Managed to score myself a static (dunno what they're called in WoW) though, gonna be hitting RFC later tonight. icon_smile.gif Fairly excited; the high-levelers here'll probably shoot it down but it's my first instance (yeah, I had a 32 rogue, yeah, I never did an instance), so should be cool. I can't remember how badly level differences gimp exp earned though, since I'll be like 2 levels above everyone else... oh well.

I'm guessing you mean quests for an Instanced dungeon (quests that have Dungeon after them in your quest log). Instances are great, I was always a big fan of the lower level 5 man stuff. Bit unsure which one you mean by RFC - normally that would be Ragefire Chasm, the horde instance underneath Orgrimmar (which is a fairly low level instance IIRC, 13-18's?) Still, you should cruise through it. You might be meaning Razorfen Kraul 29-38's though. In either case, have fun! Just make sure you allow plenty of time.

Logged in this morning and there's a new patch - for those that weren't aware (it's a 4.6Mb download)

World of Warcraft Client Patch 2.0.6 (01/23/2007)

The latest patch notes can always be found at http://worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/

Hunters

* "Silencing Shot" now does only 50% of weapon damage instead of 75%.
* The base damage for "Arcane Shot" has been reduced by about 9% and the bonus damage from ranged attack power reduced from 20% to 15%.
* The bonus damage for "Barrage" is now 4/8/12% for ranks 1/2/3.
* The bonus damage for "Improved Barrage" is now 4/8/12% for ranks 1/2/3.

Mages

* Each rank of "Improved Fireball" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.
* Each rank of "Improved Frostbolt" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.
* "Counterspell" no longer triggers the global cooldown.
* "Mana Shield" now absorbs magical damage as well as physical damage.

Priests

* The bonus coefficient for "Shadow Word: Pain" has been reduced by about 9%. This should result in about 5% less damage done by "Shadow Word: Pain" for the typical priest.

Bug Fixes

* The "Frozen Shadoweave Boots" will now properly increase shadow damage.
* Players will no longer lose control of their character if they try to talk to an NPC while mobs are aggro on them.
* The /equip command will now work on pieces of gear that are not in your primary bag.
* Fixed an issue that was causing some players to disconnect in Hellfire Citadel:Blood Furnace.
* The "Corruptor" 4 piece set bonus will now be properly applied.
* The Legion Fel Cannons at Forge Camp Anger in Blades Edge will now properly spawn above ground.
* The Arena queue tooltip will now show the arena that the player is queued for.
* Fixed an error that was causing players to disconnect if they tried to socket a gem that had been gift wrapped.
* Fixed an error that was causing players to disconnect forming a party with other members in the same area.
* Pet icons will now properly update in the Stables window.
* Improved the robustness of the pet action bar display. It is now less likely to be accidentally blocked by addons.
* Players will no longer hear the gong sound repeated after initially joining a queue for the battlegrounds.
* Having a group invite declined while queued via "Looking for More" will no longer remove you from the queue.
* Nethershards will no longer cost honor to purchase but will cost gold instead.
* Players will no longer be given access to both quest lines following the Declaration of Allegiance to the Scryers or Aldor in Shattrath City.

RFC (yeah I did mean Ragefire Chasm icon_smile.gif) has been delayed to tomorrow... people didn't level enough heh. Oh well.

Speaking of bug fixing, have any of you seen that bug that BC must've caused, where if you walk with your weapon out, it moves independently from your hand? Really starting to irk me, not that I see it often, but just knowing it's there... I guess there'll be a lot of little things they'll fix over time.

That update took forever for me to download though, same with a couple of other people I asked... not too relevant to me though class-wise, mains are paladin and rogue now.

Are many other servers making use of the new LFG system? On the servers I play, I've only ever seen about 5 people on any list since it was introduced, people insist on just using general... maybe unnecessary?

incredibly pissed about this.

it's fair enough that it was broken before the patch, and they're fixing it, but Warlocks, Druids and Priests all have similar talents that reduce casting time, yet those spell coefficients aren't being "fixed".

L2Consistancy imo. icon_mad.gif

and this works the other way. about time our spell canceller was GCD free, like all the other spell cancellers.

@Kikujir0
are you able to log onto the forums or account management pages of www.worldofwarcraft.com?

i've had a few occasions where i can't get into the game (similar error to the one you described), but the website works fine.

it's kinda on and off. it's pretty dumb, but this kind of LFG system was being asked for since launch, 2 years ago. apparently there was a good LFG system in Beta, based on the EverQuest model where you tag yourself as LFG (similar to /afk and /dnd that are in WoW) but it was scrapped for launch, and no one knows why.

unfortunately people mostly got used to using /general or a mod called "Call to Arms" to find groups, and it's kind of redundant. while i like the new LFG system, i really think they should have a look at Call-to-Arms and try incorporate that into their system. basically CTA trawls the general chat looking for "LFG" "LFM" and "LFxM" and posts those messages in a separate window.

ok, i am level 13 now, pretty good effort for me I say, I am a human warrior. For some unknown reason (to me at least) my heroic strike ability has dissappeared. it was set to number 2 on my keyboard shortcuts but it isn't there anymore, can anyone let me know how I may have done this? i know it is probably glaringly obvious, but i cant figure it out.

thanks in advance

press "P" or the "Spellbook" button on the menu bar (where the character sheet is, it should be a book icon.)

find Heroic Strike under one of the tabs (sorry, my last warrior was a good 2 years ago, so i don't remember what tree its under), and drag and drop the spell onto your hotbar.

you can lock the action bars (so you don't accidentally drag something off the bars again, which is what i assume happened here) under the interface options, on the escape menu.

