so now you can still be at the top being a medic, as opposed to all the medics bunched at the bottom. |
You've... never played Battlefield 2, have you? |
Yes... but not as a medic....
You get points for healing? cool.. _________________

Plenty of Aussie servers, no problems getting into one.
Max players I believe is 24, 12 a side.
And yes, in the stats menu you can click a button to reset the stats for whatever reason. _________________

Orange box is seriously a must-have. Have been playing TF2 since day 1 of beta, and I just can't believe the polish of the game. Though I do have my suspicions that beta was just a thinly-veiled excuse to (rightfully?) rob retailers of initial Orange Box sales...it was still oh so good.
Have finished Portals now, and completed all the advanced missions (the last two drained my life till I nutted it out!). Don't think I've ever felt a sense of accomplishment in a game quite like I did with Portals. And the hilarity- it's a blast!
Not touching Episode 2 till after exams, but apparently it's head and shoulders above Episode 1, which was a little disappointing. _________________

Ok, this is mildly embarrassing, but how on earth do you change your name in TF2? Mine's stuck on my email name!
I'd also like to join the PALGN Steam community, my steam ID is of course InvivnI

I know of the console way... just open a Console with ` then type "nick whateveyouwant". To enable the console, you'll need to go through to Options, Keyboard, Advanced and "Enable Developer Console".

I don't think /nick works for TF2. It's linked to the name you use for the Steam Community, you need to set a nick through the Friend Options thing. _________________

Ahh thanks! That fixed it. I haven't played much and I'm pretty terrible. But I already like the engineer class, building stuff is fun!

Yeah I haven't really played that long but being an Engineer is good. It'd be better if you could make more turrets though _________________

Heh, nailing that ONE is tough enough if it's placed right- imagine if it had friends! _________________

I played a couple of hours tonight (a good thing for me, games rarely hold my attention for more than an hour nowadays) and I enjoyed it. Though I do have one or two gripes. The main one is that I don't really like any of the weaponry. The game is pretty much based around shotguns, my least favourite weapon. They're slow, have short range and take aaaages to reload. The sniper rifle feels (and looks like) a toy, though I love the character model. The pistol is too weak and is almost useless, I know it's a secondary weapon but that doesn't mean it has to be a piece of sh**.
Spys are also a pain in the bum and I don't yet know how to pick one out in disguise (I remember Enemy Territory when it was as simple as hovering the mouse over the guy and noticing that no name pops up).
The addictiveness of building turrets in sneaky places to catch people off guard really carries the game for me, I don't think I really gel with any other class. I also like most of the maps so far, which is always a good thing!

Spy detection is basically based around the fact that they will pick a name from your team to use, so if you dont have any pyros and you see one running around, shoot it. And if its using your name, shoot it to.
Or if its leaving a trail of sapped buildables, shoot it too.
If you see any spy (on your team) not disguised as anything shoot it a bit too.
If you see anyone uncloak or cloak, it will be slightly tinted the colour of their true team.
Otherwise, just be pyro and try burn everyone. _________________

Spies disguised as medics dont show ubercharger and you can tell when a spy is disguised as a scout because they run slow.
What i do when playing is that i purposely bump into team mates walking towards me, if they stop you they are spies.

I think I've officially played TF2 too much. I found a rocket jump tonight that I haven't seen anywhere else in 2fort. Everyone jumps down the hole near the left resupply and intelligence entrance (and some demomen use it as a defensive choke point). Hadn't seen anyone rocket jump up the hole before I tried it. Useful for surprising people and shooting down their sentries. _________________

Harder to judge run speed unless you're playing a spy or scout yourself though, so instead look for the double jump- spy's disguised as scouts can't do it, and real scouts ALWAYS double jump around the place. _________________
