You might be out of luck there. Apparently the system update that came along with the Everybody Votes channel actually *does* take away your Wii points when you swap regions now.
And yeah I know people said that about the update before this one, but now it's actually true. |
But sureley you can do a swap when you spend all your points! Admittedly there is a bit of the hotdog and the bun syndrome going on here, with wii points spent often leaving an inconvenient remainder. Still next time I get the goose egg, I might try a swap to see whats on offer!

yeah, swapping at the end of your points is probably still possible.
the thing before was that the points were cheaper in Au, but the UK had the TG16 games, which was nice.
i still haven't updated my Wii since the News Channel came out, so mine is probably still do-able, but i'm not going to risk it, since i've got ~$40 in points remaining.

i'm guessing it has been asked, but has PALGN approached NinAu to ask why we don't have TG16 games?

I've updated my wii, switched regions and still kept my left over points, I do it every week to see what the Uk get, I'll try it again tomorrow and see what happens.
*edit* Yes, it would appear you now lose your points when you switch to UK. Whoops.

So I downloaded Excitebike last night, go to start it up and it jumps straight to the home menu. When I click out of that there's nothing on the screen, I can only hear the dodgy music. Can someone clue me in, is there something I need to do before playing a VC game? (as this is the only one I've downloaded)

Sounds like the problem I've got - with all NES VC titles.
My TV won't display the low res. that NES games run in over component - so I get a black screen with the menu music when trying to run Zelda.
Running through the composite cables will fix this.

Composite cables are the ones that come in the box with your Wii - Component are the ones that you have to buy. don't go out and buy anything just yet!
If you're not using component, or running through an LCD, the problem might be something different entirely.

Oh, well you might be out of luck then. Have you got the manual for you TV handy? If you can find it have a look at the supported resolutions and see if it will even run at a low res. For example, my TV won't display at anything lower than 640*480 - which is much higher than what NES games run in. You might be in the same, shitty position.
Edit: What I said earlier about different cables doesn't even make sense now that I think about it.

Yeah its only a cheap TV can't find anything about changing the resolution or what it'll display in the manual.

Can you maybe change from 50 hertz mode to 60 or vice versa. I don't know if it'll work but it's just an idea.

Does anyone know if Unirally for the snes will be coming to the VC anytime soon? I hope so. My friend had that game and everytime i went over his place we played it, it was an awesome game.

Hey people just thought i would add my list of most wanted Virtual Console games.
Turok : Dinosaur Hunter - N64
Turok : Seeds of Evil - N64
Zelda : Majoras Mask - N64
There the main ones i want because i never got to experiece them back in the day. I really hope that more of the unpopular games make it onto the VC library aswell just because even if they arent the best around, some of them are good. For example, Star Wars Shadow of the Empire. Even though i have that game i would love to pay it on the VC.

Don't forget Sonic 3 & Knuckles (the combination), which is so much better than the two seperate games (Synergy!)