Well, got my Drenai shaman up to 26 and pretty much completed all the quests in their starting areas. Good stuff there, some nice starting quests and locations. Loved the ending to the Ending their World quest, which is basically the final quest on Bloodmyst Isle. Went a bit into jewellery crafting as well, good to see some decent low level rings and necklaces, and on a new server they were selling really well.

Going to transfer some characters around tonight to meet up with some mates, then redo my talents on my 60's and head off through the dark portal. Looking foward to seeing what's out there!

^ Yeah, the rings from jewelcrafting are just about the only thing that sells well on Auchindoun server AH (swear there must be only like 100 people... 20 copper bars for 10s? wtf?).

My guild got served in RFC, so we're just gonna do 10-19 Warsong Gulch, and since I'm 19, I've just got to wait (read: level Draenei paladin) while they all get to the same level. *sigh* Fun stuff.

Woot, its been a week since I got BC and Ive got my Blef Mage to 30! He pwns icon_biggrin.gif Downtime is surpringsly not a big issue and fire spec gives me fast killin, I usually only cast 3 spells (pyro > fireball > fireblast) then wand away, making it 15-20 sec a kill.

Got some nice profs going, this is by far my best char in terms of progress, already 30g and 175/168 Alchy/Herby respectively.Tried leveling some of my 60's, cbf icon_razz.gif so I made a mage. Im finding Alchy is one of the best profs for money, Im gaining quite a bit of profit atm from horde, theres a quest that requires 'Strong Troll's Blood Potion' which only alchemists can make, and I put up batches of 10 for 50s each and they're gone in about 24 hours.

The first two zones are excellent for BE's!!!! I wish blizzard addded more, its a real shame they were really good.

If you wanna play with me join Thaurissan, PM Kikujiro.

P.S Fixed my password issue obviously icon_razz.gif In the process of changing my secret password, they're asking me to give me the last used gamecard number. So stupid because Ive got a tonne of them and most of em are from my old other account mixed up with my new one. Argh complicated, I was planning to Xfer my 51 Warr over but I need the answer, although don't think Ill bother since Im doing so well with the mage.

BElf mages are imba in my opinion, when the racial was announced i thought this would be the case, and once it went live i confirmed it.

they are going to be so good in PVP, with their 2 silence spells.

good choices with professions, Herbalism turns a fair profit at high level, if you have the patience to run around farming for an hour or so. Alchemy is also fairly decent, but i usually found herbs sold better, besides a select few potions, like the Greater Protection pots.

i am now level 13, and going through the missions in westfall, I went for my first griffon ride and first underground rail, ride the other day. It totally blew me away, I find myself more and more amazed as I go through the game and I have only done westfall and the begining area, I cant remember what it is called, but its such an awesome experience!

Is there a way to change your professions, I chose two professions to start with without thinking and dont want to be stuck with skinning and tailoring, as I think there are better ones for a warrior.

^ yeah, press "K" to bring up the skills list (or goto your character sheet and select the Skills tab) and click on the professions you want to drop.

i can't remember the exact wording they use, but there should be a button that looks like the "No Smoking" or Ghostbusters circle-slash emblem (without the Cigarette, or Ghost, obviously).

if you click that, it should ask if you're sure and so on.

---
btw: iirc the manual is somewhat ambigious when it comes to Primary and Secondary skills, but what went to live was this:
you can have only 2 Primary Skills, which are:
Blacksmithing
Leatherworking
Alchemy
Jewellery
Tailoring
Skinning
Mining
Herbalism

but you can have all the secondary skills:
Cooking
Fishing
First Aid

First Aid is a must have. the other two are alright, but not really necessary (Fishing is great for Hunters though, free food for your pets - depending on animal.)

i don't really know what to suggest you pick up though, Herbalism/Mining and Skinning are usually good to make some money when servers are new, i don't know about what they're like on exisiting servers.

Yeah I wish I was as lucky as you, back when I first got wow my PC was laggy as sh1t and basically couldnt enjoy cities/gryphons. In fact I never saw the whole of any city till about level 58 when I got a new pc 6 months later.

The beginning area is Elwyn Forest, I randomized a name for my druid and it was Elwynian icon_razz.gif

Anyway, Skinning and Tailoring isnt so hot for a warrior icon_razz.gif needless to say professions arent tied down to classes nor are they particularly meant to be for them and you can do whatever you want.

