really just an excuse for me to post a filming of the Burning Crusade opening cinematic debut.

quality is decisively average, so if you don't want that to spoil it, i wouldn't press play.
mind you, it probably won't be on YouTube for much longer anyway...

it looks fcuking awesome, Blizzard cinematics FTW. icon_biggrin.gif

Looks quite impressive.

My most recent WoW character profile is in my signature - a hunter. Previously characters include a level 60 Priest with most of my T2 set (before AQ was added), level 60 warrior with some T1 and a level 60 Rogue with some decent blue gear.

I've managed to kick the WoW addiction and have stopped playing the game altogether (I'm so good), but it'll probably only last until TBC is released.

i'm still playing, though i'm trading time between my Gnome Mage on Jubei'Thos, and my Orc Hunter which i recently transferred to Thaurissan.

Mage is nicely decked for her age/playtime (6/8 Netherwind) but my hunter is really really badly decked.
however he was the first level 60 i had, and it's been fun going back to him and having a muck about, especially in BGs. it's amazing how bad some people really are, despite their gear.

currently i'm honour grinding for the Grand Marshal Mageblade. previously i was gunning for the Claw of Chrommagus for my main-hand through PVE endeavors, but after 6 months of farming Chrommagus, and not having a single one drop for the entire guild*, the new PVP rules involves a LOT less stress/effort for a much better caster weapon.

which is really quite stupid. especially when you see people who are otherwise geared as badly as my hunter (ie: a few Tier 0, some random quest reward blues and random greens "of the monkey") wielding a GM Weapon, it's pretty obvious the PVP rewards are somewhat underpriced.

*our guild has been really unlucky with Mage drops. it was 5 months before we saw our first ever Netherwind Robe (which i didn't get) and hasn't dropped since. we've had only 2 Netherwind Crowns drop total, and only 1 pair of Boots (which i also didn't get).

it's stupid how easy it to get the GM gear right now.

i've done 2 days of pretty light PVPing*, and am more than half-way to getting it now.

*which is, admittedly, heavy for me, i've never really gotten into battlegrounds before, hell, i only got out of Neutral with three PVP factions (Arathor, Silverwing, Stormpike) yesterday. but still, only 15-20 games per day so far.

i've heard a rumour that The Burning Crusade has been delayed another month. the source is only somewhat reliable though, so i'm taking it with a grain of salt unless i hear it from another source.

if it's true though, it's going to be pretty bad for Blizzard imo. the current wait has essentially put the game in limbo it seems atm, and i know more than a few people who've decided to quit the game altogether through the wait.

Heheh saw something real funny tonight.
Was doing some shopping at the local shopping megaplex and my mate spotted a neighbour of his ahead in the que with a game in his hand.
My mate signs to him to lift up the game that he bought.
I spot the World of Warcraft logo on the box and my mate yells out,"You're gonna lose your life on that one!" jokingly.

Then we meet up outside the store after checking through the checkout aisle.
Then as I get closer I realise it is not the 'normal' WoW box.
He is in fact holding the add-on "The burning crusade".
I said,"WTF?!? how did you get that? that isn't supposed to be out?!"
While looking fully at the box he is showing us (looks totally legit with system specs, pics on back etc)

"It's just the box!" he laughs.
He got it from his mate at BigW and is going to wrap it up and fill it with a booklet to give it some weight and give it as a Christmas present to his mate that is a huge WoW fan.

*Evil cackling ensued* icon_lol_old.gif

Will be funny to see his face when he unwraps it.

i saw on eBay a few weeks ago someone selling a Burning Crusade Box, written as exactly that. i'm sure it's probably the same box.

it sold for over $80.

LMFAO...thats pretty cruel...but really funny.

I recently stoppd playing WoW, and despite playing for over 6 months, i diddnt have any lvl 60 chars. There are two main reasons for this...

1) I level REALLY slowly...like 1 week to get from lvl 20-21. and i play a good 2 hrs a day.

2) I make new characters WAY too often. I have at least 20 chars, all around the mid 20's.

but neway, i stopped playing coz im getting a Wii, dark messiah and i have css.

