I'm new to this forum but just wanted to alert you guys to a new movie coming out called Hot Fuzz by the same guys who did the superb British tv show Spaced and the cult movie classic Shaun of the Dead.
I'm helping Working Title films in Australia and the guys involved Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright are huge gaming and movie fans (if you haven't seen or heard of Spaced you have got to watch it solely for the Resi Evil episode - plus some great Star Wars references) and wanted us to talk directly to the fans and let them know about the film.
The website is up and running at www.hotfuzz.com.au
Hot Fuzz is an action comedy released in Australia on 15th March and a premiere will be held in Sydney at the Greater Union cinema in George Street on the 12th March. Simon, Nick and Edgar will be on the carpet for a while before the premiere. If you are interested in seeing them whilst they are in Sydney drop along from 6pm onwards: should be a blast!
I'd be interested to know what you thought about the film and what kind of genre the guys should do next together.

Here's a hint phelan74 from networkpr.com.au. When viral marketing, don't use a work ip address

Phelan = Irish gaelic for wolf
Former gaming journo, still very passionate about movies and games.
And that's Network PR to you
Actually the guys are very interested in fan response cause they are huge gamers themselves and, well obviously, big movie fans.
Not sure if this comes under Viral either - isn't that supposed to be to create something that is sent out.
I'm being honest and open about this. Nothing unethical.
My main forum is UK based but I moved to Australia a few years ago and read a lot of the forums here.

keep in mind he does say that he is working with the movie and is asking for the thoughts of the fans. so it's not like he is really hiding the fact he works for them _________________

i'm really looking forwards to it tbh.
big fan of Spaced, and love Shaun of the Dead. would love to see a local release of Spaced on DVD, even though i ended up importing it.
---
I probably would've done the same as Spanca, and locked the thread (or simply deleted it). it's kinda silly in a way because it was more the well-written nature of the post that made it seem like you were trawling for clicks, or advertising surreptitiously. almost ironic since if you'd made a thread called "OMG HOTFUSZ IS FTW!1!", we'd probably have changed the thread name, but left the thread.
anyway, enough off-topic, let's return to our regularly scheduled programming... _________________

Ah my years of being a forumite would mean if I had tried that title I would have probably imploded! Plus I'm a former moderator so I know what you are saying.
I'm trying to be as honest as possible.
Now don't start me on Spaced - I brought TWO copies of each series from the UK in case one got damaged.
I saw Hot Fuzz the other day and laughed my arse off. It's tops. Was glad I saw it cause my friends in the UK were driving me nuts cause it's released there already.
There is one scene that is in the trailer with the granny that had me pissing my self...thankfully the cinema was quiet

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I've been looking forward to this film now. I hate viral marketers.
EDIT: This post isn't meant to make a troll of the thread. _________________

I'm not a viral marketer, nor a plant.
However, I do know of certain companies which have employed people to go around forums and get paid to post positive things about their product.
I only do this because
a) I want to be as up front as I can
b) I had already contacted Palgn about a comp and hadn't heard back. And still want to run a comp - just waiting to hear back.
c) I'm a huge fan and happy to talk to fans of Spaced and SOTD along with gamers as I'm all of that. Hell I've probably been a gamer than most people on the web
d) The guys actually do want feedback on this and what better way to do it than get the responses?
Actually let's take this discussion OT.

Advanced screenings this weekend guys, starting Friday the 9th.
I reckon I might be able to get about three viewings in tomorrow.
Prediction: movie of the year! _________________

I'm looking forward to it, it looks more original than the other recently released cop movies out there.
I'll write some more stuff on it soon.

It is seriously funny stuff, watched it twice already, probably see it again next week. Makes me want to re-watch Spaced too. _________________

I know I should say congratulations, but....I don't really want to.
What I want to do is infiltrate TheAnswer's residence ninja style, dispose of TheAnswer, steal the tickets, go to the premiere in disguise, and then go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?
Congratulations TheAnswer _________________

Thats all fine and dandy Charly, but the tickets arent at my residence. I have to pick them up just before the premiere, so I'm hoping the tickets will actually be there waiting for me and this not all be a hoax _________________ RIP Buddha 19/10/1952 - 03/01/2004

That's too perfect....
Dress up as ninja. Infiltrate residence. . Kill TheAnswer - "Sorry." - Grab disguise. Pick up tickets. Attend the the premiere, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?
