I have only recently been introduced to facebook and have found it incredible. It has been great for a social and networking application and I know theres some awesome people on this site that would be great to keep in contact with above and beyond the forums. I am thinking of making a PALGN group that everyone is free to join and we can expand our reach and network for this site!
LEt me know if your interested or if it would be a waste of time.

I have started a group to find it, go into the groups menu and do a search for gaming, it came up at the top of the search for me which is pretty good as a start.

maybe that will help. Hopefully it will gain momentum as its only me at the moment which is kinda sad.
update: me and doppleganger!!! yeah! memebership has doubled in the last hour!

I hear you! Nothing like perpetuating a non existent friendship with a series of pokes and vampire bites. Spamming friends is in vogue again!
I love the networking, hate the dross. Thankfully you don't need to go application crazy.

Groups you're already a part of will show up first when they match the criteria for a search. Same with friends names etc.

I agree to an extent - but to be honest, at least facebook has a little more "dignity" than myspace (I did say a little). Its applications may be pointless and time-wasting (and hold on a sec... we're posting on message boards right now... that's not socialising at all? ;D) but it still serves the purpose of networking. That is, you get people finding you that you had a crush on when you were 12 years old, which is always interesting (I have, anyway).
Also, everything in moderation. If you spend ALL day on facebook, then you've got social issues. But if you're posting pictures every few days of your social events... obviously you "get out and see real people" as well.

I just signed up to the whole facebook shebang. It's fairly confusing really. I'll get used to it I suppose. The adding friend system is very handy though, much better than Myspace.
I'll sign up to the PALGN thingy soon.

i found it a lot easier than myspace and used to to find poepl i used to know. I had lunch last week with a girl i havent spoken to or seen since I sat next to her in grade 5 it was amazing and I am having a catch up with a whole group of people from high-school.
I enjoy facebook, I am just getting sore from pokes and vampire bites and dodgeballs. I am not like anyone, I dont have a growing egg. But I did manage to update my whole game collection with one of the applications although I havent gotten round to xbox, ps1 and pc games yet, but i will, oh yes, i will.

yeah, my high school's 10 year reunion seemed to have been organised through Facebook.
mind you, on the night i still managed to completely forget it, so there's still some things an old fashioned calender, phone book and invitations are good for.

Now that interests me...what's this app about, how does it work?
I'm not on facebook and I refuse to be on there, but an application like that has my interest.
I'm generally against all these social networking sites as I've kept in contact with the people through my life I wanted to and deliberately ditched those I didn't and I don't feel the need to put up some kind of blog entry everytime I wipe my arse for the whole world to know about.

its a game collection application, you do a search and it brings all the gamers associated with your search up and you can pick have played, want to play or currently playing and it makes a public list of your games for bragging rights or organisation

i've got 2 of those on my profile:
Favorite Video Games, and Gamers.
they both have some pretty similar bits, but they also have slightly different functions, so i keep both.
on the whole, i hate facebook only marginally less than i hated Myspace, but it's been good for tracking my sister's trip around the world, so it's not all bad.
