These are some bizarre guesses (System Shock, wtf?).

I have a feeling I know what it is, that steam punk game that came out after Baldur's Gate, it may have even used the engine, I'm not sure. I can't think of the bloody name, think it started with A (I could also be wrong as well, but it looks so much like it).

I remember it now. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Of course, having looked that game up, it actually doesn't look like it.

Oh well, that's my guess anyway.

ah ha!

In Cold Blood - thanks. it was on my mind all last night and i couldn't place it. i remember the ads for it, all Amnesty International-ish, but where it said "What Will You Do?" the checkboxes were like "Go order a Pizza" and stuff. just another in a long line of controversial Sony Adverts.


the blacked out bit in the top right was the game name.

Second (and unfortunately last) of a planned series of seven games. It had neat features you don't see in modern RPGs. For example, if you were a big spender at the tavern then the innkeeper would warmly greet you and give you the best table. If you always ordered the cheapest items on the menu then he would give snarky comments. Pity the series was prematurely cut short...
