Hi Guys,
I've currently got a 360...but it's just died on me and it's currently away for repair. I really do love the 360 and it's setup - but the unreliability has totally turned me off!! My warranty is running out in July and I don't trust the console to last after that..... So I'm considering selling it on Ebay and saving for a PS3. What I really wanted to know - is the PS3 worth the purchase?? I'm not really interested in watching movies.....only the gaming side!! Xbox live is a brilliant setup - how does the Playstation online compare??
If the PS3 isn't that much better...then I'll just extend my warranty on the 360 (although it would annoy me to do so!!).
Thanks for your help

All I can suggest is go to a store, play with it and decide. I love my PS3, love the way the network works and how intuitive it is. However I've never touched a 360. I guess one thing is that you don't have pay to play on PSN and home is going to rock!

I think the PS3 is worth it. If your a film fan its ideal with the blu ray drive. Most films look amazing in high def.
The games are great as well. Being able to import games like college bball and baseball gives it a huge step above the 360.
My 5c worth. Damn rounding _________________

deffinately right at this time i dont know whether the games will sell you since there deffinately hasnt been enough purely made ps3 games to set it apart from 360, just be sure todo some research on ps3 games to see whether you'll be interested or not.
the psn is great, i havent experienced lag on it yet and i doubt i'd experience it anytime in the future. Also if your patient see whats to come for the ps3 (little big planet, home, mgs4, ffxiii etc) and then decide _________________

thanks for the comments guys!!! so no lag even against people in the USA or Europe??
I'm a sports nut....but there isn't really much out on the ps3 that interests me. Although formula one looks like fun.. The game that I'd be really hanging out for is the next version of pro evo soccer!!!
It also annoys me how you have to pay for xbox live subscription....
I'll be selling whatever I can find now on Ebay so I can get a ps3!! Will take a lot of stuff lol. I've been looking at ps3's on ebay - maybe I could pick one up for $850-$900...
Cheers,

As far as the games go, I think the 360 has an extremely strong line-up this year, so long as you're into action, shooters and RPGs (although I don't think the PS3 is offering much strength in other genres either). On the other hand, I think the PS3 is a much better piece of kit. The 360 sounds like a jet engine, and is about as reliable for running games as a wooden cart. I wouldn't give up my 360 for the world, but if I were in your situation it would be considerably harder. Ultimately it's the games that you buy a console for, so just try and come up with a list of what you want to play in the next year and see which will give you the better gaming value for your dollars. _________________

ps3, for me, trumps the 360.
I gave up my 360 when it dies on me and really dont know if i will buy another just because do i want another brick in the house.
It is unrelaible. The ps3 isnt. Nearly no body has experienced a single problem within it, and that is a reason alone for it to have my support.
The above poster was rigt though, you do buy the machine for the games, but it is always good to have a working systme to play your games on , with the 360, right now, it is simply luck of the draw. When will it conk it.
ps3 also has blu-ray player built in if you want to experienc HD movies and dont want and addon. It has a big HDD for everything you could possibly need. It pretty much is a multimedia machine.
With the gams for the ps3 there are titles to look forward to. 360 does have the better titles because it has been out longer so that is predicted, but you cant deny that fact. But that doesnt mean the ps3 is ripped of bad titles aswell.
Ps3's most "anticipated" lineup would be sonys exclusives. It does share titles that the 360 has aswell.
it really boils down to this. Do you want a reliable peice of machinery witch can provide an awesome gaming experience with no problems thus far. Or do you want a machine that sounds horrific when you load up a game, and constantly feel te paranoia of " when will it break, when will it freeze"
Thats my 2c, in the end the decision is with you.
I also want to add tat my whole above post ^^^^ is only of my experineces and other experiences that i have heard of with both machines.
The 360 is a good machine, if it doesnt break on you, there is no debating that. But unfortunatley that isnt always the case. _________________

If the 360 was reliable then I wouldn't even be considering buying a 360 because it does the job. But now that I've lost faith in the 360 it's unfortunately on it's way out for me

I love my 360 and my ps3. If i was you i wouldnt sacrifice a 360 for a ps3 at this point in time. both have and will have good exclusive releases. I cant wait for Mass Effect on 360.

Thats good advice, they both bring different things to the table. Differnet games, styles, online communties. Its all different, but in this persons dilema i think saving for a ps3 would be the way to go. _________________

Yeah - I think the ps3 will be best for me. I'm happy to keep saving and I'd willing to wait until the ps3 has a price drop (maybe by Xmas...). A lot of things are happening with my 360 that I don't like.. 1. Breaking down and now my warranty runs out in July. 2. My xbox live membership is up for renewal...and I hate having to pay it when sony can provide online for free.
PS3 it will be for me!! The one game I really want anyway is pro evolution soccer 7 later in the year - it's worth waiting for.
Thanks,
