This is an experiment, of sorts so I have no idea whether it will work or fail.
Basically the idea of this thread is to make blog style posts about your 360 and the various experiences that come with it. Rather than this thread being about one individual and his/her opinions and experiences, it's about all of us and our experiences. Rather than have a comments section like a blog would, as we read each other's 'entries' if we think we want to comment on something then we quote it and it could turn into a discussion. If it does, great, if it doesn't, so what? The thread will still be active anyway.
What this thread should not be used for is for news, links to reviews or articles online or anything like that. This thread is purely for you to write about your experience/s with your console. Be that a gaming moment you've had, initial impressions on a game (that doesn't have its own respective thread), discovering something cool in a game or whatever. It's about you and your experiences with the console, nothing more.
Hopefully that has explained what I intend this thread to be for and hopefully as a result, it will be successful. If it's not though meh. It was just an idea.
Anyway, I'll start off so you guys can get an idea as to what I mean.
----
As I mentioned in the Gears thread, I recently started playing the game again after some time away and it was exactly how I expected it to be. I was very rusty and was nowhere near the usual standard that I would have. I was doing some really n00b-type moves, aiming pathetically and even getting confused at times as to what I should do within the moment I was in, so yeah it took a bit to get used to. As I kept on playing, I did start 'coming on form' and ironically enough it was through Sniping shots. Why is it ironic? Because I only just recently became efficient with the Sniper so I definitely wasn't expecting it to be the weapon I was good with (again) upon my return. I wasn't complaining mind you because I love that Sniper and it's ever so satisfying to see that head explode as I get a headshot.
As the night drew on I left the matches I was playing with friends and started to do some Ranked matches. I was expecting to fully suck in these as well but much to my surprise, I hit my 'standard' pretty much instantly and kept at that level for the rest of the night. I was quite happy with that. First map was Raven Down and 17 rounds; fast, furious and really damn competitive. I was lucky enough to find a room of Aussies, all of whom were on par with me and what I could do and it was one of the best matches I have played as a result. Shotgun battles everywhere and it was nuts. Surprisingly no one went for the Grenades but I think that was because the shotgun battles were so close. Anyway after that they asked me if I wanted to join them again, this time on Mausoleum (or however you spell it). I did and again we were off for another 17 rounds of murdering fun. My intention this time around was to start using the Torque Bow because I still need the achievement for that, but, one of my team mates was going for the weapon so I randomly decided to use the Boomshot instead (and thankfully the opposite team never went for it once, meaning I got it each of the 17 rounds). I absolutely suck with this weapon normally, but much to my surprise I was playing really damn well with it and I was having some damn good fun as a result. Another round started and once again I went for the Boomshot. I started heading out towards where the Sniper is and the entire opposite team was coming into the middle. I was by myself so naturally I was on edge and didn't think I had a chance. I took a shot anyway and BOOM! Three from the Locust team went down in the one shot. I couldn't believe my eyes but I couldn't focus on that for too long as I had to run, get behind cover and reload the weapon really quickly. Took another shot expecting it to fully miss but BOOM! Last Locust was taken down and the round was over. That match was awesome.
We continued playing and I continued using the Boomshot getting a kill here and there which was nice as it was gradually adding to my achievement. Last round comes along and again I go for the Boomshot. I'll cut the story short this time around but basically, the same thing happened again and I got three of the Locust team in the one shot. Reloaded, took the second shot and got the last guy on the Locust team to win the 17/16 match. Needless to say, I was blown away. Not just by the fact I was doing well with the Boomshot, not just because I was performing well the whole time and not just because I nailed the 4 Locust members the first time around. I was blown away because I managed to do it twice. That was a Gears moment for me, definitely. What an awesome night.
There, that's an example of what can go in this thread. I was going to do a second one but really, this post is big enough. _________________

Yea good idea for a thread. I umm...err...tugged the slug over DOAX2 on the w/e.
No actually I didn't but i've ranted about all my experiences on 360 games already (the ones I enjoyed anyways)....so I got nothing to add....currently....expect a few more rants from me on this thread however as more good games get released. _________________

Good idea for a thread.
Well didnt play my 360 much this weekend, but as I was having the theatre room painted I hooked it up to my crappy 48cm telly in my room.
Usually its hooked up to my Panasonic HD projector at 1080i.
Made me really appreciate HD, its so much clearer etc. Playing TDU I found it hard to see the oncoming traffic as its usually much clearer. Im sure on a decent size SD TV its a lot better, but on my 48cm it was pretty ordinary.
Anyway makes you appreciate HD that much more! Plus the mono speaker didnt help haha. Hopefully will be back in action later this week. Have neglected the 360 a bit lately and focused on PC. With C&C3 coming out this week it may be a while before I get back into it.
Seriously considering buying the 360 wireless wheel though. Breathe new life into TDU for me and ill be ready for Forza 2.

