I just played through both characters' levels. It's quite an extensive demo... especially compared to Heavenly Sword's "quickie."

From the little video footage I'd originally seen, the game never struck me as being anything out of the ordinary. But the trailer I watched a few days ago whet my appetite, and after playing through just these two levels... I think "wondrous" is the best word to describe it.

It's certainly no casual title, and all the various commands can seem daunting at first, but it doesn't take that long to pick it up. It plays somewhat like a cross between PSO and Pokemon, and the various enemies that you defeat give you new attacks, which you can assign to any of the face buttons. Strategy seems to be a big part of the game, and when you take on the "Folklores" (bosses) at the end of each level, it'll really hammer the fact home. You find pages for a picture book, which give you visual clues as to how to defeat the monsters, and while they look like absolute gibberish when you first glance at them, they begin to make a ludicrous amount of sense once you're confronted with the gargantuan bosses (especially in the Warcadia level), and if you don't excercise your mind, button mashing will get you nowhere fast.

Also, kudos to the team for implementing SIXAXIS controls that actually FEEL like they belong and actually add something special to the experience. After playing through the first level, where you suck out the Id (souls) of your enemies by pulling up on the controller, I commented to my g/f that the game should make you yank the controller from side-to-side to simulate "wrestling" the spirit from the body. And lo and behold, that's exactly what you have to do in the second level.

I really need to start checking my house for bugs.... icon_eek.gif

I paused it for too long and the demo ends saying "Thanks for playing". The spell or whatever for the cannon makes me want to play it again.

Dang, why is it only available for a short time? I won't have enough bandwidth this month to cover it! hah. Really looking forward to trying Folklore though, and experiencing something that seems to make good use of motion control.

I liked the Jap demo when i dl'd it but didn't know what was going on so i couldn't really get into it.
This, however, is totally sweet. Only played thru the guys level, and loved it, so might leave the girl and experience it when i buy the game.
Combat seems mindless at first but when you start capturing more and more id it really opens up. And I totally agree about the sixaxis controls; they work beautifully and really seem to fit, rather than just feeling tacked on.
Also, the graphics are gorgeous and it ran extra smooth, even with a heap going on in the background.
And the boss at the end of the guys level was wicked!
