Who's going to see it?
I'm going for the first showing tomorrow morning. I thought there would have been a thread for this (I used the search button so dont get cross if its already being discussed).
I'm not going to get my hopes up, not expecting a blockbuster. If its anything like the new episodes anyway. _________________

I'll more than likely see it (my friends like the new simpsons still), but I'll be cringing the entire way through it I'd imagine. _________________

Is it going to be a throwback to the 90's? If not, then I'll pass. _________________

I'm going to go ahead and predict that 99% of people who post on this forum are gonna see this movie. You can't have escaped watching The Simpsons for 18 years or so. A fair few of us stopped watching a few years back, me included, but I've started again. It's not the same as it used to be but we're all... what... 18 years older than when it first started, of course our opinions are gonna change. If you were ever a fan you are going to see the movie. I'm predicting the box office takings to reach the top ten of all time pretty quickly. I don't really see any way that that will not be the case (especially with the simultaneous release in a number of countries). _________________

Agreed on basically all points (watching it, haven't watched in years, tastes change as mature).
Watching it tomorrow night, can't wait.

don't know if i'll see it tomorrow, but soonish, yeah
I know this is a bit off topic, but did anyone think the Family Guy movie (another animation series) was any good? I know it doesn't have the run of Simpson's, but... _________________

i'll be seeing it tomorrow.
i still enjoy the new episodes, i mean sure, they mightn't be as good as some of the mid-90s stuff, but it's still better than 95% of the "comedy" shows that are on TV in the entire duration of the series too.
--
as an aside, i "escaped" watching The Simpsons for at least the first 10 years of its duration. i didn't like the first few episodes, so i did what i usually do when i don't like something, i stopped watching it. i didn't watch an episode until after i'd left High-School. _________________

Yep, tight-arse Tuesday it is for me too. This film will have its moments but i cannot imagine it being a non-stop laugh-fest. You can put alot of laughs in a 24 minutes episode, over an hour, mmmmm not so easy.
The family guy movie was decent, not the highlight of the series by any stretch of the imagination. The south park movie on the other hand was pure genius. _________________

I don't really consider it a movie since all they did was stick 3 episodes together that were going to be a 3 part episode from season 6 I think it was. I really hope thats not what the Simpson Movie does. _________________

Going to try and go see it Friday, hopefully.
Everything I've read about it so far has been overly positive, actually. Of course we have to judge for oursellves but thats still a good sign.

Eh, missed this thread. "Last 5 or so seasons", Jibblets? Its more like 8 - in fact 5 years ago was when it went from mind-numbingly-awful to just 'meh'.
Now, stolen form my post in the Movies thread....
Yeah, I'm a Simpsons fan / nerd (no, really?) so I was probably going to like it anyway, but I thought it was great. Found it to be hilarious (yeah, seriously, actually funny). I mean, it doesn't feel like they stashed this movie away back in the heyday of Simpsons, but I still think it was great. Plot was decent, characters were used well, celebrity cameos were a very small amount and used organically in the story (no "Hey, aren't you alternate punk rock band Green Day?" type crap), and even the scenes that felt like 'new Simpsons' were funny.
I liked it a lot, definitely gonna go see it again and look for all the hidden background jokes and whatever.
Oh, and you wouldn't believe the celebrities that did cameos - Dustin Hoffman, Michael Jackson... of course they didn't use their real names but you could tell it was them! _________________

just got back from it.
thought it was pretty decent tbh. funnier than most "comedy" films, WAAAAAAAY funnier than anything Adam Sandler has ever done, though that's not saying much ( ).
if anything, i thought it could've been longer.
and Maggie said her first word. _________________

SPOILER
during the credits, there was a bit like the beginning, with all the Simpsons watching the credits, and as they were leaving, Maggie started gesturing, and Marge said something like "ooh, she's going to say her first word!" and she took the pacifier out of her mouth and said "Sequel?"
so yeah - stick around for the credits.
and i also LQTM* at your poor choice of words there.
