There is a new map out for battlefield 2 ranked servers called "Highway Tampa"
Here is the download link.

Apparently it also features 2 new weapons to unlock!
Can't wait to see what it is like. icon_biggrin.gif
Apparently it is like the El Alamein map from bf1942 which is compromised of mainly tank and open desert warfare.
Hope there's a few attack helos too. icon_wink.gif

Sweet about time EA!
Oh it is also a collaboration between EA/Dice and intel so there is some intel advertising in there on the ingame billboards.

/\ sorry bud, if its anything like el alamein, (great map that one. strafing heaven), you wont get anywhere unless you can get into the mountain range. then its a matter of stopping vechiles going through it.

Basically its a map for Vechiles. and Engineers. And Medics, for the engineers.

Well this has to be the craziest Armored vehicle map I have seen!!
So many tanks/APCs/AA in the level it's not funny!
Check this screenie to see the mass amount of tanks.Especially on the radar, 10 armoured vehicles! icon_eek.gif

Real shame there aren't any attack helos though and only one jet per side. icon_sad.gif

Also I don't think it has unlockable weapons, that will probably be in the next patch.

I love the open ended-ness of the level though, you can get in a buggy and just floor it across the desert.I like it quite a bit.
Although seems like everyone goes the anti tank class, which is a bit of a no-brainer I guess seeing it is full of armored vehicles.

Looks a bit like 73 Eastings from DC with all that armour!

Considered downloading but I'm a bit sick of BF2 after months of hard work on a substandard mod due to difficulties of the engine icon_wink.gif

What kind of mod were you working on for BF2?
You have anything on ModDB?

Yeah, i think to make most of that AA more useful you would need attack helos. It would also make lone wolf tanks very vulnerable. (good thing)

I just got BF2 working this last weekend (I've only had it since release day, so I'm understandably pleased with myself). Can you just download this map, or do you need to repatch afterwards?

Yeah Zarnoss, Rising Conflicts.

I joined the team back when we were making Desert Combat Extended (DCX), and became lead artist. All was fun and we had a good community atmosphere.

Then we made our move to BF2, and with such messy and unintuitive new systems, we, like all the other teams had a hard time adapting to the engine.

After the leader decided to release a very under-developed build to the public that was still using basic looking testing maps and unpolished coding, with half the planned models used, all in order to beat the release of 2142 and the subsequent loss of players, I decided to voice my concerns on the direction the mod was taking, and as such left me in no other position to quit when nothing was done.

I'm now awaiting the release of UT3 in the hope of moving on to a better experience, something a little less convoluted in design, with my own mod set in an alternate reality Cold War on US and Russian home soil, using all sorts of cancelled weaponry and vehicles of the era.

Battlefield 1942 was one of the times when I played a game and was just amazed by it. BF2 was fun, unless you were modding it. icon_biggrin.gif
