I tried many times to register my ps3 this weekend. via the website and on the console itself. neither worked. Sonys web registration page was offline? suprise. and when i tried to register on the ps3 itself it kept timing out, quite annoying as i had to keep re entering all the info each time. after talking with sony they tried to blame it on my airports non compatibility with telstra bradbands 'heartbeat' system, as i use bigpond cable broadband. but after speaking with telstra they said thats not true and it should work? who's having me? telsta or sony? was the registration down just b/c of high demand on the first weekend out? or is this heartbeat thing real?

I have ehard of other instances of 'stuff'' not working with that asshat heartbeat system telstra have.
I'm sure counter strike source doesn't work properly either.I'd be more inclined to say telstra are yankin your chain. _________________

Are you using a router or some such thing to handle the heartbeat thing? I'm not sure if a PS3 could log in directly. _________________

I'm using a router and it's fine with me. I think it would be telstra haha i left telstra while back to expensive for what your getting. I would still blame telstra ring them again and tell them what's happening _________________

I haven't had any issues with Bigpond and my PS3. _________________

What sort of router are you using? When you said Airport, did you mean Apple's wireless router? If yes, then I believe you need to have a computer logged in to keep the heartbeat going, rather than just the PS3, as the router can't handle the heartbeat itself and neither can the PS3. It might have changed these days, I haven't really tried as my Macbook Pro is always logged in, but with the old Xbox, if I logged into live and didn't have any computers signed in (and thus something to respond to the heartbeat) it would disconnect me from Bigpond, and thus timeout the Xbox's connection. _________________
