I've noticed recently that me and my friends who all baught a PS3 on launch have also now all purchased HDTV's to go with them, has anyone else done this as well because of the PS3.
Just think that the PS3 has forced us to evolve lol and now that i ponder even more its a Sony Bravia was this their plan to begin with? hehehe
Anyway just interested to know if anyone else has taken the step to go that one bit further and make their Gaming experience one to remember! _________________

I bought a HDTV especially for my gaming in October, for the 360 then. But now only for my ps3. We all need to evolve i guess having the most newest console on the market, with a spiffy blu-ray included in it, makes us all want to make sure we have something new to view it on.
But you need a HD TV to get the most out of these consoles otherwise they dont look half as good. _________________

Yeah, i've been holding off on 360 because of heating issues so i wasnt really moved to update until the PS3, just thought it was odd since everyone i know IRL have done the same thing to make sure they experience the most _________________

Yeah, I got sucked in and bought an HDTV after getting a PS3 (not a Bravia).
The only problem was that with the PS3 on HDMI and all the leftover component inputs, I decided I needed to plug them up with a 360 and HD DVD drive too.
Great idea though - PS3 / 360 aside, I've got everything hooked up to the TV now, including a Mac Mini as an HTPC.

I got a great HD TV for just over $1,000 a few months ago mainly for my PS3 but I've always wanted a new TV regardless.

I'll get one eventually. It's a lot of money though, and I'm trying to save here.

^Man, just wait a couple of months, or a year, and all this new tech will be around the same price as a good CRT or crap plasmas are now. It's all about patience, we went and bought a top of the range CRT about 1 1/2 years ago when plasmas were too expensive, then in a couple of months plasmas were in around the same price range so I was pretty pissed off. _________________

It's what I'm actually doing to be honest. I honestly want 1080p, but the fact that 1080p TV's cost 3 grand and up usually, I just don't bother. I'm also waiting to see what that new Laser TV is all about. _________________

Yeah, I don't think I'll be buying anything TV again till this Laser TV comes out, it looks pretty interesting. But then something else will come out even bigger and better than that. *sigh* its a never ending battle with technology . _________________

I know what you mean. Depending on where you want to play your 360, maybe look into a LCD computer monitor. For about $500 you could get a nice 22" widescreen which plays ~720p through the VGA.
Technology is a never ending battle. You have to eventually jump in and be happy with what you got. _________________

I tried that scheme with the Monitor for the PS3 but the dang thing doesnt support HDCP and i didnt even know until i started researching for the DVI/HDMI cable to connect the two together that i learned about it.
Be sure to do research before you purchase, it can save you a few hundred dollars sometimes. _________________

I got a really good 32 inch LCD TV for well under a grand - PS3 or not, that price sealed it for me.

Not bad. I'd love to get a new HD TV myself, I've seen some well priced ones around, but I've got to recoup my losses from the PS3 still. I'm keeping an eye on the prices though, they're gradually going down. _________________

Harris Technology - they've got some decent deals, especially for an IT shop selling TVs.

That is a dumb argument.
Because by the time you wait to get that display, there will be other disaply with extra features that make it 10x better. The only reason i would wait atm is for 1080p.
And if you bought a CRT 1.5 years ago the prices of LCD's and plasma were not that expensive. And at the time CRT technology was on its way out. _________________ Samsung 32" LCD

Never and i mean never wait for technology.
If you want to buy a HD TV and it has all of the features which are standard in most HD TV's for example the resolutions up to 1080i just buy one. With technology there is always something better. Whether you buy the most expensive tv with all the featuers the week later they will have more features in a better tv. Its just the way it is. _________________

Yeah, well the maximum display PS3 will be able to do is 1080p (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not really into this stuff) so I might as well wait till 1080p tvs come down in price, so I can get the max out of it, because new technology won't be able to do any better.
Oh btw, I don't really know when I got my tv, I just pulled it off the top of my head. _________________

I bought a 26" Samsung HDTV last summer, and it has served me well. The next upgrade will ( probably ) come in form of a HD-quality surround sound system, since my current speakers pretty much suck. _________________

I'm in an awkward position where I won't upgrade just my screen, I need to get the audio system to go with it, so I need to wait until i have a job and am earning some cash before I bite the bullet, hopefully by then SED technology will at least be available.
