So Game Gear games being released under the Master System banner. I am worried about games that made it to both systems, like the 8-bit Sonic's
Example:
I loved the 8-bit Sonics on the master system almost as much as their 16-bit counterparts though the Game Gear versions (like the ones you get in Mega Collection) Sonic is way too big and its hard to dodge certain stuff and made it kind of frustrating. I am sure the hedgehog was not the only victim of this.
I just hope in situations like these they pick Master System ones, because choosing game gear sonics for Mega Collection was terrible.
It will be nice to play the old classics though, Alex Kidd, Wonderboy, Shinobi most of all _________________

Hey S.Jaworski! *hi five*
I'm glad they are supporting 8-bit Sega consoles they were a glaring omission. It may be the best choice for the Japanese market but I could never get my head around the Fantasy Zones. I found them brutally hard then and I still do now.
Still it is great news that they are putting this games back on the market place I might get to stroll once more through Golvellius: Valley of Doom.
Have they released any of the lightgun games on VC yet? I would love to have another go of Gangster Town. Hell if I didn’t already have a Wii I would buy one for Gangster Town alone.

Yaaay! Master System - my first games console! I want Wonderboy, Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and Chaos, Crash Dummies and Castle of Illusion - well, just to begin with anyway. _________________

All these games on the VC, when will they give the Wii a bigger HDD or a HDD attachment, not just being able to use SD cards.
This is great news by the way, bring on the Alex The Kidd games. _________________ RIP Buddha 19/10/1952 - 03/01/2004

I'm sure due to licensing etc it's probably impossible but...
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker please.
Any game which allows you to dance a jig that kills every enemy on screen simply demands to be played again and again. _________________

Hmmm, those annoying licensing issues will probably also make it next to impossible to see Castle of Illusion, Land of Illusion, Asterix, etc.
Oh well, as long as they make sure to eventually bring Phantasy Star to the table. I'd dread to even wonder what state the battery back up of a tangible cartridge of that game is in right now.
Oh, and Psycho Fox please.

We all knew the SMS was going to be one of the 2 systems to go to VC, now what's the other system going to be?
As for games:
Phantasy Star!
Phantasy Star!
Phantasy Star!
Oh and Golden Axe Warrior.
Now that I think about it, there really isn't much I overly want to see from the SMS.

Thats a pity as I loved playing Castle of Illusion. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Castle of Illusion (as well as Quackshot and Land of Illusion) on the Megadrive as well. I only remember playing Megadrive versions of these games. Well I was pretty sure that they were MD games. I suspect that they were ported down (or up) to the other system like a lot of games were. _________________

GAME GEAR! YES! I enjoyed the GG so much when I first got it (still would now if it wasn't broken). What would be better than this though is if you could play the GG games on the DS or something, just cause they are hand held games (and HH res) after all.
Either way more GG games is always good. Give me some Chakan and Shinobi! _________________ "If ignorance is bliss...then knock the smile off my face!"

Yup.
Sometimes (as in the case of Castle of Illusion), the general theme and settings between the Master System version of a game and the Mega Drive version were identical--it was (unsurprisingly) mostly the technical differences (scaled down and different level designs, graphics, audio, etc). Other times (such as in the case of the Master System's Land of Illusion versus the Mega Drive's World of Illusion), each platform had it's own exclusive sequel that took advantage of its particular system's strengths.
Pretty sure QuackShot never made it to the Master System, but damn if that's not another Sega classic that we'll most likely never see on the Virtual Console either.

Much love for the Illusion games. Who's being the tight arse? Disney?
I would totally duplicate purchase Wonderboy 3 as well for the sprites you see left in my AV. The Turbographix ones were butchered! Me sees a wonderboy 2/3/4 medley coming up. I can hardly wait
I wonder if I can still remember the Alex Kidd janken match results!

Was the Sonic the Hedgehog on Master System II the same as the Mega Drive version? I only had the MS II back in the day and Sonic 1 was my favourite but the Green Hill layout in the XBox Live version (based on the Mega Drive one i believe) seems different...but thats probably because its been so long since i played the MS II version.
Add me as another for Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Wonderboy. And put me down for Choplifter too, along with California Games (footbag lol).

Top stuff...I'll be interested in whatever classics I missed from my collection at the time.
I forgot about batteries in the carts...wonder how my Fantasy Zone has fared...not cranked up the Master System in so long.
I imagine they'll not be bringing any of the lightgun games across, or those that used the 3D glasses. Yeah...been itching to try those out since I got mine unpacked recently. _________________

Yes! Just. YES!
This is indeed a massive cause for celebration. The only thing that worries me is the release of Game Gear games under the Master System banner. I hope that this will not provide cause for sloppy ports (eg.. a slightly more inferior GG version released over an MS version).
There are so many titles that shine on the Master System, it's not funny.
Bring on the fun!

As a 100% Nintendo boy until I got a Playstation, I'm don't have any interest in playing Master System games. I'm having that exact same problem with the Turbogfx. I have no 'ties' or 'love' for almost all the games and although those games are getting 'good' reviews I don't think they could hold my interest for very long. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Fantasy Zone I (aready confirmed) & II, Alex Kidd in Miricle World & Bubble Bobble are all I need. I just hope that they only use the Game Gear for the games that were exclusive to that platform. _________________

I suspect so, these games were popular on the Megadrive (and probably the Master Sytem as well, not too sure though). Basically if the Disney games get ported over to the VC I'll have all of my favourite Sega MD games already.
It makes no sense why Disney aren't supporting the service though. I guess they'll hope on board eventually. _________________