Some warriors like Alchemy because they can make nice healing pots and such to save them in sticky situations, alchemy makes decent money and has a lot of nifty items. Herbalism makes moeny like obs said if ur prepared to farm for an hour or so, but collecting professions usually just mean you collect the items as you go along the road and kill/quest.

Another favoured professions for warriors is Mining (very good for money later, although mining deposits are somewhat harder to find) and Blacksmithing. Blacksmithing is what most warriors choose, you can make ur own armour from mail to plate and even you own weapons. Later in the 60-70's you will be able to forge great items even epics/legendarys. Somewhere along 40-50 if you started early where you would probably be in the 200's you can start making blue weapons/armour, in fact u can make some blue lowbie armours with Patterns you find.

you can try Enchanting which is also a money making profession, where you enchant peoples weapon or armour to give them enhanced stats. A favoured weapon enchant is crusader, it sometimes procs to give +100 Str. (200 attack power for warriors) and gives you about 70-130 health, it procs alot. Obviously the reagents are expensive, and take a bit of farming if done manually, the Orbs actually can only be found in one place but drop every time you run the instance.

You can try 2 gathering skills such as Mining/Skinning, Herby/Mining or whatever so you can sell what you find. Then at 40 or so you can ditch one of them and start a real profession corresponding with that gathering profession.

Ie. Blacksmithing/Mining. Herbalism/Alchemy.

Enchanting doesnt go anything, usuallly you would get a gathering class.

Do not get confused.

Gathering classes are NOT required!! Hell you could have Alchemy/Blacksmithing all though getting reagents and mats (materials) will be hard and expensive as most of it will be bought.

If you have any questions shoot.

Edit: Oh I have a question, someone explain Jewelcrafting? One profession I forget, actually I donmt really know it. I know it has something to do with Sockets but .. yeah anyway

Fishing, Cooking and First Aid are all worth the effort I think - fishing especially as Obs said for hunters, but also for tradeskills as plenty of reagents require fish. Fishing is also a great way to collect easy loot when you fish the floating wreckages along the coastlines, I've fished plenty of bolts of various cloths, gems, booze and the occasional green item. Fishing is also a great way to pass the time while waiting for boats at theramore or darnassus or wherever you are.

First aid is another must have - heavy runecloth bandages heal 2000pts in 8 seconds. (hvy netherweave do 3400 in 8!) There are also anti-venom potions which are handy for classes that don't have access to magical cures, such as rogues and warriors. Can be hard to level if your a tailor, as you'll be wanting to use the cloth rather than make bandages, but still worth doing.

Cooking is also handy, not just for the healing but mainly for the +stamina buff you get from cooked food items, and later you can cook different items to get buffs on other stats as well - like +agility. The end game cooking stuff is pretty nifty too:

Spicy Crawdad
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 7500 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 30 Stamina and 20 Spirit for 30 min.

Not too shabby!

I levelled jewelcrafting upto about 100 on an alt, and it was mainly about creating rings and necklaces that provided stats boosts. It was a match with mining, as most of the items needed bars, and you could make fine wires and settings out of the bars. Normally you combined some bars and some wire and a gem like a malachite or tigerseye to create a ring or necklace. It also gave you the prospecting ability, which basically converted 5 pieces of any type of ore into one or more gems, the type of which was determined by the ore, plus come vendor trash. It's a good way of ensuring you have sufficient gems to make your various bits and pieces. Just looking at some of the end game items:

Living Ruby Pendant
Binds when equipped
Neck
+24 Stamina
+15 Intellect
Requires Level 70
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 35.
Equip: Restores 6 mana per 5 sec.
Use: Restores 6 health per second to nearby party members for 30 min.
Cooldown: 1 hour
Charges: 10
Sells for 3 Gold 91 Silver 22 Copper to vendors
Item Level 113

Requires:
365 Jewelcrafting
4x Khorium Bar
1x Mercurial Adamantite
1x Living Ruby

It's pretty hard to get both silences in, 8 yards is hard to get in a silence spell at the right time.

i didn't really have that much trouble, without sounding like i'm boasting (which i'm not, since if anything it points more to the fact that i have no imagination), i've already got 2 60+ mages, so perhaps i simply know how to maneuver myself to take advantage of it.

mind you, the BElf Warriors that were in Beta were also hugely OP imo, being able to charge, then AOE Silence was an incredible move in PVP, and i was not in the least bit surprised when BElf warriors were dropped altogether.

I heard that regardless of level, anyone with the expansion can be summoned to Outlands.

Can anyone confirm this? I guess the only benefits Id reap from this is upgrading my Alchy/Herby profs to the 300-375 straight away (yar they are already 300 icon_razz.gif)

If this were true they would probably fix it in sometime, who knows what a lvl 40 could do, could get items and possibly be even powerleved in outlands!?

Oh yeah wow Update. LvL 43 Mage and going strong with 50g icon_biggrin.gif (I got a Blue, and a black chocobo icon_razz.gif)
