FIRST!!
Oh wait a second, there is next to no one on the forum who actually appreciates PC games. Needless to say, I'm excited.
I'm pretty sure this is going to warrant a public holiday in Korea too. _________________

Not entirely unexpected but great news. Hopefully they manage to get the great balancing and varied racial abilities of the first game into this sequel. It will be interesting to see how this progresses. Can't believe that it's been 9 years since the release of number 1.

No doubt they have been putting ideas into this for the last 9 years.
It should be an outstanding game.
This is worth getting a new PC for.
EDIT: Not really a shock, but still a fantastic announcement. Everyone in the press was told something big was going to be announced for the past couple of weeks and there was massive speculation everywhere, on news sites, podcasts, forums. For Blizzard to announce it in Korea and drag the American press over there had to mean one thing - it was going to be about Starcraft.

Bet it'll be just as innovative and original as Command and Conquer 3. But people will lap it up anyway.

I'm sure we're talking about EA here as well...
Can't wait to get this game, finally my lacking of playing the original in the hope that I'll just start learning tactics on the sequel has paid off.

Blizzard have a proven track record, I reckon this will be awesome. At the very least it will be semi awesome, which still means a very good game!

Kinda expected this from the rumors and teasers. But it's still some what unbelievable that it's here finally.
Doubt they'd be changing the formula much, especially with the Korean crowd. _________________

Not much of a PC gamer but if there's one game to get non-PC gamers talking its this game. I wonder what the IC death rate will be like in korea after the game is released .

Warcraft 3 wasn't an improvement over Warcraft 2 apart from the graphics IMO and then I don't even like the Warcraft 3/World of Warcraft art style anyway. Then:

This is totally right, there's no point alienating their biggest fanbase.
IMO Starcraft 2 will be very lacking if we don't get some proper scaling in the game/ Especially after Supreme Commander did it so well.

Blizzard added the RPG elements to the RTS genre with Warcraft 3, something that was more in line with turn based strategy titles moreso than real time. I have no doubts that Starcraft 2 will further the genre again, while still keeping it in the realm of RTS but adding enough new features to make it a whole new game to learn. This isn't Westwood we're talking about here, Blizzard actually have a proven record for setting the bar with which all other RTS titles are judged.

just looked at the screens from IGN, and damn they look fine.
if you weren't told explicitly that yes, this is using 3D rather than sprites, you almost wouldn't know.
EDIT: i think i peed a little when i saw the trailer. _________________

As true as this is, im sure many people are excited about this. I am. and judging by the above posts, so are other people.

So horribly true. blizzard does have a good track record though, so it definately wont be bad, even if it is just a extension of the story and a graphics update.
Speaking of graphics, this will be DX10 wont it? _________________

And alienate most of their userbase? Doubt it. It may have both 9 and 10 though.
