moved to appropriate forum.
have you tried re-installing the game/s?
have you downloaded the latest game patches/graphics drivers? _________________

What operating system are you running, haven't seen the Illegal operation error since Win 98.
Might be worth reinstalling Windows. _________________

Really? I get them all the time.
The save game crashing is confusing, but if no game starts its probably needs a DirectX9 reinstall. Or something, I mean it could be sooo many things, we need more info like if all games are doing this or just a select few. _________________

this has been all the games i have been playing lately.. so i am assuming it is all of them.
when i do reinstall a game it is fixed for the first time i play it... but then it will go back the closing on me again.
i only got gothic 3 today and it came with directx 9.whatever and i installed that.. so i dont think it is a problem with idrectx

goto microsoft.com and download the latest DirectX from there and try that first.
i haven't heard of automatic graphic drivers, so really you should goto nvidia.com or ati.com (depending on your card, obviously) and get the latest drivers and re-install those.
i guess Soundcard and mobo drivers should also be updated, just to be sure.
if these don't work, then you can try uninstall ALL your games and clean up the HDD before reinstalling each one at a time and seeing if they remain working then.
otherwise it's a total re-format. _________________

^ heh, don't resort to a format so quickly. Windows always gets confused with the drivers. Just install them yourself. _________________

ok, that's weird. =/
and you've seemed to have deleted the post that said you have a GeForce Go 7400. was this right?
i don't know a great deal about the card off the top of my head, but when i googled it earlier, it said it was a Laptop version of the GeForce 7 Series architecture, so in theory, the 7 Series drivers should work it.
i guess in this regard i don't think i can help further. _________________

yeah it is a laptop.. but im thinking even if there is a update to the driver it wont be able to help because in the case of warhammer 40,000 i had been playing it for a while before it had happened

Some laptop video card cannot used the conventional Nvidia drivers because the driver wasn't written for the laptop.. try go on to your laptop manufatoury(spell)'s website and download the latest fix..
other things u might look at is..
1.scan for virus as it could clog up or closed someone INF/system/multimedia driver or instruction programs
2. reinstall games
3. install/reinstall directX 9.0C
4. check memory/ sometimes cause problem in running program
5. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers to check for latest "hacked" Geforce Go drivers
i think dat all i can think of at the moment ..giveitago _________________
