Come on! I need this badly, I don't have a digital tuner for my LCD yet. I've just got an aerial plugged into it. *shudders*
It'll be good to put the PS3 to more use. Top idea.

^oh, so this acts as an actual receiver like how lcdtv's come with build in tv tuners? something like? i simply thought it was more of a recorder. if what your saying is correct then i'm even more hyped for this x3 _________________

Yeah ittek, it is both a digital TV tuner and a recorder. How good is that!
Now I want to see what it looks like and a price. Methinks I'll be upgrading my PS3's HDD.

^definitely, i guess i'll need to put in a bigger hdd, i've already got a 500GB external for it, but i dunno it might just be easier to upgrade the internal HDD.
My tv also already has a tv tuner, but i think it might be where its at cause the reception is still crap. _________________

It seems to have 2 tuners actually? I think you can record one thing and watch another.
This is pretty killer, if the price isn't insane this would increase the value of the PS3 quite a bit for me. HDD recorders like this are still a bit pricey, especially HD ones. I think australia uses the same digital TV standard as Europe so it has a good chance of being released here soon too. _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

Call me the eternal pessimist (which I am), but I don't see this being released in Australia. Seen too many things like this announced only to be disappointed by our countries antiquated entertainment legislations.
So yeah, this would be completely awesome, but I wouldn't bet on it coming out here.

The Only thing that would have turned me off this if if was baulky, or clipped on like those external cooling units, but it looks great! Dude Australia as far as our broadcast tech, is actully pretty advanced (compared to US anyway) so it could easily support this device. _________________ PSN ID: Mr_Blimson

Whaf he means is Australian law is generally anti-recording, especially TV, so it's not guaranteed this will show itself on our shores.

Yeah, I have no doubt we will receive given that we have HDD/DVD recorders. I was just explaining what the other guy meant. So long as playTV is cheap or, better yet, free, I'd use it.

There sure are, The only thing that will make the ps3 tuner better is if it records in 1080. Standard def looks too blurry on my projector.
