to go on all fours as a launching pad of sorts and sets off, jumps on totally annihilates the group, walks off laughing and looking proud of himself. One of the girls literally had to be dragged away by her friend...it was real damper on the Cartel set.
Getting out of Cartel was a nightmare. When you have atleast a couple of hundred people trying to leave an area it's always going to cause trouble. The problem here was there was really no where to walk and you had to squeeze by one by one. So you basically had four lines of people trying to do this and some became really unruly and began pushing which never leads to anywhere pretty. After about ten minutes of being crushed together I finally escaped however was seperated from my group. I sms'd to see if they were fine and they were so I caught a bit of Saosin which was packed thus I went to see Incubus which was good fun.
We then all caught up again and had a rest break just before the Offspring which was without a doubt the highlight of the day. Before they were on our biggest concerns as a group were are they going to start playing there latest releases. This was answered as soon as they played Come Out And Play as well as there other classics. My highlight of the day and it was great seeing thousands of people getting into it.
And that was Soundwave, Mitch how did you enjoy it? _________________

I got there around 12 but waited in line for a good hour and a bit.
Main stage had a *** band so me and my friend scoped out the other stages before getting some drinks and meeting some other friends. The first band we actually watched was Alexisonfire, but I was right at the food stand well out of the action. We dawdled some more and got a glimpse of a few bands including Divine Heresy (how fucking ugly are they?!) Sugarcult (gay) and some other gay bands on the main stage / annex. We chilled a while having drinks and at the hippie stage.
The next band I actually watched was Saosin who are a guilty pleasure of mine, but the singer tried to sing. He just rips off Underoath in a singing sense and it was starting to shit me. So I walked off early to get a good spot at City and Colour who I really wanted to see. There was already a big crowd at the front a while before he started playing, so I just forced myself close. If anyone saw this big and tall guy up front of C&C, singing, that was me. It was damn amazing and I couldn't take my eyes off him. Although there was a girl next to me who was on the fucking phone saying 'omg omg omg'.
After that set it was either The Offspring (lol) or Killswitch Engage...easiest choice of my life. I rushed to the KSE stage but it was already packed with thousands. I was pretty tired so I thought I'd stand back and watch from afar, but when the music started I just ran straight in to the mosh. They did the Wall of Death (separate the crowd in 2 and then run at each other), so I was madly picking people up trying not to get stomped. Some dude was so thankful he hugged me and we sang together, arm in arm, in the mosh, jumping up and down. There were a shitload of casualties in the mosh but I stuck through til the end when they played Holy Diver (cover of Dio) which just went off. Needless to say I was covered in the sweat of a thousand men, dirty, sunburnt, and fucking tired.
What I realised was that if you weren't up front with the bands, it just seemed boring watching a far. This was the problem with the mainstage.
But yeah tips for other Soundwave goers from other cities: Water and coke are $3, Powerade $5, Beer $7. The food had chips, dagwood dogs, tacos and nachos, Hare Krishna food (this is the goer) and also some healthy Turkish food. Bring lots of cash because you're going to get pretty thirsty and hungry if your day is as hot as ours. Also put sunscreen on before you go. The first aid van did have sunscreen but only if you donated a gold coin (this saved me big time).
Also some bands started early, some started late, but generally it was pretty on the mark timing. If you really want to see a band, get there early for a good spot because theres always congestion getting there. Also don't be a pussy, get in the mosh so you can hear the music as it's meant to be heard.

No I think you'll find they swap the times around a bit. While I'm on that point...when the timetable for your city is available (i'm talking about the official one not the incorrect one on the forum), print it off and carry it with you. They don't have any at the venue. Also hot chicks will ask you for directions if you have it handy

Just got home from the Sydney one, feeling stuffed. Was a great night, and was great to see The Offspring finally.
Spent the day at the stage with the heavy stuff like Shadows Fall, and As I Lay Dying, then moved off to get a good spot for The Offspring.
Ears ringing so loud, I could hear screaming while I was in the shower washing all the dirt off, I think I'm going mad.

I've seen Yellowcard use that mosh move before, but I reckon it would be much more brutal at Thursday and KsE.
I do intend to try get to Cartel, but my priorities are KsE, Alexis, Incubus, City and Colour and SKSK and also would like to see Thursday and Cartel if the schedule/layout permits. _________________

Hit the Perth show yesterday.
I got in around 2 or so, got a couple minutes of Sugarcult, who sounded pretty bad tbh. Then went to grab me a couple of T's and then go get ready to move in on the City and Colour stage. The area was pretty narrow so I couldn't get right to the front, but was still happy with my spot. He's just amazing to watch. Also loved him mocking Plain White T's, who thankfully didn't drown him out.
After this we kind just killed time getting water and soaking up some shade. I did want to see SKSK, but they started early so I only heard two songs of theirs, and from a distance it's just not the same.
Eventually 6.40 came around, which meant Alexisonfire were coming, and aside from them blowing the sounds for a few minutes it was fucking awesome, part way through Happiness by the Kilowatt Dallas chucked in a bit of Midnight Oil, classic stuff. As well as George bagging out some guy that threw a crap pair of sunnies on stage.
From there we just moved right for Incubus, they were everything I'd come to expect from their dvd's, the only thing they don't have is crowed interaction. Either way it was still ace.
After this I wasn't even slightly interested in catching any Offspring, headed straight to the metal stage and waited for Killsiwtch Engage. They just kicked everyone's arse, truly awesome, they had the wall of death going with "fatty's holding skinnies on their shoulders" Adam D. was his usual awesome self, baggin' emo's, saying he had a spot for a 16 yo girl.. and so on. During The End of Heartache Howard jumped off one of the monitors into the crowed, thank fuck I wasn't underneath that, damn tank of a man he is. To finish we also got Holy Diver, was an awesome show, the band also let the kids that invaded the stage during End of Heartache come on at the end. Can't wait to see them again. _________________
