Who will star as the Prince??
He has to be tall, athletic, slim, young, dark and handsome.
Sounds like Danny DeVito to me. _________________

So this film is now more than a rumor? Cool.
Personally speaking, the main draw card of the Prince of Persia trilogy was the story, so seeing it hit the big screen is great to hear.
I wonder if it'll be a new story altogether or a variation of the Sands of Time stuff. Either way, I'll be looking forward to hearing more about it. _________________

Wow, they really killed this movie before it even took off.
Michael Bay hasn't even had the chance to destroy Transformers yet, and they're already handing him more canon fodder. If they wanted to make it like Pirates (which it probably could be), why didn't they hire Gore Verbinski?

Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you.
I'm sure he'll do an adequate job. Never played a PoP game and probably never will, but I wouldn't mind checking the movie out. If they try to make it like Pirates, it's going to be epic.

Michael Bay directing a PoP movie?! Who in their right minds thought that was a good idea? Damnit all, i can just imagine it now:
The Prince, a muscle bound meatsack (probably Vin Diesel), has to infiltrate the highly guarded (and well stocked of explosives) castle/military compound of a terrorist faction to rescue 'his girl' and take revenge for the death of his best friend (a dog) at the hands of said terrorists. There will be lots of 'tense' stealthy scenes as The Prince (a stunt double) acrobats his way past guards, breaks their necks mid-air, and then lands while simultaneously lighting a cigarette and spitting out a cheeseball one-liner.
The thrilling climax will occur after a sprawling fight-scene with 'The Boss' (accompanied bad metal/techno) which leaves the prince out of breath and nearly breaking a sweat, and the terrorist leader all but crippled. Princey will grab 'his girl' up into his arms, mumble some clichéd bullshit, and then flick a cigarette into the conveniently placed stockpile of highly unstable explosives. In slow motion, as a giant fireball is licking at their heels, the Prince will have to wall-run out of there, jump to and then swing off a low-flying helicopter that happens to be passing, catch a piece of hanging fabric on the descent, and then bullet-time dodge past some spinning blades (and over a pit of crocodiles with bees in their mouths) onto the safe ground (mere metres from the massively exploding building) where the shot will fade-to-black while he simultaneously says "That was for Rover!" and gropes 'his girl'.
It'll break new records at the box-office, and spawn a slew of crappy merch and a game of the movie of the game. _________________

What a nightmare. Has anybody seen Bad Boys, or the Island. This movie is going to suck harder than a fleet of hoovers.

The first Bad Boys was fairly entertaining for me actually, although the second movie was ... I haven't really seen much of Bay's movies that I was impressed with still, although as DrTim said, there could be worse, and I'm sure we're all happy this wasn't by Uwe Boll.

That is gold! Is that a SomethingAwful piece, or did you do that yourself?
If that's all you then... goddamn!
You're right BigM (can i call you that) - Uwe Boll would be much, much worse. But still, I just can't even begin to imagine Bay making the movie anything like the source material. I'm sure that it'll have oodles of eye-popping explosions though, so at least we'll get some Bang for our Buck (sorry) _________________

I only have one question... how is Michael Bay going to put in the chase sequence that involves something being thrown off the back of a truck while speeding down a highway? I mean, it's not a Bay film if he doesn't reuse the exact same scene over and over again.

I would pay money to see that film. Even if that film was just 2 hours of the Carlton dance, I'd still go watch it.

Love the game. 2009 is ages away though. The lead character is a toughie though. Could it be Deppy? He could definetly pull off the look i reckon. _________________

i actually liked The Island. it was nowhere near as thought-provoking as the trailer made it out to be, but it was entertaining enough.
i would've preferred a more... subtle... approach to the themes though.
i'll hold out judgement on the film until i've at least seen who's cast as the Prince. it could be quite could, with the right script and actors. directors aren't the be all, end all of films. well, there is possibility of the worst director making a great film, with the right script. _________________

The Island was great until they left "The Island", then it was just implausible scenario after implausible scenario. I mean who survives a fall from a skyscraper? No one, that's who.
Edit: Actually The Tick could, but then again he's nigh invulnerable.

My instincts tell me that it will be Orlando Bloom. Although I would like to see him be in the film, I would rather they get an unknown who is a stuntman and an actor. One thing that would really make it worthwhile is if they hire someone who can do Parcour (or whatever it is), just like the guy at the start of Casino Royale.
PS: I'm still alive
