Well news just in, the fantastic although pre-rendered video that we saw from E3 is errily close to the actual game.

So looks like Halo 3 won't be the best looking fps this generation but can it still hold its fps crown or will killzone finnaly step up to the plate and deliver the performance of its life?

Yes there is no doubt that Halo 3 will sell a s*** load of copies based on its popularity alone, without a doubt the 360 has a large install base also.

So essentially the pressure is on Sony to produce the goods, after saying that the ps3 is capable of more then the 360 is. Both games look really good.

By the way Im not saying that Halo would be s***, I was refering to the graphics, I'm as much of a 360 fanboy as any one, but hell even I have to say that if the game is even only 80% of what the video was, its graphics are better then anything seen, even Gears of war or crysis.

And thats saying something, though still not enough for me to shell out a grand for a ps3, maybe when Metal gear solid xomes out.

Well, you got me. I give in, you win.

So what are we supposed to do now?

I mean, it is obvious Halo 3 will sell whether its a good game or not, but if it was crap, that would be its reputation down the drain.

I just don't really like playing FPS on the PS2/3 controller. The Xbox/360 feels much better. That being said, I'll be shocked if Killzone2 looks anything like the quality of that trailer. A man can dream though...a man can dream...

There has been growing speculation that the killzone trailer is unrealistic. When they showed the Motorstorm preview at E3 the game looked better, but in a different way than the actual released game. For those that have seen and played motorstorm we all know how amazing those graphics are. Killzone may deliver, we just have to wait and see.

I feel as though this is the wrong section (belongs in sony section).....but this is old news isn't it? If you look up Killzone on Ps3 on Wiki you'll see they reported on this a while ago.

I doubt it'll look anything like the video though....and if they do manage to get it out in the next 2 years looking like that...then I would imagine lots of shortcuts in other areas. I have no doubt those sorts of graphics are attainable this gen....I just don't think that particular team are the ones to do it (Guerrilla Games).

The game's budget is over $20 Million USD, which is I think the highest budget for a game ever.

They had 30 people working on the first Killzone and it was also ported from PC (KZ was supposed to be a PC game initially). Now they have 120.

They use all the new tools and Sony are working VERY closely with them to try and reach that level of detail.

Personally, I think they'll come damn close, if not right about the same to the E3 05 trailer. Guerrilla didn't exactly blow us away with the first Killzone but it had some hella stunning moments and showed a massive amount of potential.

That being said, please don't compare it to Halo. Please.

^ Those are links to the original non-ingame video though, thry prove nothing. Sure, they look great, but that isn't the point of this thread. This thread is looking at the actual game vs that original trailer. Most people (including myself) doubt that the actual game will look as good as that. They may come fairly close however, we'll see.

Well I hope that Killzone does deliver the goods. I'm quite enjoying the Killzone demo atm and have decided that the game is definitely worth a purchase. So if this game turns out good and with the other games coming out for PS3 I'm actually going to ave to buy one, even with the $1000 pricetag.

Mate sorry to pick you up on a technicality but there are quite a few games over this mark. One that springs to mind is Shenmue for the Dreamcast which weighs in at a whopping $70 million USD.

I haven't looked into Killzone much, I'm thinking that Bioshock and Halo 3 will satisfy my FPS desires for 07 but time will tell.

Unfortunately not, one hasn't been released, though there was some info about one in the first post of the thread (which I found quite interesting). I say go for it, if they can manage to make the game look something like that trailer, then I'll be very impressed. Probably enough to buy it.

Yeah, I'm not too knowledgable on the budgets of most games, so thanks for that tidbit. That's massive for a dreamcast game icon_eek.gif

Anybody know what the budget of Gears of war and halo 3 would be?? Be interesting to find out how much they did cost.

Once you said GoW the figure 7-9 million popped into my head. Can't say that that's correct, but thats what I recall it being.

^Correct, the budget for GoW wasn't all that high, with it being around the $8 Million USD mark. With Killzone being $20 million...it better have some F**king amazing production values.
