I'm using this over component and it has a vertical line garbled on the far right and when underground, on the far left.
Anybody else getting this? Looks very unprofessional. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing Leon. Its a little annoying, but didn't stop me playing through the game again
Still, with the amount we pay for these games it'd be nice to avoid things like that. I don't remember seeing the problem on my cart... _________________

So it's got to do with component eh? It is quite off-putting for me. Hopefully Nintendo will shove out an update for it sooner rather than later.

It's part of the original ROM, and the way later NES mappers worked. Back in the day the NES overscanned your average TV so it cut off the top and sides, but the Wii only overscans 5% so you can see the full NES picture. Also newer TVs show more picture, if you plug the Wii into an 80s TV it will likely cut off the sides again.
There's nothing that can be done about it.

Fair enough. It's certainly not pretty. I guess if they ever release All-stars that will be the best verison to get (as it has a save feature also?). _________________ Shin J Leon.

buy some black cardboard and and cut strips to go over the edges, where the garbling occurs and you'll have your very own modern, 80's style TV. _________________

And yeah.. as sad as it sounds after I've grabbed all other past versions of Mario Bros., I'd still like to see an All-Stars version pop up on VC.

You know there is a thing as a classic and keeping things true to the original, but I find this clipping problem to be a bit absurb. I mean come on, 80s style TV? *sigh*
Really think Nintendo have dropped the ball in the VC a bit. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Yeah I agree, I much prefer xbox live arcade with things like Streets of Rage
and the Sonic games being prime examples.
I mean Im not asking for complete remakes but just some tidying up of games, like this issue would be
greatly appreciated.

Yes and no.
Fatal Fury Special while a SOLID port on the 360, I hated the fact you couldn't turn off the image filter.
And on the 360, the process of getting a title onto XBLA is very tough as M$ pick and choose what they want. So unlike the Wii VC, where it seems you can dump as much content as you want, it's a very strict process.
I personally don't really like the classic controller either. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I still haven't used the VC service yet. I'd rather buy any old cartriages that are missing from my collection or pick them up in a compilation. Infact I've been doing a lot of that as the VC has revealed some holes in my collection.
LeonJ, you might want to look into modified NES/SNES controllers for the VC, you can pick some up online at a fairly decent prices. _________________
