Great new for us Oblivion fans. MS and Bethesda have put out the Shivering Isles expansion early so we all have something to do tonight while live is down : I've just started downloading it now and i got to say i was expecting it to be much bigger. It weights in at a surprisingly small 993.75 MB. I was expecting it to be easily over a 1.5 gig. I just hope it doesn't take ages to download
Many others going to grab this? _________________

Wow that is really awesome! Second wow... 2,400 points! I realize it's an massive expansion but... wow $50 bucks? I've been spoiled recently with $12 for SOTN and a lot of free content! This has to be the most expensive thing on Live now too? I'll be looking to pick this up in the next few weeks I think.
Agree on the size though - that's pretty small! Must be reusing as much data as possible. Especially in the sound/texture department. _________________

Hmm that all seems quite expensive and big. Seriously $50 and 1 gig of your precious hdd space? Even if I was a huge Oblivion fan that would be asking a lot. Seriously $50? Some full games are close to that....this game is reusing a lot of stuff so I don't think you should need to pay that much! And yea I realise it's a 10-15 hour mission which is more than most games. _________________

No, its ok. I'd have to first rebuy the game, and then spend another $50 on the damn expansion.

Correction (myself)....it's a 30 hour quest!! Yikes!! Why can't I get a new 30 hour quest for Prey, or Gears of War, or Dead Rising or even Lost Planet? Hell even a 5 hour quest for any of these games!! Devs take note....more single player content please! PLEASE!!!
I bet you Shivering Isles sells through the roof and then the rest of you devs will wise up! Greedy bastards, I know that's all it'll take! _________________

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 2400pts = $40
I know that's still a lot, but a fair bit less... personally $30 seems like a more appropriate amount for an expansion, even an epic one like this

$40 is a bargain for 30 hours of awesome gameplay. Hell, lots of games I thought were great where only 10 -15 hours long and they cost $100 - $120. _________________

For $40(Yes $40 not $50 like the PC version) this is a great buy guys. Big new world, new quests, all new enemies, weapons, spells and a lot more. The world of the Shivering Ilse looks nothing like Tamriel. The landscape is much different is the few parts I've been to. It looks truly stunning.
Well worth a buy for anyone wanting more Oblivion goodness _________________

^ I'd actually rather get the Pc version where you actually get some packaging and the original copy of the game. Infact this would apply to any game imo.
Also Wow....had no idea Shivering Isle was actually a different place to Tamriel....that's epic! _________________

What will you do with the packaging once you get it? Install the expansion put the disk away and throw it on the shelf with the rest of your game boxs? I really don't see the point myself
EDIT: I thought I'd take a few pics of some places early in the expansion to show some of the new look of the Shivering Isles. Sorry if there not the best quality, I'm not much of a photographer

Well I collect games so it might be pointless explaining what boxes are for if you don't already know. Also i'd hate to have the data corrupt on my 360 hdd then have to go through all the hassle of getting microsoft to allow you access to it again free of charge. _________________

No new music has been added and for you first question i'm just going to copy the relply I already gave you in another thread where you asked the same fuck ing question
| Quote: | | And second I don't think the very small number of us that managed to get it yet would of played a whole lot of it. But I'll take a guess and say it follows a similar formula to Oblivion and a lot of other RPGs of this kinda and will have a heap of dungeon crawling in it. |

Can anyone tell me if when you start oblivion and it says on the screen: "Loading extra content. Please wait." Is it supposed to take obscene amounts of time where the music stops and the console becomes unresponsive? _________________

My question...
I'm about to travel to Dubbo to work for 2 months I won't have internet access on my 360. Could some people please try loading the game and playing the expansion whilst not connected to Live or the net, so I know whether to buy it before I go? Thanks! _________________
