"A prank by a TV comedy crew has turned into an international incident and it could end up making a laughing stock of the entire (APEC) security machine," a straight-faced Phillip Palmer, a newsreader on America's ABC TV network, said in his report. "$160 million was spent to keep dignitaries safe, and a convoy of actors got within yards of President Bush's hotel."
Love it to pieces. The police have been extremely heavy handed with everything APEC related so far, so their having to eat an international sized slice of humble pie pleases me.
Oh yeah, and that was a cracker of an episode to come back with! _________________

While the prank was funny I must say it was potentially dangerous and due to that point stupid.
They could've been dead had security been aware...it just begs the question, is it really worth it? _________________

I think it was justified, in the sense how lax it revealed security really was.
What if it really were terrorists? What if they really had been packing a boot load of explosives? If a couple of tv comedians can waltz past a checkpoint(s?), what's stopping a highly organised terrorist outfit from doing the same?
If anything, it was positive as it shook the police and security up into getting off their ass and looking deeper into things which don't look 'right', rather then saying, ah she'll be right and waving it through. _________________

Yeah in that sense it was good.
However hadn't they been so lucky we could've seen one of the most tragic deaths witnessed on tv. I'm not defending APEC at all; I'm just saying risking your life to prove a point is absolutely stupid. _________________

from what i've read though, it doesn't seem like they wittingly put themselves in danger.
they claim that they weren't even aware they were in the exclusion zone, but rather assumed they were approaching it when they decided to turn around, and that's when they were detained.
of course, this could be setting up a defense for later, but if anything, i think it makes the whole thing that little bit scarier. _________________

Yes. See, these guys have what is commonly known as balls, and it's something that's lacking alot in the world lately. Everyone's content to sit around and whine about the state of the world. Some people complain about their stunts, but I don't see how satire of the world can get across to a broader audience these days without it. _________________

I feel sorry for the cab driver who got arrested aswell, though it kind of makes me laugh.
And the world needs this kind of mockery humour these days, Im tired of listening to the rest of the media world who for some reason just wants us to be scared or too frightened to do anything with our lives. _________________ Eternity-he is coming to get us

Whatched? Were you inquisitive whilst looking at a watch in a past-tense verb form? _________________

This is why I love chasers, they don't restrain themselves - they do what they know will be funny and it works. Thats what makes it one of the best comedy shows around. It was a bit disappointing to hear some of the scenes in the show are actually acted out but it still doesn't stop them from being funny.
Does anyone know how good the extras are on the new Chasers DVD? I'm thinking about picking it up tomorrow after school. _________________

There is a difference between:

There's little to no difference. Both were being smartarses about simple spelling mistakes, which is really not appreciated around here. _________________

spelling mistakes shouldnt be commented upon. its very easy to type a spelling mistake on a keyboard, i do it all the time, and most times i dont pick up on it. besides, most people see the mistake and realise that its just that, a mistake... pointing them out kinda just makes you look like a twat most times is all... _________________

Now back on topic, I cannot wait to see Wednesday nights episode now.

It's pretty much going to take a proverbial dump on everything on the Wednesday Night Ratings now. _________________

I hard not to know who The Chaser boys are now. They have become so popular and with this APEC thing... they are immortal. They are getting like a million viewers average, am I right? _________________

They rated 1.49m for the season return last week, and that was 9th for the week. So you can only imagine how well they'll do this week with all the APEC coverage. _________________

I too am looking forward to The Chasers this week, that is if the set-top box doesn't crap out on us again at the beginning (I got it working halfway through last week.)