Since I got my LCD TV last week I've been going back and playing a little bit of a few of my older 360 games. It's great to see how much of an improvement HD makes. Gears of War just blew me away when i popped in in. So much clearer and detailed. Think I'll pop in Oblivion tonight/tomorrow and see how good that looks in HD and try and finally finish that main quest.
The other thing thats being going on with my 360 is xbox live. It's giving me the shits. My brother recently moved out, so he got his ADSL hooked up and I went round there and helped him set up his wireless network. 30-40 mins later everything was working sweetly. I went home hopped on live so we could play a little co-op crackdown or do some more Rainbow 6.
Tried crackdown first and no luck, we tried about 8 times to connect but it just wouldn't work. So we switched to R6 and had another go, him hosting, me hosting, nothing worked. Then we got on the phone, I ran him through placing his 360 in a DMZ on the router which caused his router to shit it's self so it was back round there i go. An hour later we finally go the router working again and the DMZ set. Got home and tried both games again with no luck.
After about a week I've finally figured out a work around for what ever the problem is. Thing is it involves me disconnecting the router and hooking the 360 straight up to the modem with a cable and having it in a DMZ on the modem. Which isn't that bad but it just mean every time me and him want to play a little co-op i have to run the wire out my room and down the hall and disconnect the router and all that.
I've been on live for about 3 years now and I'm really getting sick of this shit. We had trouble with our old router so i went and bought a new one( which was xbox approved). Still had trouble so we switched ISP's and everything was working great for 6 months or so but now I'm back to spending more time working out whats wrong then playing games on the service.
Anyway enough of my rant Xbox live, Great when it working right. Frustrating as hell when its not _________________

i bought my 360, about 8 months ago, when i moved from byron bay to south australia, for work reasons, having to leave my fiance` in byron (its only temporary she's moving down here in august (yay!!!!)). i bought table tennis with it, which i enjoyed for about 2 days, then got bored of it. i later sold it on ebay. after that i bought oblivion, i think i'm the only person in the world who didn't like it. Just couldn't handle all the lock ups and loading times, found it impossible to get into.
During that time i signed up for live, but to be honest i don't use it that much. i'm not really that good, and i just get whipped by everyone. The next game i bought was Dead Rising, which i absoutly loved, made me really stoked to have a 360, i never quite finished it. but close enough. Then i bought Lego Star Wars 2 which i also loved, but a bit too easy. After that i bought Test Drive Unlimited, which i was/ still am addicted to, even though i haven't won a single online race!
For X-mas i was given Saints Row, and Gears Of War, Saints was alright, i finished it, but i thought it actually went for too long. Gears Of War, is probably the best game i have ever played, i don't really play much online as once the other guys on my team find out that i suck, they shoot me at the start of the round!!
Somwhere along the line i picked up Burnout, which i thought was really cool, and i can actually come close to winning races online. The last game i bought is crackdown, which i reckon is a really cool game. i like it better the Saints, but i think it is a little bit too easy, although i haven't totally levelled up yet.
Then about a week ago, the unthinkable happened...... it crashed, and never recovered. so i've sent it off for repairs, who knows how long thats going take.
Probably the best surprise i found with the 360, was being able the play my ipod through it, god i love that!!
ummmmmmmmmm.............. thats all u can think of, i'm not sure what game to get next.............
ps i don't have any 'friends' , so if you want to be my friend, my gamer tag is xth666.

Awesome idea for a thread...
well I picked up a 360 about 3-4 weeks ago, and it's been sweet as - I gave it a maiden voyage at my grandparents place with a 42" screen in 1080i, and slipping gears into that made me know it was worth every penny, although I would be telling a lie if I said I wasn't just a tad disappointed when I got home and hooked it up to a more standard TV... can't wait to get onto live in 4-6 weeks when I'm finally in Brisbane.
oh, and It's only locked up on me once, which was during an all day session of gaming while I was playing Full Auto, gave it some time to cool down and it didn't ring of death me, so it's all good
Impressions of games so far... (in order of played...)
Gears - Beautiful game, great game-play, and about 10x better in co-op
Dead Rising - Surprisingly difficult... after all I had seen of it I kinda assumed it was more of a comedy zombie game - although it IS a little hard to keep a straight face during cut scenes if you've dressed Frank up as megaman/in a dress/in other stupid clothing
Hexic - depriver of sleep
PGR3 - eeer ... I only really put this in for geometry wars....
Quake 4 - not bad, although I've been spending more time taking a trip back to the past with Q2
Crackdown - Another depriver of sleep, some of the achievements are so fun (like the one where you kill 15 people with the observatory globe... hehehe)
Kameo - would like it more if it was harder....
Lost Planet - a bit of a let down, but I think I need to play it a bit more to really decide on it
Full Auto - Have been having heaps of fun with this, have all the offline achievements bar 3/4
Burnout Revenge - Fun, but can't really look that great when put next to Full Auto...
King Kong - A game based on a movie that doesn't suck horribly, I'm honestly quite surprised...
I'll give a more bloggy post when I have something to post about ... just giving my opinions thus far

Thanks guys for thinking it's a good thread. Wasn't sure how it would be 'taken' so was quite hesitant to post it. 'Course it just came to mind about 5 minutes before I did post it, but you know. _________________

Haha, that's for your 360 and its experiences with you, not the other way around. For the record though...

Those 360 blogs are pretty funny yet scary at the same time. When my 360 was getting fixed it wrote some pretty harsh stuff about me.
One of the best quotes i've seen from it is this
| DrunknMonkey84's Xbox wrote: | | DrunknMonkey84 was absent yesterday... I was smelling something that reminded me of sweat... He better not be playing with a Nintendo Wii... burning calories while playing games is just wrong. |
