Guitar Hero 2 is ridiculously addictive and even though I'm sure a bunch of you have it on the PS2 it's FINALLY ARRIVED for the X360 as of today. I went and bought it this afternoon ($129 at JB Hifi - that's a killer deal!) and after dinner and finishing an assignment I decided it was time to check it out. It's been 5 hours. I JUST (seriously) turned the thing off for the sake of my eyes and mind. I've already beat it on easy and getting through medium. I've never played a brand new game that long in one sitting.

Having never played then PS2 version I can only assume it's the same thing with some nice spit shine which can't be seen as a bad thing. The 'new' tracks are as good as the original ones (I love the Iron Maiden track) too which is a huge plus.

I am a guitar player myself and even with the odd chord fingering I can't help but get into it. I play it like a real guitar which is very odd (and scary...) but it's SO addicting. Playing hard songs like a pro is a very cool feeling too icon_razz.gif

Anyway. I just wanted to spout how crazy in love with this game I am. I think I'm gonna be after a second axe as soon as possible to get my buddies in on some killer co-op action! If only they'd announce a date for the wireless one and I *might* be able to hold out...

Oh and by the way, I have the 'bad' guitar with NO problems so far. At least I don't think so... My whammy bar is working as well as I can imagine it too. It is strange that you can only push it in ONE direction though (I don't think that's the problem with it though) and not both like a real one to stretch the note higher and loosen it lower.

My and the girlfriend have been rocking with this all week on my PS2 and we had a party the other week and had people strumming till the early hours.

This and Singstar are such fun party games. And everyone pretty much gets into it. Amazing, people are actually 'getting' games these days instead of slandering our hobby!

I think I may have to pick this up for the 360. Extra tracks, nicer graphics and downloadable tracks in the future!

I'm heading over to JBs after work tonight to pick up a copy myself - although I'm heading straight from there to a mate's gig. I'm going to look like a complete arsehat standing there with a beer in one hand and a big ol' box of nerdiness in the other icon_razz.gif

But yeah, I hope they bring out the wireless 360 guitar sooner rather than later as I'll be waiting on that before I buy a second axe.

Flaunt that nerdiness Karai, being a nerd kicks arse. And if anyone defies the power of the nerd, slam them across the head with your guitar..hero.

I may pick this up tonight. With the staff discount I'd get it for about 120, which ain't bad. I already have the PS2 version though, with 2 guitars...but online play...icon_sad.gif

I was going to hold off until it dropped in price, but it was pretty naive of me to think I could actually resist the temptation of a 'new' Guitar Hero. I'll probably head down to JB sometime soon and start rocking all over again. I think it was about time I started up my 360 again. Without a Live Gold account, the 360 doesn't really offer much incentive to play icon_confused.gif

You're going to need a guitar anyway soy ou may as well get some practice before Rock Band comes out! Without a date or a price it might not be at all what people are after either... rumors of $300 USD are NOT a good sign icon_razz.gif

Yeah, I downloaded one of the music packs last night icon_smile.gif
I got the one with Stella (Incubus) and two other tracks that I forget right now, one of which I like. This only marginally beat out the one with Motorheads Ace of Spades which I'll have to pick up shortly.

Hope they keep bringing these out at a solid rate.

I'll download it when I finish the career.

So far I'm totally smashing through Hard mode career, 4/5 starring almost everything. My main focus is 5 starring Jordan on hard mode though...SO close to it with a 4 star, but so far. F**king solos.

Like hell I'll be buying any of the add-ons.
What a total rip off!!

Costing 500 points per 3 songs? Work out what that is going to cost you for the full 48 songs (if I remember right).
Nearly twice the cost of the game brand new on the PS2.

Each song for 100 points would be great, but they are ripping the piss!!

Dude seriously anyone that buys those has more money than sense.. if not many people buy it then they will lower the price, they are testing the waters with this one to see how much people will pay..

If you buy it without a second thought they are going to continue to rort you...

Look at the post "Is Microsoft becoming too greedy?" on the official Australian Xbox forums.

I have the buyers remose now that I've actually been told how much that 500 points equates to in 'real cash-monies'. I just happened to have 500 points sitting there when I saw them, and I really loved that Incubus album way back when...

No more 500 three-song packs for me!

Yeah, I'm not overly pleased at how much that cost me - Or that I got so easily sucked into the whole 'it isn't real money that I'm spending... it's points!' mentality icon_pout.gif

As countless others have said: 100 points (or less) a song, or GTFO.

Ok ive tried out the majority of the songs now and im happy to say they are no way near as good as the songs on GH1. Sure theres a couple of good songs like Carry on Wayward Son but you think after the sucess of the first game they could buy some better song rights?

Makes me feel like getting the GH1 packs but the prices are to high at the moment like you guys say. Still GH2 is awesome fun! Time goes so quickly..

The 360 version is good, but the defective controls and expensive downloadable content let me down. All these songs were from the first game on the PS2 so how much effort was really involved?

Man im starting to get better now, just got the 200k singleplayer achievement along with the 100% hit achievement yesterday which I obtained while in a hang over.. starting to realise its alot easier to get 100% then it seems - done it a few times today.

I tried Jordan on expert and failed after 15% though icon_lol.gif

Now that you guys have had a bit of time to get a feel for the game, which of the songs are you're favorite to play? That is, whenever you start up the game, are there any songs that you know that you'll end up playing thought by the time you put down the controller?

For me, it's these songs that always get a playthough:

You Really Got Me
Carry on Wayward Son
Search and Destroy
Can't You Hear Me Knockin'
Tripping on a Hole in a Paper Heart
Jessica
Carry Me Home
Beast and the Harlot
Hanger 18

and of the Bonus tracks:
Gemini
Six
The Light That Binds
Thunderhorse

Yeah, I always play for a while whenever I load the game up. My fingers hate me for it afterwards. RSI, here I come!

The only song I play atm is jordan. I'm absolutely obsessed with beating that song on Expert, and 5 starring it on Hard. I keep getting 4 stars, and it's incredibly frustrating.

Jordan is the only song that I have yet to beat on expert, it's driving me insane. I haven't played it for a while so maybe I should just get back into it. I always manage around 57%, iirc, then get torn to shreds by the rest of that evil solo. Even on practice mode I can't seem to find a pattern to it. Bah, I'll get there, probably.