When the expansion pack comes out I'll probably reactivate my account, a bunch of guys at work who used to play have all decided to jump back in when it starts. It's been great taking a break though, amazing how much free time you suddenly have!

I decided it was time to put my account to rest. The hole heal/cleanse both nature of the paladin class in dungeons/raids is very boring... I though we were supposed to be hybrids.

Levl 60 pally, featermoon, BWL epics.

^ yeah, kinda.

you need to buy at least 1 month's subscription to activate the account (ie: verify a user) and to do this you need either a Credit Card, or to buy a game card (which is 2 months.)

when i bought the game, it spent a week installed, with no way of playing it as i had no CC, and Gamecards we soldout in WA.

so, Burning Crusade went live today, though you can't get to Outlands without the xpac, so noone should be there yet.

logged on this morning to check out the Dark Portal opening event, which is merely many demons spawning in front of it, and a quest to kill some of them, though i've heard the real event is on the other side.

(i've been avoiding spoilers as much as possible, so please tag any spoilers appropriately.)

i doubt you'll get close to the portal at level 43, iirc, it's a low 50s zone, including the mobs around the gate - and there a LOTS of them now.

you can't get through the portal until level 58.

good question re: included time, i honestly don't know, i hadn't thought about it.

I wouldn't think there's a lot of new content either for characters at that level...New characters for the new factions will have all new quests up to about level 10ish when they get sent off to westfall / barrens / silverpine. There would be a few quests around the new profession, but unless you roll up a new character or can shimmy up to 60 quickly it might be a bit same old. The demons at the base of the dark portal used to be Elites as well if I remember correctly, and pretty nasty ones at that.

Trying to decide if I do come back with to WoW which of my old characters to start playing with again, or if I should roll up a new one with the new races. Probably only take 5 or 6 hours to get each new race up to level 10, then might switch back to the old characters to explore the new stuff. Wonder how many people will ditch a profession and then powerlevel up the jewellry, might be worth a go...

Obs are the character transfers available between server types (say RP-PVP to PvP) or between US and Oceania servers? Got a couple of 60's I'd like to move across.

yeah, afaik there's only new starting zones (1-10 or so) and new endzones. nothing in between, with the possible exception of a new level 50 instance. there's a rumour at least.

i'm kinda undecided as to what i'm going to do. i still really enjoy playing my Mage, but the IRL people i know who play did quit at various stages, and are re-rolling new characters.
i enjoy playing with them, but i also enjoy raiding, so i don't know whether to risk being stuck by myself in a few months time because i rerolled.

i do plan on checking out the Dranei and Blood Elf starting areas though, so perhaps that play-time will decide for me.

---
you can transfer between US and Oceanic servers, as they both count as US servers, just on different timezones (like Pacific, Mid and Atlantic US server times). you can't transfer between Euro, US or Asian servers though.

if you're on a PVP or RP-PVP server, then you can transfer to any other server type, but PVE and RP servers can only transfer to other PVE or RP servers.
this is to stop people cruising to 60 (or 70 now) without the hassles of gankage, and then transferring to a PVP realm.

Never really had the time to raid on a regular basis, a bit here and a bit there. So all 3 of my level 60's are pretty much as far as they can go without raiding or getting right into PvP - apparently they are handing out basically free epics in the battlegrounds now??

I wouldn't mind levelling up a new character, it's been so long since I played it would be sweet to do it again, probably a shaman or rogue, there the only classes I haven't taken past 20. A lot of work mates are rerolling, and I remember how much I enjoyed the game when it first went live and the place was packed with new players and it felt all fresh and exciting - be good to capture that feeling again.

it really depends on your perspective re: PVP rewards.

if you get a good group, and it has the skill to win 90% of your games (which isn't hard if you're a pre-made, as 90% of the games will be against PUGs) then you can easily get a GM weapon in a few days, a week at the outside.

which is how i got my mage a GM Mageblade.

however, if you play purely casually, and solo (or small groups), it takes a LOT longer.
